The Alpha's Mate Who Cried Wolf

Chapter 128

Ch. 128 / 181 Nov 11, 2025

Inside the library, the air is filled with the scent of aging books and coffee and the soft voices of hushed conversations. We tread quietly along the wooden floors, past towering bookshelves that house an array of knowledge.

I smile as we approach Miss Smith, the librarian.

'Miss Smith,’ I greet her warmly. ‘It's great to see you again. I want to borrow the library keys,' I request.

Miss Smith gives me an odd look, removing her keys from her belt and handing them over. 'Of course, Alpha Magnus,' she responds, her tone hinting at the curiosity she tries to suppress.

'Thank you,' I say, recapturing Nina's hand. We head towards the forbidden door, and I unlock it.

'Alpha Magnus, Alpha!’ Miss Smith calls behind me. ‘You’re not permitted to enter that room. No one is allowed in the restricted area,’ she says anxiously.

Turning to face her, I offer a reassuring smile. 'I'm the Alpha, Miss Smith. I'm free to do whatever I want, and I'm in charge and responsible for this place,' I inform her. Miss Smith nods timidly, stepping back, hesitant to cast her gaze in the forbidden space as I unlock it and usher Nina inside.

I close the door behind us, and the room is as gloomy as the last time I visited.

'Do you think you could do the honours and provide us with some light so we can see?' I ask Nina.

Nina extracts her wand from her pocket. With a flick, a small flame emerges. She utters, 'Illumini!' The flame dances to her command, growing larger and brighter, casting its glow upon shelves adorned with dusty cobwebs and age-old books.

Nina's eyes sparkle with awe. ‘Woah! This is incredible. I had no idea this room existed,’ she exclaims, delicately trailing her fingers over the spines of books. 'These books must be hundreds of years old,' she marvels, nestling her wand into an empty candle holder on the stone-carved table at the room's centre.

'Surprise,' I announce, folding my arms and leaning against the time-worn stone wall as she navigates the room. 'I thought you might want to look through the books and bring one home to study. Unfortunately, no one has been allowed to access or read these texts because magic has always been prohibited,' I explain, casting an affectionate gaze upon Nina.

'Magnus, thank you so much,' she says, her appreciation manifesting in a tender kiss on my lips.

'You're welcome,' I reply, my heart beaming with contentment.

Nina's fingers delicately trace the spines of the antique books, her eyes flitting from one title to another. After selecting ten books, she gracefully carries them to the stone table in the centre of the room. Her nimble fingers start flipping through the pages of each book, absorbing the arcane knowledge within. Finally, she sets aside a particular volume, places the others back onto their rightful shelves, and approaches me with the chosen book in hand.

I glance at the title, 'A Book of Potions,' and a smirk plays on my lips. 'Why am I not surprised?' I tease, my eyes softening as I take in the enchanting sight of Nina immersed in magical texts. She runs her fingers over the edge of the stone table.

Nina laughs, fills the room as she tilts her head to stare at me, and shrugs in amusement.

Handing her the book, I retrieve the library keys from my pocket. I dangle them in the air with a playful smile, making them clink together. Nina watches me with curiosity, clearly wondering what I have in mind.

Surveying the disorganized stone table, my eyes fall upon a slender chain among the miscellaneous items. I grasp it, stepping behind Nina. Carefully, I thread the chain through the loop at the top of the key, securing it at the back of her neck. Nina gasps, her hand instinctively pressing against the key. 'Magnus?' she utters, surprise in her voice.

'This room belongs to you,' I murmur affectionately into her ear.

'Magnus, I'm at a loss for words,’ she admits, spinning around with a gleaming smile.

'How about I love you?' I suggest, with a chuckle.

Nina flicks her head back in laughter and then meets my gaze. 'Magnus, I love you,' she declares, reaching up to cup my face and sealing her words with a tender kiss on my lips.

The air in the room becomes charged with an electrifying intensity as our eyes darken with mutual desire. I clear a space on the stone bench, pushing aside various items with a swift gesture. With a confident lift, I hoist Nina up, and our lips meet in a passionate kiss. Nina's fingers glide through my hair as I skillfully unbutton my shirt, letting it fall to the floor. In a swift movement, Nina sheds her top, and I eagerly assist her in pushing her skirt up around her delectable waist.

My kisses trace along Nina’s collarbone and neck, and I playfully nip at her skin. Dust cascades off the stone walls, cobwebs shake, and the few jars and vials on the disorganized shelves rattle as we give in to the throes of passion. The thick stone walls mercifully conceal the sounds of our shared pleasure, ensuring that our intimate moment remains unnoticed within the confines of the library.

As we conclude our passionate encounter, with flushed cheeks yet a satisfied smile, Nina holds her chosen book in one hand. She raises her wand with the other and utters the incantation, 'Dimulous.' The flame on her wand flickers and fades, casting the room back into darkness. We casually walk out the door. Nina turns around to lock it with a gleeful glint in her eyes, holding her enchanted key securely in her grasp.

Nina's enthusiasm is contagious, and her radiant smile makes my heart pound with happiness. 'Magnus, this is incredible. We're forming an alliance with witches, I get to join a coven, and I've got my own secret room with all the magic literature I could ask for,' she exclaims, her eyes sparkling with joy.

I pull her close, wrapping an arm around her waist. ‘I would do anything for you, Nina. I would give you the whole world if I had to. I’d even give you the moon with all the stars, too,’ I express, gazing into her beautiful doe eyes.

‘Oh, Magnus. To me, you are everything. You are the whole world and the whole moon with all the shimmering stars,’ she whispers with a tenderness that warms my soul.

We share a passionate kiss, momentarily lost in each other, until a cheeky wolf-whistle from a library bystander brings us back to reality. Miss Smith, the librarian, scowls at everyone gawking at us. 'Shh, this is a library. Everyone needs to be silent,' she admonishes.

Before leaving the library, I return the ring of keys to Miss Smith, offering her a widened smile, though the key to the forbidden room conspicuously now remains in Nina's possession. The forbidden room is now Nina's personal haven.
