Pregnant After Being Marked By The Dangerous Alpha

Chapter 40

Ch. 40 / 113 Apr 24, 2026

Caitlyn's POV

Talon evidently sensed the abnormality of the moment, and with a flicker of excitement in his eyes, he kissed even more passionately.

Under Talon's kisses, I felt myself slowly melting, and my body grew warm. My remaining consciousness signaled a crisis; I shouldn't be reduced to a tool for Talon to satisfy his desires.

Talon's eyes flashed with a strange reddish light as his kisses intensified, and his hands climbed up my back.

"No, don't," I struggled to stop Talon's advances, but he acted as if he hadn't heard me. His hands, seemingly oblivious, traced the seams of my dress.

"No, not here," I pleaded, lifting my head, my eyes misty. In Talon's eyes, my outcry likely appeared as nothing more than a shameful plea.

Sensing the impropriety of his actions, Talon reluctantly left my lips. "Come on, let's go to my room," he suggested with a playful smile, licking his lips.

Although I understood the impending situation, reason told me to stop here, not allowing myself to be reduced to a mere tool for Talon's lust. However, in that moment, I felt like a puppet, a slave to my desires, my legs following Talon's lead.

Talon's wide hand grasped mine, leading me slowly to his room. His room maintained the style he once had, with candlelight flickering gently, and the air thick with the scent of musk. In Talon's bedroom stood a wide bed with loosely arranged bedding.

"Welcome," Talon smirked before approaching me.

I cautiously backed away until I reached the edge of the bed. "What do you want?" I asked Talon, feeling a bit shy. However, my words seemed to signal Talon to launch his attack.

Suddenly, he ripped off his shirt, revealing his solid chest. His entire body lunged at me, pressing me tightly against the bed. Talon resembled a hungry wolf that hadn't eaten in a long time, finally finding his prey. He buried his head in my chest and panted greedily.

The touch of his hands caused a warmth to spread through me, and I instinctively arched my back, gently biting my lip as a soft, dreamy moan escaped my throat. Talon released a loud, ragged breath and skillfully tore the fabric from my chest with his mouth.

Instantly, my breasts sprung free, no longer confined by the fabric. Even Talon seemed momentarily stunned by the sight. He swallowed hard, his face flushed, before vigorously caressing my body with his hands.

I closed my eyes, feeling desire intensify and gradually overtake my senses. Eventually, I abandoned all inhibitions and opened my arms to embrace Talon. He visibly hesitated at my bold move, but with a nod, he resumed his advances.

Talon's lips traced a slow path down my chest, finally resting on my stomach. His eyes betrayed a complexity as he contemplated my belly where the child we once envisioned conceiving in. Thoughts of a happy life after the birth had now become nothing, like smoke and mirrors.

A tinge of sadness welled up in my eyes, and the passion in my body ebbed away. Sensing my unease, Talon's hands came to a gradual halt. He sighed before assisting me with the covers and taking a seat beside me.

"Sometimes I've wished for the simplicity of being an ordinary werewolf," he admitted, the moonlight casting a mythical glow on his shirtless form. "No constant strife and grudges, just a normal routine—commuting, working, returning home to share dinner with a loved one, and playing games with our children."

Yet, he acknowledged the drawbacks of an ordinary life. "But regular folks have their own troubles. Commuting daily, meager salaries, struggling for survival. You're different; you bear your own weighty responsibilities and must make sacrifices to navigate them."

I glanced up at Talon; in this moment, he wasn't a powerful Alpha, but rather a vulnerable man in need of comfort. Slowly, I sat up and embraced him. We remained silent for a while, two broken hearts finding solace in each other.

"What do you think about Kaisa?" I suddenly inquired about Kaisa, catching Talon off guard. He stayed silent for a moment before responding slowly.

"She is genuinely a good person. If it weren't for the king, we could have been friends. It surprised me when she spoke that way at the palace, but I can't dismiss the possibility that it was part of the King's plan."

"Are you suggesting that Kaisa is also involved in the king's plan?" I was a little surprised.

"Yes, because I sense the King is still wary of me. With his full support for Kaisa and me to bond as mates, it's hard not to overthink it." Talon furrowed his brow, conveying his confusion.

"What do you think Kaisa will do?"

"I don't know. Honestly, I can't fully understand her, and many of her earlier actions weren't at the King's behest. But I can't rule out the possibility that she's intentionally trying to gain our trust," Talon said calmly, glancing at me with a hint of hesitation.

"Will you continue to act coldly towards me in front of them?"

"I'm sorry, Caitlyn. Now that we're in the light and our enemies are in the dark, I have to do this," Talon replied calmly, a trace of guilt in his eyes.

"Yeah, I understand." I managed to force a smile and nodded. Although the response was expected, a pang of loss lingered in my heart.
