Never Just Friends

The Warning Escalates

Ch. 241 / 300 Mar 01, 2026

Hanna couldn’t shake the feeling of dread that settled over her as she stared at the photo. Finn, completely unaware, sitting in his truck with no indication that he was being watched. The unknown number’s message seemed to echo in her mind: I warned you. Now it’s your turn to suffer.

Her fingers trembled as she typed out a message, but her phone buzzed again before she could respond. The new photo made her stomach turn—Finn was alone, but the image seemed to imply a looming threat. She couldn’t help but wonder just how far this person was willing to go.

Her heart raced as she hit dial on Finn’s number. The phone rang three times before he answered, his voice a sharp contrast to the fear flooding through her.

“What’s wrong?” Finn’s voice was low, concerned, but there was an edge to it that made her chest tighten.

“Someone sent me a picture of you,” Hanna said quickly, her breath shaky. “They’re watching us, Finn. I don’t know who this is, but they’re getting too close.”

Silence followed, thick and heavy, as Finn processed her words. Hanna could hear his breathing on the other end, deep and steady, but his silence spoke volumes.

“I’ll be at your house in ten minutes,” Finn said, his voice calm but determined. Hanna felt a rush of relief, knowing that he would be there soon. He wasn’t going to let her face this alone, and that made all the difference.

“I’ll be here,” Hanna whispered, her voice barely audible as she tried to steady herself.

She quickly ended the call and leaned back against her bed, trying to gather her thoughts. What kind of person would go to these lengths just to hurt them? Was it someone close? Someone who knew their every move? The questions piled up in her mind, each one more terrifying than the last.

She didn’t have to wait long before she heard the familiar sound of Finn’s truck pulling up in the driveway. His presence was a comforting relief, but the unease in her stomach wouldn’t subside. This wasn’t over—whoever was behind this would not back down so easily.

Finn knocked lightly on her door before stepping inside, his eyes scanning the room. Without a word, he crossed the floor, wrapping her in his arms, pulling her close.

“I’m here, Hanna. We’ll figure this out together,” Finn murmured, his voice strong and steady.

Hanna clung to him, the tears threatening to spill over. “I don’t know what to do anymore, Finn. This is bigger than us. I thought maybe we were done with the worst of it, but now…”

“We will be done with it. Together,” Finn said, his hands gently cradling her face as he looked her in the eyes. “I won’t let anything happen to you. Not while I’m here.”

Hanna nodded, trying to convince herself that his words were true. But deep down, the weight of the unknown hung over her like a dark cloud, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that things were about to get even worse before they could get better.

As Finn sat beside her on the bed, they both knew that the battle wasn’t over. The next move was out of their hands now, and all they could do was prepare for whatever came next.
