Talon's Perspective
I’d heard gossips about Caitlyn and Jayce earlier at the banquet, and followed her out when she left down in spirits.
Just as I was about to go over ad offer to send her home, I received a telepath messag. Something urgent happened back in my pack.
I had to go back immediately, so I asked Bard to drive Caitlyn home.
But my wolf was restless on my way back to the pack. I ignored it at first, because I thought it was because of the urgent thing that took place in the pack.
But the pain my wolf got sharper as I left the Purple Moon Pack further and further.
“Damn it! It’s Caitlyn and Bard!” My mind suddenly got particularly sober as the stabbing pain in my chest intensified.
I turned around immediately and dashed back to the Purple Moon Pack nonstop, until an indignant scene appeared in front of me in the deep forest.
My mate and my beta were cornered by a group of rogues, both dying!
“Howl!!!!!!” My wolf took control out of extreme rage and roared towards the moon in the sky before darting out towards the rogues and tearing them into pieces neat and quick.
I then drove Caitlyn and Bard to the pack hospital at full speed. After passing through countless red lights, my car finally stopped in front of the Emergency Center of the hospital, where the first-aid staff had been waiting.
Upon getting settled down in the operating room, a female doctor check on Caitlyn immediately. On the other side, another pack doctor hovered on top of Bard and performed CPR on him.
While waiting outside the operating room, I communicated with my Delta Theo through the mind link.
"Sent our warriors to search for the shifters that attacked Bard. I'm pretty sure that they haven't made it far from the Purple Moon Pack."
“On it!” Theo transformed into his wolf form immediately.
"I want you to track all of them down!" I gritted my teeth, seething.
Shortly after Theo left, Caitlyn’s doctor came out of the operating room.
“Alpha Talon, everything’s all right with Miss Caitlyn. We found no major injuries in her. It’s just…” The doctor paused in hesitation.
“Just what?!!” I took the collar of the doctor desperately, the claws of my wolf were about to show.
“Miss Caitlyn could lose the baby!” Terrified, the doctor blurted out.
"Those brute! I'll end them all!"
“Alpha, we got one attacker!” Just as I was about to shift, Theo mind linked me.
“Did he say anything?! Who’s the mastermind behind this?” I asked coldly.
“He wouldn’t say, no matter how we tortured him.” Theo answered in frustration.
“Bring him back here! I’m gonna interrogate him personally!!” With that, I went to grab a knife from my car.
The attacking rogue was brought in front of me soon.
"Who paid you to do this?" I stood up from my chair, demanding grimly.
Smirking at me, the rogue simply shook his head and look away.
"I could lose my baby because of you!" I shouted, approaching him, "If you’re not gonna use your tongue to tell me who your boss is, I might as well just cut it off!"
I then squeezed the rogue's jaw, forcing him to open his mouth.
“N-No!!!” He screamed and shuddered at the sight of the knife in my hand, wrigging on the silver chair where he was tied. "I'll tell you, Alpha Talon!"
"It was S—" The rogue suddenly stopped, his pupil dilated and eyes whitened.
"Did you poison him with wolfsbane, Theo?!" I leaned closer and got a whip of wolfsbane on his breath, shouting in anger as the rogue took his last breath.
"No, I didn't." Theo looked at me in bewilderment.
"He was poisoned with wolfsbane." My jaw clenched as the letter S lingered in my mind. “The attack was well planned.”
"S... S as in Shaco Lever?" Leo muttered in disbelief, "The Alpha of the Purple Moon Pack was the one behind this?! But why didn’t he not let go of Caitlyn? She’s his pack member after all!"
"I asked Bard to sent Caitlyn home when she left the banquet. The rogues must mistake Caitlyn in the car as me." I clenched my knuckles. "Ask all our warriors to meet us at the border of the Purple Moon Pack's territory."
"Are we wiping that goddamn pack?" My wolf asked in excitement.
"They had this coming!" I said when Caitlyn's doctor mindlinked me.
"Good news, Alpha Talon! Miss Caitlyn has come to herself and everything’s all right with the baby!"
"The baby’s all right?!" I asked in disbelief.
"Yes, Alpha! It’s a miracle. Usually, when a patient got hurt as much as Miss Caitlyn, she’d definitely loose her life, not to mention the baby!" The doctor exclaimed.
“How’s she now?”
“She’s back in sleep in the ward now. After experiencing such a horrible incident, she needs more rest.”
In the ward, I traced Caitlyn’s face with one finger and found her complexion perfectly fine, as if she had never been attacked at all.
"Could it be that Caitlyn's wolf woke up? Her father is a powerful shifter after all." I paced back and forth in the ward, wondering why Caitlyn recovered so fast when she got injured just as badly as Bard.
"Could mate be one of the special shifters blessed with the healing ability? Maybe her wolf was simply in the dormant state before the attack." My wolf conjectured when a weak voice sounded in the quiet ward.
"T-Talon?" Caitlyn struggled to sit up when I turned to look at her.
“Don’t!” I rushed to her bed, stopping her.
"Why?" She looked puzzled until her hands rested on her tummy. "The baby…Are we losing our baby?!"
"The baby is fine,” I took her hand into mine, trying to calm her down. “And you may feel fine too, but you need to stay here and recover. Now go back to sleep and I’ll come back here to see you again."
"Where are you going?" Caitlyn grabbed my hand when I was about to stand up from the bed.
Clearly, she hadn’t quite recovered from the horrible attack a few hours ago.
"The rogues who attacked you and Bard. I need to find out the mastermind behind them. But you’re safe here." I patted on her shoulders gently, trying to convey her the sense of safety.
“O-Okay, keep safe.” Caitlyn let go of my hand reluctantly.
