They made love again. Leila was insatiable. It felt like something had been unlocked inside of her. Now that she had been introduced to sex, she couldn't get enough of it. It was hours later before they went to bed.
When she woke up, the curtains were drawn and the sun was shining down in harsh rays against the window. Kelvin was not in bed with her, she raised a hand over her face and squinted at her ringing phone. Prying the phone from under the pillow, a frown deepened the lines on her forehead when she saw the name. Lily.
"Hey, Lily," Leila murmured into the phone. They talked for a while until Lily stated her reason for calling. She wanted to wish her a quick recovery. Leila pulled the phone from her ear to confirm the caller. She was well and perfectly healthy. "Sick? Who told you I was sick?"
"Sarah." Leila swallowed hard. Flopping back on the bed, she held a pillow to her chest. "She said you would be absent for a week." If the message came from Sarah, then Kelvin might have a hand in it. She was still pissed at him for firing her out of spite but the lovemaking had greatly reduced the anger. "The whole office got an email. Take care of yourself, okay? Talk to you later."
The call ended before a reply left Leila's lips. She forgot the questions plaguing her mind when the door creaked open. Her husband walked in with a tray. Leila tried to cover herself up to hide her breasts spilling out but Kelvin shook his head. She knotted her robe and stretched out her arms for a hug. Lowering the tray gently on the bedside drawer, Kelvin kissed her.
"You slept well?" he asked, tucking her hair behind her ear. Leila nodded. The sleep might have been short but it was one of the best. She yawned. After long hours of lovemaking, she needed more sleep. Kelvin kissed her again. "Breakfast is ready, my lady."
"Thank you, baby."
Kelvin blushed to the roots and she pinched his cheeks. He got into the bed and crossed his legs. Leila was grateful for the generous breakfast but she was most grateful for the peanut butter. She spread it on her toast, giggling when Kelvin snatched the butter knife to help with the toast.
"Aren't you eating?" she asked after her first bite.
"Already did."
Thinking about it, he looked like he had taken his bath. Just when did he wake? She fed him her bare toast and he wiped the corner of her lips when the peanut butter got stuck there. They continued till she was done, she finished the last of the orange juice and belched.
"Sorry," she muttered but Kelvin waved it off. He dropped the tray on the floor and hoisted her up so she could straddle him. Her arms went around his neck, the bulge under her made her move her hips slowly. "You're always hard," she teased. "I like it."
Kelvin's smile fell off. "Can I ask you something? About kids?" Her smile disappeared. They had never had a full discussion about kids. "Would you like us to have kids?"
"In the future," she replied.
"How many months from now?"
"Years," Leila corrected. They couldn't bring kids into their world without fully knowing each other. And the event of last night showed they had a long way to go in earning each other's trust. "I think we need more time. A year."
Kelvin blanched. "So you can get a divorce or an annulment?"
"No." Smoothening his shirt, she tried to come up with an answer that would make sense to both of them. "One year is enough time to know if we can handle each other. If we can handle each other, then we can handle kids. Kids are a whole bunch of work."
"After one year, we can start trying?" Leila nodded. "Are you on the pill?" Her head moved left, then right. She hadn't needed it because they were not sexually active. "You might want to get it, just in case... you know? Or I could use protection if you would prefer that."
The only protection for men she was aware of were condoms. And Freya had once joked that having sex with condoms was equivalent to eating bananas without peeling them. The analogy couldn't be that bad but Leila didn't want to find out for herself.
The words of her best friend left a bitter taste in her mouth. She wasn't upset at Freya anymore. Safe to say, Kelvin had fucked the anger out of her system. She would call Freya later but after making her suffer in silence for another day.
"It's fine, I'll get on the pills." Kelvin beamed and she chewed on her lower lip. "But is it safe? Those pills."
"One hundred percent but I'll confirm with the doctor." She winced when Kelvin tried to shift her into another position. This position was perfect. Besides, she was still sore. After the initial pain passed, the only thing she felt was pleasure and she wanted to experience it again. She freed Kelvin's penis from his shorts, flicked a finger over the tip. "Leila, what are you doing?"
The only answer she gave him was a breathless moan as she stroked his dick. It was a miracle this huge thing entered her but she wanted it inside her again. She slipped off her robe, exposing her nakedness to him.
Kissing him on his nose, she slid on his cock and grunted at the feelings that engulfed her. Kelvin's hand lowered to her waist, he spread her ass and she moaned deliciously as she began to move slowly on his manhood.
Fingering was good but it could never be compared to fucking. The sweet love he made, then the more intense fucking when he knew she could handle it. Leila wanted that all over again.
Sweat coated both of their forehead, she bounced on his dick as fast as she could, hitting her climax faster than she expected. They came together, panting and smiling at each other with their foreheads touching.
"I have another question, Leila."
Leila stiffened almost immediately. She didn't want anything to ruin this moment. Hesitantly, she said, "Go ahead."
Her husband's face took on a calmer look, she remained astride him with his dick still inside her. She could get used to this feeling of fullness.
"What happened after you left the hall?"
Worry crept into his voice. It made her want to remember. If not for her sake, for Kelvin's sake. Her eyes opened to worry laced grey orbs and her heart melted. If love did exist like she used to think in the past, she would have believed love was what she saw in Kelvin's eyes.
"We talked." Kelvin nodded for her to continue. "He was saying his usual bullshit. Then, he left and I stayed back to clear my head. I was torn between going to Freya's house or coming back to talk to you." The smug smile on her husband's face made her add, "I was still upset with you. It doesn't matter now since none of that happened. I don't know, baby. I can't..."
Leila trailed off as the memories from that night flooded her mind. Everything up till the moment she finished talking to Charles returned. It was as if there was a mental block after talking to Charles. Between that time and waking up, she remembered nothing. It was scary. Kelvin's hug reminded her she wasn't alone, she placed a kiss on his collarbone to silently thank him.
"If I had taken too much alcohol, I might have attributed it to getting drunk but I wasn't. Maybe a bit tipsy but I was fine." Kelvin's brows furrowed. He was deep in thought and she wanted to be in his head at that moment. "Baby, what are you thinking? Kev?"
"Do you think he drugged you?"
"I don't think so. He didn't have access to my drinks. I don't know if he drugged me but he didn't touch me."
A wedge appeared between Kelvin's brows, and she broke down everything that happened when she woke. From the note to the clinic and the result. Charles didn't touch her. She hated him but his note was right.
Kelvin was still staring at her when she was done talking, Leila didn't know why she said, "Charles would never do such a thing like drugging me. He's horrible but not that horrible." Her head tilted so she could claim Kelvin's lips but he didn't return her kiss. "What is it? You don't believe me?"
"It's not that." A solid determination slipped into his eyes. "Whatever happened that night had a lot to do with Charles. This time, he had an accomplice." Kelvin finger-combed his hair. "I'm worried for you, Leila."
For the first time, she agreed with him. She was worried too for herself. Charles's obsession with her was unhealthy. She couldn't say what he could do in his quest to get her back. She nestled her head in the crook of Kelvin's neck and he traced circles on her lower back. Letting the silence comfort her, she closed her eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep.
