RECOGNITION
Isabelle and Jake were lying in bed in a deep sleep and enjoying each other's warmth when a figure sneaked into their room. Isabelle's wolf immediately sensed the presence of the unknown person and shouted in her head " intruder! " Isabelle with quick warrior reflects automatically jumped out of bed phasing in the blink of an eye and pinned the intruder against the wall snarling, the intruder screamed in response and chaos ensued.
Jake's wolf screamed at him to get up and help his mate and he woke up and turned just in time to see Isabelle jump out of bed and phase with unexpected speed.
Jake was momentarily stunned at the appearance of Isabelle's wolf - she was truly breathtaking.
She was larger than that of the average werewolf or even Alpha and nearly matched his wolf in height, her fur was moonlit white and looked so soft and shiny that he had an urge to reach out and stroke her and he was amazed to notice she had kept her mesmerising emerald eye colour in her wolf form, which was rare since almost every werewolf had the standard yellow wolf eyes when they phased. Apart from her beautiful appearance Jake notice her aura- it radiated raw power and dominance that was so strong even he the famed Demon Alpha naturally bowed his head slightly in submission. Suddenly Isabelle let out a ferocious snarl and as the intruder backed into the corner screaming in fear the bedroom door burst open snapping Jake out of his shock and making him jump out of bed and run towards Isabelle.
Carl, the Queen and Darren the Midnight Moon Alpha barged into the room and took in the scene before them.
Jake was behind Isabelle and was approaching her with his hands raised slowly like you would a frightened child and Isabelle was towering over a poor doctor who was trapped in a corner shaking with fear.
The Queen, Carl and Darren went to take a step forward to soothe Isabelle but Isabelle focused solely on protecting herself and more importantly her mate had lost control and her wolf had completely taken over and growled at them in warning.
Jake signalled for them to step back and they obeyed instantly." Isabelle... love it's me Jake, it's okay Isabelle he is no threat he's just a doctor see... please Isabelle I need you to take control of your primal instincts and allow your human side in to add reason to the situation. " Jake said as he approached her slowly and tried to reach past her wolf to reach her.
The soothing tone of Jake's voice made her wolf calm down and its primal aggression was slowly replaced by a need to please her mate. Isabelle's wolf turned to look at Jake he looked nervous, she didn't like that and wanted to reassure him so assessing the intruder one last time to recheck for signs of an imminent threat and finding none she slowly did as Jake asked and backed away from the intruder who quickly ran to Carl and then she turned towards Jake and sat on all fours to look at him.
"I am sorry. I meant no harm, I was only coming to change your bandages since it was nearly noon I assumed you were awake and after I knocked a few times and received no answer I was worried so came in to check. I should have known better with Isabelle being newly phased but considering your weakened state yesterday I felt it was my duty to check on your welfare." The doctor said looking nervously at Isabelle but not holding a grudge as she being the pack doctor knew it was difficult for newly phased Wolf's to control their primal instincts and that the harmony between your wolf and human took a lot of patience and training to receive.
" Come, let's let them have a moment together to talk then when they are ready they can freshen up and meet us downstairs for lunch? " The Queen said as she began to lead everyone out the room and Isabelle's wolf realising she had gone something wrong whimpered slightly and began to feel guilty about frightening the doctor, who even after the way Isabelle treated her still despite her nervousness smiled kindly at Isabelle.
When they were gone Isabelle phased back into human form and Jake sensing her guilt held her in his arms reassuringly. "Don't beat yourself up, Isabelle. Every wolf struggles to control their primal instincts after they phase for the first time and considering the circumstances surrounding you phasing for the first time and the fact your wolf is more powerful than any I have ever known it's only natural you should have stronger primal urges as well. You like every Werewolf will learn to control them it will just take a little time and training- that's all. " Jake stated factually in a way that made Isabelle feel slightly better knowing the way she acted was somewhat normal and she would eventually be able to control it.
"That poor doctor, I really frightened her and yet she was still so nice to me afterwards.... I really must apologise to her when I see her again.... that's if she will allow me too and not be too frightened by me. " Isabelle said out loud to herself.
"She's a pack doctor Isabelle, she's used to being around newly phased wolf's since some need medical help for the pain afterwards, I think was just shocked as she wasn't expecting you to be so powerful that's all and she got a fright not so much at you directly but at the power of your aura that was intimidating her wolf. I am sure once she settles her nerves she will be okay but for now let's go and freshen up and then we can go down and face them together.... how does that sound? " Jake said in a soothing voice.
" Okay. " Isabelle smiled and she made her way to the bathroom to help Jake freshen up and to shower the mud and blood from herself, she really was blessed by the Moon Goddess to have such a loving and supportive mate she thought.
After a very frustrating twenty minutes getting freshened up, where Isabelle's soft hands glided over Jake's hard muscles washing him gently and Jake watched her beautiful curvy body gleaming under the water in the shower as he brushed his teeth and both resisted the urge to claim one and other they had finally made their way downstairs.
As they walked into the banquet hall that had been set up for lunch the hall went silent and everybody starred at them but particularly Isabelle.
Isabelle stood rooted to the spot with nerves.
It was clear everyone had heard how she aggressively cornered the poor doctor and now they were all starring to get a look at the rumoured vicious beast she was... or so she thought. Just as Isabelle was about to apologise profusely the strangest thing happened... everyone in the hall stood even the King and Queen and they started to clap and shout chants of praise such as " let's hear it for the killer of the Rogue Alpha."
Jake smiled at Isabelle proudly, he assumed the Rogue Alpha was dead but he had yet to hear the story in full, he was however extremely proud of his Mate and happy she was finally by the look of things to be given the respect and love she deserved and missed her whole life.
Once the clapping quietened Jake took his mates hand and after being signalled over by the King he led her down the aisle towards the high table where the King, Queen, Carl, Alpha Darren and his Luna were seated and he stopped in front of the table and bowed respectfully and Isabelle following his led gracefully fell into a low courtesy.
"GET UP YOU DAFT WOLF! How many times have I told you you don't need to bow to me Jake your family and that goes for you too now Isabelle but not because you are Jake's mate but because you have not only saved my life from an assassin but you single-handed defeated the worse enemy of my kingdom the Rogue Alpha. Thanks to you Isabelle no more innocents shall be harmed by the Rogue Alpha nor his followers and the kingdom is saved! I King Soreen bow too you.... " The King fell into a deep bow honouring Isabelle, never before had a King bowed to anyone other than another member of royalty and everyone present was shocked no more so than Isabelle who stood gaping at the King with an open mouth.
" Your majesty.... " Isabelle started to mumble quietly unsure of what to say.
" Soreen..."
" Excuse me, your majesty...?" Isabelle replied.
" My name, it's Soreen I would prefer if you did me the honour of calling me by my name as friends do.... I am sure we will all be close friends." The King smiled.
"Kin.... I mean Soreen... you honour me deeply thank you but your praise is really unnecessary I only did what any wolf who was protecting their mate would do." Isabelle replied sweetly.
"You really are a treasure Isabelle, a strong warrior and modest too and it is clear you love Jake my dearest friend with all your heart. He is lucky to have you. " The King smiled at Isabelle warmly who blushed.
" You will be awarded for your bravery officially later Isabelle but for now come sit by me you must be famished! " The Queen said and Isabelle smiled at her warmly before walking around the table to join the Queen who quickly became a very good friend and everyone with the Kings blessing sat and waited on the maids bringing out lunch.
As the maids brought out lunch the noise in the hall resumed as everyone continued their conversation and over the chatter of loud conversations the Queens and Isabelle's joyous laughs and giggle echoed throughout the room making Jake and the King smile.
