Silhouette
"Pow, come here. We'll watch your request," I told him, smiling before tapping the bed.
I noticed the trembling of his knee before slowly running towards me.
"What are we going to watch?" I frowned when I heard him stutter.
I chose to smile at him before hugging him tightly.
"This Fly me to the Moon you chose. Come on, you're next to your sister. Are you sure you don't want them here?" I make sure as I put the blanket on him.
Her breathing became heavier. "I don't want a sister, I just want us to watch the movie."
He smiled sweetly at me, and I gave him a kiss on the forehead before playing the movie.
I was smiling the whole time while we were watching the movie. It's a movie about a gifted child adopted by two adults.
The flow of the story is good, but I can't help but turn to Pow Pow every time I hear his heavy breathing.
"Are you okay?" I asked worriedly in the middle of the movie.
He immediately turned to me before smiling sweetly. "It's okay."
I ruffled her hair slightly before turning my gaze back to the movie.
A few more minutes passed, and I felt heavier because of the flow of the story.
Austin, a gifted child, has to donate his heart. He has no choice because his life is fixed.
"Oh God," I whispered before wiping my tears away while in the scene where the stars were talking.
"Where is he going, sister?" Pow Pow asked weakly before holding my hand.
"He's gonna go to heaven, Pow Pow. Because, he-needs to," I stammered.
"Is it beautiful in heaven?"
I lost my attention to the movie I was watching. I smiled bitterly before nodding. "Yeah, nice. S-Very much."
"Is that where all the people who die go?" he asked while breathing heavily.
"Yes, especially when you're kind," I answered.
Exactly when I turned to Pow Pow who closed his eyes tightly was the music playing from what we were watching.
"I'm gonna move to the moon
I'm leaving everyone soon
But before I do
I gotta see you "
"Ate?" Pow Pow called me. I didn't look at him.
"Why?" I will ask.
"When I leave, will you be angry?"
"I'm writing letters to friends
Calling enemies to make my amends
But before I fly
I gotta see you one last time. "
I quickly wiped the tears from my cheeks. "H-No, not Pow Pow. Sister won't be angry."
He took a deep breath.
"I-I want ... I want to leave my sister. Are you okay? Will you still be okay?"
I couldn't help but turn to him. Confused, I got out of bed.
"Pow, are you n-feeling anything? Tell me, sister. I'll just call the doctor--"
"I want to leave, sister."
"Is it too late to come by your window
'Cause I just have you on my mind
I'm making some room here inside
Of my rocket
Maybe you want to go with me? "
"I don't want to," I cried as I shook my head.
"I'm tired, sister. I'm so tired of fighting." I was even more moved by what he said.
"N-No, you can't get tired. My sister is here," I told her crying.
"I'm breaking through atmosphere
Too different from everyone here
But before I do
I gotta find you "
"I-I want to rest, sister, I don't want to p-po. I don't want to be hurt anymore, every night. I-I don't want to be scared anymore, I-I don't want to be a sister."
I cried harder. "No, your sister is here, Pow Pow. Your sister is here. You won't be afraid anymore."
"A-Ate, I love you so much."
"I'm bidding the Earth farewell
For better or worse, I can't tell
Oh, but once I flee
The moon
Will finally belong to me "
I quickly pressed the intercom and stuttering called the doctors 'attention.
Then I hurriedly turned to Pow Pow who was tightly closed.
"Pow, come here sister. M-Are you feeling anything? Tell me," I tenderly promised her.
He did not turn to me, he remained closed as his tears flowed profusely.
"S-Thank you, sister. T-You fulfilled all my dreams, even just for a moment, sister Silhouette, thank you" he said with great difficulty.
I tweaked my own hair before hitting the intercom.
"Tangina, come here!"
I turned to Pow Pow as he held my hand tightly. He's breathing heavily.
"Is it too late to come by your window
'Cause I just have you on my mind
That's why
I'm making some room here inside
Of my rocket
Maybe you want to go with me? "
"A-Ate," she calls to me crying.
I could no longer avoid sobbing in tears. I held his hand tightly before kissing it.
"Why, Pow Pow? My sister can hear you. What do you want to say, my love?" I asked, crying.
He smiled at me sincerely. Even though his breathing was heavy he made me smile.
"I don't regret clinging to your leg before, that was the best thing that ever happened to me."
"I am never coming home
Leaving everything I've known
I am never coming home
Moon will cradle me home
I am never coming home
Leaving everything I've known
I am never coming home
Moon will cradle me home "
My chest tightened even more at what he said.
"I love you, I love you. Just hold on, the doctors are coming, k-just hold on Pow, huh? Promise your sister," I sobbed.
He smiled bitterly at me.
"I'll just leave you, sister, but don't forget to smile. A-Ate, even if you don't believe in yourself, even if you're the worst person in their eyes, for me, you're the kindest person I've ever met. -me, sister. I love you so much. Please, my sister, n-smile anyway. B-I'll watch over you, sister, I'll watch over you. "
He shut his eyes tight.
I couldn't even answer when I felt the nurses pulling me away from Pow Pow. I could hear the shrill sound inside the room.
Third's arms wrapped around me as I watched the doctors try to revive Pow Pow.
I no longer knew what was going on around me. I don't understand anything anymore.
"Is it too late to come by your window
'Cause I just have you on my mind
That's why
I'm making some room here inside
Of my rocket
Maybe you wanna go
With me "
"Pow, fight back, for sister," I prayed softly as I watched the doctors at their work.
I closed my eyes tightly when I heard the shrill and familiar sound that enveloped the room.
No ... No.
"Time of death, 11:59 PM."
"I'm flying out of here
Breaking atmosphere
Running out of air
Breaking atmosphere
Flying out of here
Breaking atmosphere
Running out of air
Breaking atmosphere "
Unbelievably I opened my eyes because of what I heard. Chasing the breath I passed the nurses and approached Pow Pow.
"Pow, awake," I cried before tapping him on the shoulder.
"Miss. Montevero, I'm sorry--"
"Shut up! He's not dead! No! No! He's not dead!" I shouted angrily before hugging Pow Pow tightly.
I angrily shook his body, I tried to revive him but Third stopped me.
"Say he's not dead yet, eh! Let me go! Let me go!" I sighed as I tried to drive them away.
"Baby, he's gone," Third whispered to me.
I just knelt down next to Pow Pow's bed. I held his hand while crying.
"Pow. Wake up, please. Wake up," I whispered hopefully.
"I'm flying out of here
Breaking atmosphere
Running out of air
Breaking atmosphere
Flying out of here
Breaking atmosphere
Running out of air
Breaking atmosphere "
I tried waking him up, but he never woke up again. On September 24, Pow Pow died on his birthday.
