Caitlyn's POV
Hearing Kaisa's shout, I couldn't help but feel a jolt in my heart.
It was obvious that when Kaisa and I were together before, she had hidden some tracking signals in my body; however, I had never realized it.
Kaisa's sensing that I was around provoked Naafiri step by step, and I was afraid it was to lure me out.
"What's going on?"
As soon as Kaisa's words could fall, the few werewolves present looked in unison toward the direction where I was hiding.
My heart sank as I knew for sure that I couldn't hide at that moment. I had to paw through the bushes and step out.
"It turned out to be a human woman. Kaisa, I think you're really stupid. Give up the Alpha's position earlier."
Seeing me, thinly built, walk out from the bushes, the crowd was initially hesitant. When they finally confirmed that I was the only one, the expressions on their faces visibly relaxed.
"It seems that you've long known I was hiding there."
Ignoring the aggressive werewolves, I twisted my head to look at Kaisa. At this moment, Kaisa had a relieved smile on her face, leaning against the large tree, panting softly.
"I was just betting that you wouldn't watch me die here."
"What makes you so sure? You're my rival."
I narrowed my eyes, once again sizing up the woman in front of me. As an Alpha, she did have enough tricks up her sleeve to be considered the smartest woman I've ever met. However, the miserable state she was in at the moment was clearly not part of her plan.
"Hey, since you're here, you shouldn't leave either. I've heard that human women's body can be very soft and smooth, and I heard that you're Talon's mate. To be honest, I especially despise that kind of useless man. So why don't you choose me as well?"
Naafiri licked his tongue, a lascivious smile on his face.
"You're really a pathetic wretch whose brain is controlled by his lower body." I shook my head lightly, looking at him with disdain.
"What did you say?"
Hearing me say that, Naafiri glared at me, the wolf within him letting out a shocking growl in anger.
In the past, I might have been intimidated by the situation, but at this moment, my heart was calm, like still water.
This was because I had long seen through their strength. With this realization, my body curved slightly, and power began to slowly spread through my limbs.
Just then, a sharp cry erupted from my arms, and the little white fox poked its head out, curiously surveying the surroundings.
"White fox?"
The onlookers appeared shocked at the sight, but a trace of ecstasy soon crossed their faces. Even Kaisa, who was knowledgeable, seemed a bit incredulous.
"I didn't expect you to find the legendary creature in the Misty Forest. How many more secrets do you have that I don't know about?" Kaisa said, regaining some color in her face after the rest she had just taken.
"You truly are my goddess of luck. When I'm done with all of you, I'll ask the king for one more favor," Naafiri said with a smile as if he had already won in his mind.
However, Naafiri failed to notice that the eyes of the werewolves next to him, staring at the little white fox, were becoming increasingly frenzied. No one would dare deny the allure of the king's promise, and the little white fox was the best shortcut.
"Come on, will you hand it over willingly, or shall we take it from you?" Naafiri took a step forward, eyeing the little white fox in my arms. The fox, sensing danger, hid in my clothes once again.
Naafiri, losing patience, lunged straight at me. I bent down, using the inertia of my body to slide underneath him and dodge his attack.
Seeing the failed attack, Naafiri cried out in frustration. He opened his mouth, revealing sharp teeth, and a fishy stench emanated from his breath.
"Get yourselves together! Take down this human woman, and White Fox will be ours. The king will surely reward us generously!" Naafiri shouted, but the other werewolves didn't swarm as he had hoped.
A few of them exchanged glances, but none took a step forward.
"You losers! You dare to disobey me? I'll not spare you all when we get out of here!" Naafiri looked annoyed, but he couldn't care less at the moment and came straight at me.
When the other werewolves heard Naafiri's words, their faces changed, and after a moment of hesitation, they followed behind Naafiri, slowly surrounding me.
"Watch out behind you!" Kaisa suddenly shouted.
With the help of the corner of my eye, I realized there was a short werewolf hiding behind me, his hand clutching a dagger, stabbing straight toward my lower back. Almost subconsciously, I spun halfway around the werewolf to avoid his attack.
But before I could catch my breath, Naafiri and a few other werewolves launched their attacks.
"Go to hell!" Naafiri had a cold smile on his face, and madness was evident in his eyes.
Just as his attack was about to succeed, a white shadow suddenly flew out from my body, heading straight towards the outer edge of the battle circle.
"White fox!" someone in the crowd shouted, and all eyes turned to chase after the mass of white shadow. Although Naafiri was unwilling, he put away his attack and turned to run.
"It's our chance!" I sighed, and with a sharp push of my feet, I rushed towards Kaisa. Taking advantage of everyone's attention on the white shadows, I picked up Kaisa and ran towards the outskirts of the forest.
Naafiri was the first to notice something was wrong and managed to stabilize her position.
"Damn, we're cheated. Go get them!"
It was only then that they realized the white shadow they had been pursuing earlier wasn't a white fox but just a white cloth.
The hazy night, combined with my intensity, had led them to mistake it for a fox, prompting them to recklessly give chase.
By the time they realized that, I had already spirited Kaisa away from the commotion, heading back in the direction we came from.
If we reached where other hunters were gathered, Naafiri's plan would naturally unravel. After all, plotting against an Alpha in this match was something no one dared to do openly.
"I can't believe you still have it in you," Kaisa remarked, lying on my back and offering an unexpected compliment.
I didn't respond to her words. Naafiri, realizing he had been duped, transformed into a giant wolf and pursued us relentlessly.
As the distance between us diminished, my heart raced faster. Simultaneously, my body began emanating a true white light—a sign of my overflowing power. The physical pain struck me once again, and the wolf's howling within me grew louder.
Lost in my agony, I failed to notice a surprised voice emanating from a dark corner not far away.
"How is that possible?"
