Lena’s POV
“Let me out.”
I stood in the middle of Zeke’s penthouse, my fists clenched, my heart hammering.
He leaned against the marble counter, arms crossed, watching me with that same unreadable expression he always wore. Calm. Controlled. Dangerous.
“You’re not leaving,” he said, voice smooth, effortless.
A muscle in my jaw twitched. “You can’t just keep me here.”
Zeke pushed off the counter, closing the space between us with slow, deliberate steps. I held my ground, even as his presence swallowed the air around me.
“I can,” he said. “And I will.”
I shoved at his chest, but he didn’t budge. He was a wall of heat and muscle, unmoving, unwavering.
“This isn’t protection,” I snapped. “This is a damn prison.”
His lips twitched, like he found that amusing.
I wanted to slap him.
Instead, I took a step back, glaring. “Why?” I whispered, my voice quieter now.
For a moment, something flickered in his eyes—something almost vulnerable. Almost. But then it was gone, replaced by steel.
“Because I owe you my life,” he said. “And I don’t like leaving debts unpaid.”
The air between us was heavy, thick with something I couldn’t name.
I swallowed, my throat tight. “Then what happens when your debt is paid?”
