The door to Leila's office opened exactly when it was time for lunch break. Everyone stopped what they were doing at the abrupt appearance of their boss's assistant. Leila hid a smile. She was the only one who knew why the woman was here.
Amara's eyes roamed her office until it settled on her. A ghost of a smile fleeted across her face and she stalked towards Leila's desk. Leila pretended to be working on the slides on her screen. Silly Kelvin. He would have to learn the hard way that bossing her around was no good.
Amara knocked on her desk twice and Leila finally looked up like she was seeing her for the first time.
"Miss Leilani, your attention is needed."
Her colleagues were aware who Amara was, so no one questioned her order. Leila packed her things and followed behind Amara. They didn't stop walking until they were at the elevator.
Once they were alone, she asked, "Where is he?"
"Downstairs." Amara shoved her hands into the pockets of her long coat. The woman wasn't being her usual friendly self and Leila wondered only briefly if she did the right thing. She banished the thought as fast as it came. The only thing wrong she did was refusing to let her husband know she wanted a kiss earlier. She was going to fix that now. "In the car. Waiting for you."
A victorious smile touched Leila lips, she pushed the straps of her handbag up her shoulder. They were quiet throughout the elevator ride and her thoughts swarmed her head. What if he had a good reason for wanting to skip lunch with her? He was usually the one to call her. A while later, Leila asked, "Does he have a meeting?"
"Not anymore."
The guilt was fleeting. It was her right as a wife to have lunch with her husband. The elevator stopped. Leila got out but Amara stayed inside. She frowned.
"My orders were to get you out of the office, not join you." A mischievous thought hit Leila and her lips quirked. "Please don't pull any stunts." Because the woman helped her once, she agreed. "Enjoy your lunch, Mrs McKenna."
Oh, she would. She would also enjoy getting that kiss.
The glasses of the Mercedes were tinted but she sashayed to the car, swinging her hips with extra flourish in case her husband was watching. The door of the car opened before she touched the knob, Leila got inside with a blank face. Kelvin didn't smile or acknowledge her. She shrugged off his attitude and plugged in her earpods.
"Pacific," Kelvin told the driver and the mesh rolled up to separate them. He patted his legs for her to sit but Leila continued nodding along to the inaudible song playing. She heard when Kelvin said, "Leila. Leila."
But she didn't stop pretending to listen to her music. He inched closer to her. She dragged in a ragged breath but composed herself immediately. Two could play this game or whatever it was they were doing. His arm slipped around her waist, her heart beat harder in her chest. Kelvin pulled her flush against him. Side to side that she couldn't move an inch now that she was caged between him and the door.
He retracted one earpod from her ear and plugged it into his. She grinned. There was no song playing.
"Really?"
Leila shrugged. This thing he was doing, she could do it too. At her indifference, Kelvin smirked. In that moment, she knew she had set herself up. He unhanded her without a word, she moaned the loss of contact but remained in that spot when he moved away.
Looking straight ahead, his hand descended on her knee. She hissed out a silent breath when he pushed her legs apart. A finger trailed up to her inner thigh and her vagina clenched. She could feel that familiar wetness forming between her legs. She wanted to close her legs but one look from him and she paused.
That look in his eyes told her whatever he planned for her was naughty and it might be beyond her comfort zone but she found herself looking forward to it.
Kelvin peppered wet kisses behind her ear while his fingers continued exploring her skin. Her breathing faltered when his fingers skimmed her panties, she squeezed her eyes shut when he cocked his head.
That triumphant glint in his eyes irked her but her body responded in delicious ways to his touch. Her nipples were rock solid, she wished they weren't in a car but somewhere more private like their bedroom.
"Are you still on your period?"
Leila shook her head fast. Her husband's lust-filled gaze met hers, she spread her legs for him to do more of what he had been doing with his fingers. He pulled out his fingers and pushed them into her mouth, she hesitated for a moment, then licked them clean. Her gaze fleeted to his face to know if he liked what she did and he pecked her on the lips. It wasn't a real kiss but it was enough for now.
The air sizzled with the desire curling around their spines. She was ready to surrender herself to him and she made that known to him with a small sound. His fingers slid into her warmth and she gasped. It felt too good, like his fingers were made for her vagina.
He moved them slowly inside her and moisture rolled down her thighs. Her skirt was bunched at her thighs now, Leila wouldn't have cared if anyone was watching but the glasses were tinted. Kelvin placed her leg on his, she bit her lips when he curled a finger inside her core, moving them with a delicate expertise.
"Do you want this?" he whispered. One hand dug into her hair, he tugged her head back and placed wet kisses on her neck. His lips moved to her lips but he ducked before she could claim his lips. "Tell me, Leila."
Why did she have to speak when his fingers were already doing all the work? Kelvin slowed his moves and her hips jerked forward so his whole arm would slip into her skirt but her husband pulled back.
"Kev," she cried out as he wiped his hand on the tissue he retrieved from his breast pocket.
He couldn't stop now. She wanted to feel those tingles again. That warm sensation in the pit of her belly.
"Kev, what?" His brow shot up and his sharp tone made her close her legs. Her eyes watered. "Tell your husband what you want, Leila. You are wet for me. Use your words."
"Stop raising your voice at me," she whispered.
"What is wrong with you, Leila?" he hissed out.
Her confidence crumbled. There was nothing wrong with her. Why was he being so mean to her? She was not wrong to want him. What was with him and asking her to talk? What exactly should she say? Didn't he notice her reaction?
Rubbing the back of his palms against his eyes, he sighed again. "You were going to miss lunch because I didn't kiss you and now you can't even tell me what you want?" That lump sat in her throat again. She made that threat because it was the only way she knew how to get his attention. "You made me cancel my meeting for you, Leila."
The tear finally dropped to her cheek. "I'm sorry."
Kelvin shook his head. She wiped her eyes and brought her handbag to her legs. This was stupid. He was upset. She should have stayed back in her office to have her lunch.
"What do you want, Leila?"
With that tone, there was nothing she wanted from him. In a clear voice, she said, "Nothing."
"Nothing?" Kelvin asked. His eyes flickered to her legs which were pressed together. Just a glance and she was wet all over again. "You don't want anything?"
"I don't want anything."
If he was angry before, now he was pissed. The next order was directed to the driver. "Stop the car."
"Sir?"
"Stop the car. Now." Leila's hand flew over her mouth to stop herself from screaming obscenities at him. He couldn't mean that. They were almost there. "Take us back to the office."
The car slowed and the driver made a turn. Leila couldn't believe it. She didn't want to believe it. She spared her angry husband a glance but he was back to typing furiously on his phone. Her heart ached. She should say something to fix this but she didn't know what or how to say it.
"Kev." He didn't turn. She tapped his shoulder but the only indication he heard her was the brief hesitation before he resumed typing. This afternoon was turning out to be worse than the morning. "Kev. Kelvin. We don't have to go back."
After a third failed attempt at getting her husband's attention, she curled against the window, watching the clouds drift. Her heart skipped when her phone pinged. It was a text from her superior.
Sarah: Meet me in my office after lunch.
