The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

A Rare Moment

Ch. 528 / 790 May 05, 2026

The fire crackled softly, casting flickering shadows across the walls of the room. Lyra sat on a thick fur rug near the hearth, her knees drawn up as she stared into the flames.

The warmth was comforting, though her thoughts were far from peaceful. Cassian entered quietly, his golden eyes softening as they landed on her.

He joined her by the fire, his broad frame settling beside her with an unusual gentleness. For a while, neither of them spoke, the silence between them thick but not unpleasant. The tension from earlier still lingered, but it was softened by the quiet intimacy of the moment.

“I’ve been thinking about the future,” Cassian said suddenly, his deep voice breaking the silence.

Lyra turned her head slightly, her silver eyes watching him as he stared into the fire. “What about it?” she asked softly.

He hesitated, his expression uncharacteristically vulnerable.

“About our child,” he said, his tone distant but filled with an unfamiliar tenderness. “About the kind of life they’ll have.”

Lyra remained quiet, sensing he wasn’t done. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he continued.

“A strong Alpha,” he murmured, his eyes reflecting the firelight. “Someone who will protect this pack long after we’re gone.”

His words hung in the air, heavy with hope and responsibility. Lyra studied him, her heart heavy with emotions she couldn’t quite name.

Cassian, always so steadfast and commanding, now seemed almost fragile. It was a side of him she rarely saw—a man weighed down by the dreams and fears of fatherhood.

“You’re thinking about all this already?” she asked gently.

“I can’t help it,” he admitted, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “It’s hard not to imagine what they’ll be like. If they’ll be like you.”

Lyra’s chest tightened at his words, a mixture of warmth and sadness swirling within her. “I hope they’re like you,” she said quietly. “Loyal. Brave.”

Cassian turned to her, his golden eyes softening even further.

“They’ll need you, Lyra,” he said, his voice steady. “They’ll need your strength, your spirit. Everything that makes you who you are.”

She swallowed hard, the depth of his words sinking in. For a moment, the weight of their circumstances faded, replaced by a fragile sense of peace. She leaned back against the couch, her gaze drifting back to the fire.

Cassian reached for her hand, his touch warm and grounding. “Whatever happens,” he said softly, “we’ll make this work. For them.”
