The cryptic message haunted Hanna all night.
She stared at her phone, rereading the text over and over:
“You may have taken Ciara down, but you’re not safe. Watch your back.”
Who sent it? It didn’t feel like Ciara’s style—her threats were loud and direct. This was something darker, colder.
Hanna’s thoughts spiraled as she typed out a message to Emily.
Hanna: I got a new threat. This doesn’t feel like Ciara.
Emily: Call me.
Later, Hanna sat on the edge of her bed, the phone pressed to her ear as she explained the message to Emily.
“This doesn’t make sense,” Emily said, her voice tinged with unease. “If it’s not Ciara, then who is it?”
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out,” Hanna said, pacing the room.
“What if it’s someone we don’t know about?” Emily’s voice dropped. “Someone worse?”
Hanna’s stomach churned at the thought. “I thought this would end with Ciara. What if it never ends?”
“It will,” Emily said firmly. “But we need to figure out who’s behind this before they make their next move.”
