Ellis
I grabbed my phone immediately and called Love. I was pacing and hoping that her engagement was false. That the press was wrong about it.
" Hello. Good morning, babe," she sounded cheerful over the phone. My heart was racing in my chest. My family was watching me anxiously.
" Are you engaged to David Kofflin?" I asked urgently. Silence. It was quiet, but I could hear the racing of her heart.
" Love?" I called.
" Yes. Ellis, we need to talk," she said softly. She didn't need to tell me what that meant. I threw the glass I had in my hand against the wall. Everyone was surprised. My lycan was growling in anger. Did Love betray me? Was she getting back at me for what I did to her? I felt like I couldn't breathe.
" Ellis, David just-" I couldn't hear it any longer. I was in so much pain. I threw my phone across the room, shattering it to pieces. My grandmother rushed to me, patting my back gently.
" Ellis, son, calm down. You didn't even let her finish a sentence," She guided me to the couch, and I clasped my face with my hand. I couldn't look up. My body was shaking with anger. I needed a release.
" She's engaged to another man," I sighed, unable to believe this.
" I can't lose her again, I can't," my voice was breaking. My grandmother looked at me with a frown. She stood up and walked out of the house. She was angry. I didn't bother to ask where she was going. My sister hugged me gently.
" Dad?" I heard the voice of my daughter. She looked worried. " Dad, are you feeling unwell?"
I didn't know what to say to my daughter. I smiled at her and hugged her. I kissed her before leaving the penthouse. I needed to shift into my lycan, and when I was calm, I would visit Love. I couldn't see her when I was like this.
I reached my pack and shifted to Lias. He was hurt. The thought of losing Love for the second time sent him to the edge. I couldn't let another man take her away from me.
I was running through the forest, growling and angry, when I noticed a small crowd of patrol guards. I rushed over there. As soon as they saw me, they bowed in respect, and one of them went to get me shorts. I shifted and swiftly put them on.
" What's going on?" I asked before I smelled it... Blood. So much. My heart squeezed as I saw a woman lying on the ground with an open neck ... There was another, but this one was drained of blood.

I tried calling Ellis again after he hung up abruptly, but It wasn't connected. I was pacing back and forth. I went online and saw the articles about me and David's engagement. That mother fucker leaked it to the press. I shouldn't have trusted him. I hurriedly grabbed my phone to call David, but he ignored my calls.
I went upstairs, took a shower, and changed my clothes. I need to go and see Ellis right now. I had to clear all this up with him. Why can't we fucking catch a break? I just hoped things would go smoothly for once. David knew what he was doing by informing the press. He wanted to bring confusion between Ellis and me, but I wouldn't let it happen.
" Love!" Luis called urgently. He must have read that we were getting engaged.
" I'm in the foyer!" I was searching for my car keys. Luis hurriedly entered the room,
" Are you engaged to David? The rumor mill is going crazy about this. I thought you ended things with him," he said.
" No, I'm not engaged. The jackass proposed to me in front of his family. I couldn't blatantly reject him because of his sick mom, so I didn't reject his proposal immediately," I explained to him. He was giving me those judgy eyes.
" And that ring on your finger?" My eyes lowered to my finger. Why hadn't I taken it off?! I took off the ring.
" I don't even know why I didn't take it off!" I flared.
" Damn! Have you seen my car keys? I need to speak to Ellis now,"
" I'll drive you. You're in no condition to. I'll change quickly," he said and rushed upstairs. I was taking a deep breath. In and out when the door opened. CC walked in, fuming. Her cold eyes were on me. She wanted to confront me. I bet she thought I was only getting back with her grandson to hurt him as retribution. CC was ruthless when it came to her family.
I couldn't utter a word when I felt a sharp sting on my face. CC slapped me... Hard.
