CHAPTER 131: Accidents Happen

Ch. 131 / 238 Apr 07, 2026

Lisa's P.O. V.

"Where is he?" Liv asked as she arrived at the hospital in a panic.

"They took him back to surgery," I answered her, trying to reign in my tears. It felt useless as I had been crying since the moment Davis got hit. It's been hours now and my tears won't seem to stop.

"What the hell happened?" Liv asked. She was scared and it was coming out as anger.

"He was coming to me, and ... he," I couldn't help the sob that left me as I recalled the car hitting him, knocking him down in an instant. "He was too focused on me. He didn't see the car."

"Jesus," Liv couldn't believe it as she paced the waiting room.

I hugged myself, trying to keep myself together with my own arms. I felt ready to break as I continued to wait for a doctor to come out and speak to us.

"Hi, I got a call that my dad's been in an accident." I heard a young girl speaking to the nurse behind the counter. She had blonde hair, braided in a mohawk with tattoos that peeked just over the collar of her shirt and down her arms. She had a strong jawline and a serious look about her with light green eyes that almost looked blue.

"He's in surgery." Liv called out to the girl.

Who is she?

"Liv! What the hell happened?" The girl asked, making her way towards us. She eyed me as she walked towards Liv. Probably wondering the same thing as I.

"He got hit by a car, crossing the street. He was to focused on saving someone to pay attention."

"That idiot," the girl cursed under her breath. She stared at the double doors leading back to surgery as if she could see what was happening back there.

"He's not an idiot," Liv and I said in unison, causing all eyes to land on me.

"And who the hell are you?" The girl snapped at me, probably feeling I was invading on some family moment.

What am I to Davis?

We haven't put a label on it. How can we when I'm engaged to some other guy? All I know is that we both love each other. That's all I need to know, too.

"This is Lisa. My sister-in-law and the woman your dad is seeing," Liv answered for me, seeing me struggle. The girls eyes widen before they narrowed on me suspiciously. Her eyes roamed my body, scrutinizing me. "Lisa, this is Izzy, Davis' daughter."

My jaw dropped as I looked at her. This was the famous Izzy. The one that Davis feels guilty over. The one that lost her mother and blames her father. She's the one that never sees him, that's pushed him to the side with anger. She was beautiful and strong just like him. Her arms were well toned, and her eyes were serious. She had a very intimidating resting bitch face, whereas I sat here looking like some broken weak woman.

"Her?" She pointed at me, as if disgusted by the idea. "How old are you?"

"27." I answered, letting myself go and standing more proudly. I didn't want her to see me in my weakest state.

"27? Are you serious? What's wrong with you two? You're not that far from my age."

I could tell this was too much for her to handle. I knew we would run into people that would not approve of our age gap, but I didn't think one of them would be his daughter. She looked at me like I was up to no good.

"Isabella!" Liv scolded her the same way a mother would scold her child. "Don't you dare! What they have is beautiful and needed. Your father hasn't been happy in a long time, don't you take this away from him. You hear me?"

Izzy wrinkled her nose in anger, crossing her arms before her. She looked at me a moment longer before turning to Liv.

"Whatever."

She marched off to sit at a chair in the corner away from us.

"Don't mind her. She's always in a bitter mood with loud opinions on everything." Liv tried to comfort me but it wasn't working. "Let's just sit and wait for someone to tell us what's happening."

Hours passed before someone came out to talk to the three of us. They told us that Davis' right leg was broken and had been repaired in surgery. He had a concussion, some internal bleeding, and some broken ribs, but that he was lucky considering what had happened. I didn't feel like he was lucky with how hurt he was, but the doctor knows best, I guess.

"You can see him one at a time if you like."

"I'll go," Izzy said, getting up and heading to the doors before the doctor. Izzy reemerged rather quickly only 10 minutes after she had gone in. "He's fine, so I'm heading back home. I have shit I need to do."

My heart broke for Davis at seeing how little love and affection his daughter held for him. I wished I could repair their relationship, but I don't know her that well to try and help.

"I'll go ahead, that way you can stay with him the entire time once I leave," Liv told me, squeezing my hand.

I nodded at her, letting her go in. Is this how she felt when Lucas had his car accident? I had gone in first with mom so I was able to ease my worry almost instantly, but Liv was the last one to go in and see him. She must have been so scared as she waited out here.

Liv took longer than Izzy, which I was both happy and upset about. I was ready to see him, but I was glad that he could have time with her. Liv finally came out 30 minutes later. She

held the door open for me and led me to Davis' room. She squeezed me in a tight hug before waving without a word.

I stepped into Davis' room, seeing him laying down and staring out the window. I rushed to his side, grabbing his hand and sitting in the chair that had been moved to sit beside him. He looked at me differently, and it made me worry. Was he mad at me for making him get hurt in a way?

"Come here," he said, breaking the silence as he patted the bed beside him. I carefully crawled in bed next to him, letting his arms wrap around me. I began to cry again. Stupid tears won't stop. "I'm so sorry about Izzy. Liv told me what happened. I hope you know that I'm serious about you, whether Izzy is accepting of us or not."

"Davis I am so sorry. You're hurt because me, and now I'm going to cause another rift between you and your daughter."

"Don't worry about that. I don't blame you for my getting hurt. That's entirely on me and my stupidity. I didn't see the car when I came towards you. Lisa, thank you for coming with me. Thank you for leaving behind your Dad and staying by my side. I may be a little broken right now, but I'll still keep you safe. Now tell me what happened in Chris' house. I saw how scared you looked when I saw you. That's kind of what made me not pay attention to anything else. Tell me it all, Lisa."

His hand rubbed my arm gently as he spoke. He knew something had happened. He could tell form just looking at me. I swallowed, feeling the tears build up in me again at the memory of Daniel trying to trap me in the bathroom. Davis held me close, somehow making me feel stronger. I took a deep breath before I began recounting everything to him.

"I'll fucking kill him. Just wait until I get better. He'll never touch a woman again," Davis seethed his threat through greeted teeth. He was absolutely furious.

"I still can't believe it. I mean, what kind of guy wants to sleep with his son's fiance? It's disgusting." I shuddered at the thought, still feeling his hands on me.

"I've got you now, Lisa. He'll never get to you. You did so good, my little warrior. You fought him and escaped him. I am very proud of you, Lisa."

His words were mending my heart, making me feel better. His praises were something I didn't realize I needed to hear. He was giving me strength I didn't know I still had in me.

"Thank you," I whispered, nuzzling my head further into his chest. The rhythmic beat of his heart calmed me further.

He 's okay.

"I love you, Lisa. You're my world and I won't let anyone hurt you." "I love you, too, Davis. Please take care of yourself, too. I can't lose you." "I'll be more careful. I am sorry I scared you."

I shook my head no at him. He shouldn't be apologizing to me. It's the other way around.

"No, I'm sorry you got hurt having to come rescue me. One of these days I'll be strong and you won't have to worry about saving me."

"I know, Lisa. I know that day is coming soon." He squeezed me tight, making me feel whole again.

"Do you think the hospital frowns on sex? I feel like I can't sleep unless you're inside me," I admitted, making him chuckle.

"Yeah, Lisa, I am sure the hospital would be unhappy with us if we did such a thing." I sighed, knowing he was right. "I promise once we leave here and I get you back home, I'll stay buried deep inside you for as long as you want."

"As long as I want?" I looked up at him with a brow arched, seeing his handsome smile.

"As long as you want," he confirmed.

"All day!" I said confidentiality. I want to feel him stay inside me for a full day, only slipping out to use the bathroom or eat.

"Damn, I like the sound of that."

We both drifted off to sleep, wrapped in one anothers embrace. I felt a hell of a lot better with him by my side. Now I'll just nurse him back to health.
