Caitlyn's POV
Even as someone who hadn't witnessed many scenes of war, I could now analyze the situation in front of me and recognize it as unfavorable for us.
"Damn, I didn't expect the Alpha of a small pack to be so scheming," Talon remarked.
Talon looked up at the enemies closing in around us, and his hands tightened slowly.
"Well, Pantheon, do you appreciate the gift I've bestowed upon you?" Alpha Shaco shouted at my father, commanding the werewolf warriors.
"I've known for a long time that you would help Talon. I contacted the men of The Glorious Moon pack to set up an ambush here, just waiting for you to show up."
"Pantheon, remember me? I can't believe you would have such a day."
Before Alpha Shaco's words left his mouth, a werewolf with a large beard suddenly emerged from the crowd, a shocking scar on his forehead.
"Father," I exclaimed.
Judging by the reactions of the people around me, this appeared to be the most perilous situation I had ever encountered. Instead of Alpha Shaco initiating this encounter solely to kill Talon, it seemed he seized the opportunity to eliminate both me and my father.
As if sensing my concern, my father shook his head without moving.
"It's you, the Glorious Moon pack's Alpha Simon, the one defeated by me ten years ago. I didn't think you'd have the audacity to return. It seems you believe the scar on your head isn't deep enough."
My father chuckled softly, then stood up straight, shielding Talon and me behind him.
"Enough with the pointless banter. Today is destined to be your death!"
Alpha Simon, provoked by my father's words, transformed into a giant wolf and lunged towards my father in annoyance.
Yet, my father showed no fear. With a stomp of his foot, accompanied by a roar erupting from his throat, he resisted Alpha Simon's attack without transforming into a werewolf this time.
The evident difference in strength between Alpha Simon and my father became apparent.
"Alpha Shaco, what are you waiting for?"
Observing that his initial strike had failed, Alpha Simon turned his head to address Alpha Shaco, who stood to the side. He couldn't help but urge him on.
"You're so useless."
Alpha Shaco muttered and, once again, transformed into a giant wolf, lunging toward my father.
Despite facing the combined assault of the two alphas, my father remained calm and skillfully maneuvered around them, transforming into a giant wolf himself. However, as time passed, his stamina dwindled, and I could hear his exhausted gasps from a distance.
Just as Talon was about to step forward to assist, Jayce entered the fray with another group. My father weaved back and forth across the battlefield, werewolves around him spitting blood and occasionally flying backward. Yet, my father's body gradually accumulated wounds, and blood started to drip from him.
"Try harder; he won't last much longer."
Sensing my father's slowing attacks, Alpha Simon shouted in surprise, revealing new wounds inflicted by my father. The entire forest echoed with shouts, the ground in disarray, and dying werewolves cowering in corners.
To many of the werewolves, my father's defeat seemed inevitable. Once a formidable force, he now appeared as nothing more than a late old man. The fact that he had endured this long already surprised many.
"Talon, take Caitlyn first if you can!"
My father dodged one of Alpha Shaco's attacks, simultaneously knocking down a werewolf behind Talon who intended to sneak up on him. He then approached Talon and shouted.
"Thinking of leaving? It won't be that easy."
Jayce, wearing a satisfied grin as if anticipating his own victory.
"Listen up, prioritize capturing Talon alive; he's the one the Lycan King specified. Once the mission is complete, we can join the Lycan!"
Jayce raised his sword and pointed it at the exhausted Talon.
"What about the others?"
"Eliminate them all," Jayce said indifferently, his eyes devoid of emotion as he glanced at me.
"Shit!"
At that moment, I heard a muffled grunt from my father, followed by him curling up and ducking aside, leaving a long trail of blood on the ground.
"Hurry up... I can't last much longer," my father said, frowning, blood seeping through his clothes and staining his palm as he covered his back.
I had never seen my father look so powerless in front of me. The man who had once cared for me like a mountain now collapsed, and a volcano of anger surged within me.
"Now!"
Witnessing the successful strike, Alpha Simon's lips curled up, and he lunged once again towards my father.
However, it was evident that my father had no room left to dodge this attack.
Countless eyes were fixed on the impending tragedy in the field.
"Ah!"
Suddenly, accompanied by an agonizing howl, Alpha Simon was sent flying backward, crashing into a large tree. Terror was written all over his face as his entire body trembled, prostrating himself on the ground.
The crowd followed Alpha Simon's gaze, only to see a tall white giant wolf emerging in the center of the battlefield. The astonishing fluctuation from earlier had also been created by her.
"Caitlyn?!"
Jayce looked at me incredulously, or rather, at the white giant wolf that I had transformed into.
Jayce couldn't have imagined that the ending was already predetermined and that I would be the most significant variable.
"Damn, what the hell is going on?" After witnessing my astounding attack, Alpha Shaco couldn't help but curse. Now that it has come to this, he has no way back.
"Listen, everyone, whether they are alive or dead, take them all down!" The expression on Alpha Shaco's face grew increasingly hideous as he shouted hysterically. The werewolves under his command heard Alpha Shaco's order and foolishly attacked in my direction.
However, in the next instant, the power that filled my body almost caused it to burst. Especially after witnessing the misery of my father and Talon, my anger became my most potent force. I raised my head high, and the mournful cry that escaped my throat manifested a wolf snarling out, swirling the wind and sand around me, attacking the enemies in my vicinity.
Boom!
Accompanied by a loud roar, a violent energy storm raged on, and the battlefield resounded with screams. When the smoke and dust cleared, a deep trail visible to the naked eye was left behind in the surroundings. The entire battlefield fell into a dead silence; no one could have imagined that the round of attacks I unleashed would be so powerful.
However, at this very moment, a profound sense of exhaustion swept through my entire body. Perhaps this was the side effect of using power that exceeded the limits of my flesh.
"Caitlyn, are you okay?" Talon cried out and ran to me, holding my body before I could barely collapse.
But at this moment, my belly vaguely ached, as if someone had taken a dagger, plunged it into my stomach, and gently stirred it. Cold sweat instantly covered my entire body.
An extremely terrifying thought spread through my mind.
