Moon Goddess, Name Him

chapter 25

Ch. 25 / 30 Apr 10, 2026

POV Cassidy

The moment our kiss ended, fire exploded through my veins.

"It's starting," I gasped, doubling over as agony lanced through my bones. The transformation I'd been dreading and anticipating for weeks was finally beginning.

Theo caught me as my knees buckled. "Ruth," he called urgently. "We go to Ruth now."

The pain intensified with each heartbeat, as if something inside me was clawing its way to the surface. My vision blurred as Theo lifted me in his arms and ran through the darkness toward Ruth's cottage.

The ancient woman was waiting in her doorway, as if she'd sensed what was coming.

"Bring her to the sacred grove," Ruth commanded. "The full moon rises, and the transformation must happen under open sky."

Theo carried me to the clearing where moonlight streamed between ancient oak branches. Ruth arranged candles in a perfect circle around us, their flames flickering in the night breeze.

"Lay her here," Ruth instructed, gesturing to the center of the circle. "The Moon Goddess will guide her through the change."

I writhed on the soft earth as pain beyond description tore through my body. It felt like every bone was splintering, every muscle tearing apart and rebuilding itself.

"I can't," I sobbed. "It hurts too much."

"You can," Theo whispered, kneeling beside me. "I'm here. I won't leave you."

Ruth began chanting in a language older than memory, her voice weaving through the moonlight like silver thread. The ancient words seemed to resonate in my bones, calling to something deep inside me that had been sleeping for twenty-seven years.

The burning in my blood intensified. My spine arched as my skeleton began reshaping itself, joints popping and grinding as they found new positions. Skin stretched and tore, though strangely there was no blood—only light bleeding through the cracks in my human form.

Through the agony, I heard whispers and felt a presence that wasn't quite touching.

Daughter of the moon, a voice murmured in my mind. Embrace what you were born to be.

The Moon Goddess. Speaking directly to me as my body destroyed and rebuilt itself under her light.

The prophecy of division ends with you. Choose unity, and be free.

My ribs cracked and reformed. My skull elongated with grinding sounds that should have terrified me but instead felt sacred, necessary. Every fiber of my being was coming alive for the first time.

"Let go," Ruth's voice cut through the supernatural whispers. "Stop fighting the change. Surrender to what you are."

I released the last threads of human control and let the wolf consume me completely.

Silver fur erupted across my skin like moonlight made manifest. My senses exploded with overwhelming input—every scent in the forest, every heartbeat of the small creatures nearby, the ancient power thrumming through the earth itself.

When the transformation completed, I opened eyes that now saw the world in entirely new ways.

The prophecy is broken, the Moon Goddess's voice whispered one final time. You are free.

Theo shifted beside me, his brown wolf form solid and reassuring. For the first time since the bonds began forming, there was no confusion, no painful pulling in different directions. The connection between us felt pure and right and complete.

We ran together through a forest, leaving besides Ruth. Our paws are silent on moss and fallen leaves. Every stride felt like flying, like coming alive after years of sleepwalking. The mate bond pulsed, connecting us in ways I'd never imagined possible.

When we reached a clearing silver with moonlight, we shifted back to human form. The change was smooth now, natural. We knelt facing each other on the soft grass, both trembling from transformation and connection and the weight of everything that had led to this moment.

"You're beautiful," Theo whispered, his hands framing my face. "Perfect."

When he kissed me, I melted. His lips were firm but gentle, carrying both hunger and care. My chest ached with how much I wanted this, how much I needed it. Every movement of his mouth against mine stole more of my breath.

We lay beneath the moon, its glow washing over us like a blessing. His hand slid down my side, warm and steady, until it rested at my hip. I shivered, not from fear but from the intensity of his touch.

His kisses deepened, slower but heavier, until my body hummed with desire. His hands explored with reverence, tracing the lines of my skin like I was both fragile and powerful at once. My wolf stirred inside me, purring with approval, urging me closer.

When he pressed his forehead to mine, I felt the bond flare between us. It was tender, grounding, but underneath it ran a spark of heat that grew sharper every second. My body arched against his, and his low groan told me he felt it too.

“Mine,” he whispered, his lips brushing down my throat.

I gasped as his teeth grazed my skin. Not a bite, a promise. The sensation made my pulse quicken, my body tightening with anticipation.

Every touch was careful. Every kiss was sweet. But every movement carried a heat that made me tremble.

I clung to him, whispering his name like a vow. And as his arms wrapped around me, strong and protective, I knew I wasn’t just being held. I was being claimed—in the softest, sweetest, and most intoxicating way.

Afterward, we lay entwined in the silver light, my head on his chest where I could hear his heartbeat strong and steady.

"Cassidy," Theo said softly, his fingers combing through my hair.

I lifted my head to look at him. His brown eyes held certainty and love so deep it took my breath away.

"Be my Luna," he whispered. "Be my wife. Not because of prophecies, but because I can't imagine existing without you."

Tears blurred my vision as joy expanded in my chest like sunrise.

"Yes," I breathed. "Yes to everything."

Under the ancient oaks, surrounded by moonlight and magic and the promise of forever, Theo kissed me again.

The prophecy was broken. The choice was made. The transformation was complete.

We were free to love each other without conditions, without supernatural compulsion, without anything but the deep certainty that we belonged together.
