Never Just Friends

Together in the Storm

Ch. 242 / 300 Mar 01, 2026

Finn’s arrival was a whirlwind. The sound of his truck screeching to a halt outside, followed by his hurried steps inside, was the only thing that pierced through Hanna’s mounting anxiety. When he reached her, there were no words; he simply pulled her into a tight embrace, wrapping his arms around her like he never planned to let go.

“We’ll figure this out,” he said, his voice low, yet steady. The calmness in his tone didn’t match the storm brewing in his eyes, but it gave her a sliver of hope. “Whoever this is, they won’t touch you.”

Hanna closed her eyes for a moment, savoring the comfort of his embrace. But as much as she wanted to believe him, fear still lingered in the pit of her stomach. This wasn’t just about her anymore—whoever was behind this had shown they were willing to target both of them.

“I’m not so sure, Finn,” Hanna murmured, pulling back slightly so she could meet his eyes. “They’re not just after me. They’re after you too.” Her voice trembled as she said it, the weight of the situation finally settling in.

Finn’s expression darkened, his jaw tightening in a way that Hanna had never seen before. The tension in his shoulders was palpable, but he wasn’t about to back down. “Then we fight back,” he said, his words fierce. “No one gets to threaten us like this.”

Hanna’s heart swelled at his resolve, but a part of her was still uncertain. How could they fight someone who was watching them, who knew their every move? How could they stop a threat that was lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike?

“We don’t know who it is yet, Finn,” Hanna said, a new wave of fear washing over her. “What if it’s someone we know? Someone we trust?”

Finn took her hand gently, his thumb brushing over her knuckles in a silent promise. “We’ll figure it out. But we won’t do it alone. We’ll face this together, every step of the way.”

His words were reassuring, but Hanna couldn’t shake the sense of dread that clung to her. She wanted to believe in him, in them, but Ciara’s hold on their lives had been so strong, so suffocating, that she wasn’t sure how much longer they could hold on.

“I don’t know how much more I can take,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Finn cupped her face with both hands, his gaze locking onto hers. “You’re stronger than you know, Hanna. And together, there’s nothing we can’t overcome.” His voice was filled with conviction, as if he truly believed that no matter what came next, they would survive it.

Tears welled up in Hanna’s eyes, and she fought to keep them at bay. She had been through so much already, had seen so many of her relationships fray and unravel, but with Finn, it felt like there was still hope.

“I need you, Finn,” she whispered, her voice cracking.

“You’ve got me,” he said, leaning in to kiss her forehead. The kiss was gentle, but it was enough to ignite a spark of warmth in her chest. “You’ll always have me.”

For a moment, the world outside faded away. In Finn’s arms, Hanna felt a brief sense of peace—like maybe, just maybe, they could face whatever came next, as long as they were together.

But as the night stretched on, the reality of their situation loomed over them. They couldn’t afford to ignore the looming threat for much longer. Whoever was watching them wasn’t going to stop, and the storm that had already torn through their lives was far from over.
