Still In Love With You

Chapter 84- Save Me A Dance

Ch. 84 / 87 Sep 17, 2024

Sophie

I was so nervous, and I'm not even the one getting married today.

I walked in my heels from one end of the room to the other making sure everything was accordingly. I wanted this day to be perfect for my best friend. Troy deserves the best wedding ever.

I wanted to make sure everything was perfect for him. I tried my best to get everything done without having to worry him or Dylan.

I checked on the tables, the decoration, the bar, everything. It had to be perfect.

My heart was content as I see everything exactly how we had planned. Now the only thing to do was to wait for the wedding to start.

"Baby, will you slow down. I don't want you to overdue yourself, remember...the baby. You gotta rest, that's what the wedding planner is for. Don't make me call Loretta. Come on, take a breather will you?" Logan says as he pulls me to him. He hugs me, wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing my lips. Loretta was my doctor.

Logan and she have me on a strict no-stress, eat well, rest often schedule, along with the gross pills I have to take. I mean. I know I need prenatal, and folic acid and blah blah blah... But God I hate those iron pills. The taste of it in my mouth nauseates me.

She's a general doctor, but she's also one of the best O.B.'s that I know. I know I will be in good hands with her. Given what happened months ago with baby Spencer, she has me on a strict diet and rest, but Logan takes it literal.

"I know, I just want everything to be perfect." I say as I fix one of the small party favor boxes arranged on top of the plates. It was a tiny gold box with a gold ribbon and a tiny white rose, I personally made them with pastel-colored m&m's inside.

"And it is. Everything is fine, baby. Now come on, the boys are waiting for us." he says as he brings my hands to his lips, placing a kiss on my knuckles. "Now come on. The grooms want to meet with us."

We went up and met with both Dylan and Troy. They looked absolutely stunning. Dylan wore his marine suit, adorned with all his medals and colors.

Troy went with a black suit, a white buttoned up dress shirt and white tie.

All the groomsmen, including my big hunk, Logan, wore a navy blue suit with a white button-up and a light blue tie. As for us girls, we wore a navy blue dress, the sleeves were low around our arm, with a heart shape cut in front, the dress fit perfectly around our body and finished off in a lose mermaid cut.

The whole place was adorned with white roses, lilies, white daisies, and so many other beautiful white flowers, along with a hint of pink. The same type of arrangements that were used for the reception was used for the altar, along with a rainbow candle in the middle that they will be lighting together to signify their union.

"Hi beautiful. God, look at you? Pregnancy sure fucking looks good on you." Lexie smiles, grabbing a lose strand of my hair and tucking it behind my ear.

I smile as I hug Troy and then hug Dylan. "Me? Look at you two? You look amazing. God, I am so happy for you two."

"He's right though, Soph. You look so beautiful. I can't wait to hold another little Logan in my arms." she says as she reminisced in the day she first held Nate. She was the only one there for me that day. If only I could turn back time, I would have loved for Logan to be there. I was so selfish to keep him away from our son for so long.

We were then interrupted by Dylan's step sister, she knocked on the door, opening it right after and went inside. "Dylan, T, we're waiting on you guys." she says smiling.

We look over to her, and we all became more nervous than we had ever been before. We look back to each other, grabbing our hands together in a circle, "You guys ready?" Logan says looking at them. Dylan and Troy looked as if they were on the verge to cry.

"We can do this. We got this baby. I love you." Dylan says as he looks at T.

"I love you too, Dylan." he replies, giving him a kiss on his lips.

"We'll be waiting for you guys." Logan says as we leave them and make our way to the front of the altar.

The whole place was full, but my biggest shocker was to see Troy's parents coming in and sitting down next to his grandma. Mrs. Michaelson's eyes go wide, and she can't help but begin to cry.

They both embrace her, apologizing to her for everything.

The wedding commences, and everything goes perfectly, from the exchange of vows, to the exchange of rings and the lighting of the candle. More than a handful, or more like every girl in the room is literally crying, including myself.

I can't help stealing glances at Logan. He looks absolutely handsome in his suit. I can't wait to officially become Mrs. Spencer.

They finally announce the groom and groom, and they exit first, along with a cheer from everyone. We smother them with confetti as they exit the chapel, and flashes go off everywhere as we all take pictures of the newlyweds, hugging them, wishing them the best, blessing their union and posing for pictures.

My favorite was when I snapped a picture of Troy's dad hugging Dylan. They had finally accepted Troy and Dylan for who they were. They asked them for forgiveness and realized that they had wasted so many years fighting with him, out of fear of what they would say.

I was so happy for T. Sure, there were still many others who would talk, many that would condemn them for their relationship, and say hurtful words, but as long as they had each other, I knew it would all be ok. Besides, they have more than plenty of people who support them and love them.

Amber

The whole wedding was beautiful. Everything was beautiful. Geez, Troy and Dylan really are lucky guys. They have gone through so much together, and have passed every obstacle thrown their way.

Life has hit me hard, and I have had no choice but to learn so much. All I can say is that there is so much I regret from my past. So many karmic obstacles that I had to face because of my bad decisions.

I now see what Logan was talking about when he said that no other woman could ever take Sophie's place. Because even though Michael is not in my life, I know I will always love him. There will never be any other guy that can ever take his place.

The love we once shared will forever be embedded in my heart, and Mckenzie is the evidence of that love. Even if he never comes back, even if he moves on, he will always be someone special to me, because thanks to him, I was able to learn the true meaning of love.

I sat in my seat next to Mckenzie and Nate who devoured their cake. I was happy to look after them while Sophie and Logan danced. I gotta admit that I felt a little envious of their relationship. They are so perfect together and any one can see h0w much in love they are.

There were so many guys here in uniform, it made me feel melancholic knowing that Michael wore the same uniform as these men, and I so badly wished he would just walk through those doors and sweep me off my feet again.

I had to look away, took a long sigh and closed my eyes as I fought back tears. The knot in my throat was far too painful. I sniffled, shook it off, and reached out to grab a napkin to wipe my tears.

A strong hand reached out at the same time. I looked up, and was startled to see those same chocolate eyes I once fell in love with.

A more mature, stronger, more dominant man stood before me, but the sweetness of him was still there in his eyes.

" I hope you saved a dance for me." his husky voice said as he looks intensely into my eyes.

"Michael?"

"In the flesh." he says as his eyes become watery. He then looks at the kiddos next to me. McKenzie is too busy eating and laughing with Nate to notice her dad is just feet away from her. "How...what are you doing here?" I ask, with no reply back.

His eyes are glued to my brown hair, blue eyed beauty.

"Is that..." he says as he looks at her with pain and nervousness in his voice.

"It is." I say. He gets taken back. He sighs, and wipes away his tears, taking off his hat. He had called me a few weeks ago, I knew it was him, but he didn't say much other than repeating I'm sorry over and over before he hung up.

"Oh boy. She's... Beautiful. She looks just like,"

"You?" I add making him chuckle.

"Yeah. But she looks so much more like my mom. Can I?" he asks, pointing to her.

We then excused ourselves from the crowd. Every moment after was so emotional for the three of us. McKenzie was very emotional, she couldn't stop crying and they just took to each other, hugging and kissing their cheeks. We talked for a very long time, but we mainly aloud Kenzie to express herself to him.

Michael explained to her that he wanted to come on the day of her school dance, but he was sent somewhere else that same week. He was only here for the wedding, and he would have to leave in a few days.

He had gotten reassigned and had to ship out to Massachusetts. He would be there for six months and then sent back to Okinawa, Japan.

I can't believe he's here. But it breaks my heart to know he was leaving soon. Again.

What can I tell my daughter? She was a mess. She couldn't stop crying after finding out that her dad who she just met, soon had to leave again for God knows how long.

"Believe me, I would stay if I could. But this is my duty. I wish there was something I could do. But it's not like I can put you guys in a suit case and take you along!" he says joking, but you could feel pain in every word he said.

"Why not? Why can't you take me with you, dad? Please... Don't leave me again." her little voice broke me.

There was so much I wanted to say to him, so much to catch up on. So much he needed to catch up with his daughter.

"Sweetheart, they don't allow me to do that. The only way I can do that is if mom and I were married, and we're not married."

"Then get married. You still love my mom, don't you?"

"I... I do. I never stopped loving her. The only reason I didn't c0me back was because I felt broken, Amber. I never meant to leave you, I love you. I never got over you, but I thought... Who could love a marine suffering with PTSD?"

"I would. I love you, Michael. I never stopped loving you either. Believe me, your words never left me. It was mostly because of you that I realized how wrong I was. You were right, I was a spoiled brat." I say making him chuckle.

If there was anyone who made me realize that my behavior was wrong, it was him.

"I'm serious. You told me once and twice again how my behavior was hurting people. And it was because of you that I learned to ask for forgiveness and make the best out of life."

The night went by, and Michael and I sat with Mckenzie, explaining to her our situation and retelling her our story of how we met and how we b0th fell in love.

Michael was surely suffering from depression, and he didn't quite tell me everything he was going through. He's obviously not the same anymore, but it didn't mean he was a bad person. There was just... A lot... He had to deal with- mentally.

The night after the wedding, he came back to our home and spent the whole day with us. He had the privilege of taking Kenzie to bed for the first time.

He then got an ear full from dad, since, well, they were friends before he joined the marines and left me pregnant.

But in the end, dad forgave him.

He slept in my living room couch and promised that we would work something out for the best of Kenzie.

As for me, I couldn't sleep all night. Knowing he was gone for so long and was sleeping on my couch was still overwhelming. I feared that if I went to sleep, I'd wake up just to find out it was all just a dream and he'd be gone again.

Whatever life has in store for us, I hope my baby can finally keep her dad in his life for good this time. God, I really hope this time, he sticks around. At least by phone and face calls, whatever... I just want Kenzie to have him in her life.
