Mason’s P.O.V.I hate her.
That is exactly what I’m feeling right now looking at my sister, I mean how dare she spill everything in front of our Mom when she knows Mom will freak out and kill me for being a jerk; though I agree I deserve it but still I realized what my mistake was and accepted it, Bella even forgave me but no Rachel had to speak and ruin stuff. I’m still being held by my ear, by none other than my mom when I say, “Mom it was just a misunderstanding”; trying to convince mom as well as calm her down for the same.
Mom loosens her grip on my ear, but doesn’t leave it from her grasp when she asks, “You expect me to believe you, when you are the one who screwed it up in the first place?”
I just look at Rachel, throwing daggers at her as I mumble, “You are so going to pay for this”, the moment these words leave my mouth, my mom’s hold on my ear tightens and I realize that what foolish mistake I did.
Of course, my mom heard that; she is a werewolf too.
Before I can take my words back or come up with an excuse Mom shouts, “Don’t you dare mister. No son of mine is going to make his sister pay for speaking the truth; especially the one which you couldn’t speak of.”
My composure droops a little as I sulk hearing her say that, I can guess that Mom is angry at me and No matter how old I grow, I know for sure that I’ll always be my Mama’s boy; that’s why seeing the disappointment in her eyes, kind of hurts me. Rachel looks at me and asks again, “Will you tell us, what did she say bro?”
I don’t say anything in fact I just bathe in the silence surrounding me, before walking a little distance towards the staircase to just go to my room and sleep. Though I slept in the afternoon, I think hearing and seeing Bella interrogate in that video, kind of tired me and all I want to do is just go to sleep. As I reach near the stairs, I hear Rachel speak again, “Screw it, I’ll call her myself and ask if she is okay.”
My ears come to life on hearing her words as I turn around to tell her to not to do that, when Mom says, “Good idea. I would like to talk to her and apologize for the idiot’s mistake.” Her words are like a bucket of cold water being thrown on me, jolting me back to life as I run to stand beside her and request, “I don’t think you guys should do that.”
“And why should we believe you?” asks Rachel, firing up my annoyance and anger towards her a little notch higher.
“That’s enough Rach. You don’t know anything, don’t make up shit by yourself” I bark at her, don’t get me wrong, I love my sister a lot but it’s my mate she is talking about and I hate it when people blame others just based on their assumptions. Listening to my words, she flinches and Mom notices the coldness in my tone to which she shouts, “Enough both of you. I don’t care what anyone of you say; I want to talk to her myself and then I’ll be the judge of it.” Hearing her say that, we both look at her and nod as she continues, “Now which one of you will care to call her?”
I take my phone out and tell her, “I’ll call her; at least she won’t be that awkward if I tell her that my mom wants to talk to her.”
I hope so.
I click on her caller ID and wait for her to pick her up; her caller tune blasts through my phone’s speaker “See the line where the sky meets the sea, it calls me. No one knows how far I’ll go” doesn’t fail to amaze me, even when I think I’ve heard it about more than 20 times today. My woman is obsessed with ocean, it’s not a shocker; her career option, the sticker in her locker and her phone’s lock screen as well as her phone cover was ocean related.
Mom nudges me with her shoulder which makes me turn towards her, she whispers, “Put it on speaker Mason.” I look at her, shocked at her request my eyes are about to pop out hearing her request or more like her order. “MOM!” is whine back at her, she glares at me and grumbles back, “Quit your whining boy, just do as I say and you’ll survive.”
After a few rings she does pick it up, the first thing that she says is not Hello but “Is everything okay Macey?”
I hear a gasp from somewhere beside me and I don’t have to turn to know that’s it from Rachel’s mouth.
Take that bitch.
“Everything’s okay babe, it’s just that...” I pause a little while speaking, thinking about how to tell her that my mom is on mission. I’m still contemplating with my thoughts when I hear her ask, “It’s just what babe?”
“Uhh...”
“You’re scaring me Macey-Boo?” she says again, I’m engrossed in my own thoughts when something catches my attention.
Did she call me, what I think she did?
“Did you call me Macey-Boo, princess?” I ask her, a small smile lacing at my lips, finding it really cute.
“Yesss… but that’s not what’s important right now. Will you tell me what is bothering you?” she asks again, I can sense the tension rolling of her tongue in each of these words.
I ignore her question and speak my thought out, “That was so cute princess.”
“MASON! You’re side tracking again. Speak up before I make it over there and kick some sense in you” she shouts out loud, almost making me deaf even though the phone is on speaker; she takes a breathe and continues, “Sooooooooo are you going to tell me what is bothering you?”
“It’s my mom…” before I can complete my sentence she starts blabbering, “Is she alright? Do you want me come over? Is she sick? Please tell me it’s nothing bad.”
I hear my Mom snicker beside me, I glare at her and she snatches my phone and speaks directly to her, “I’m totally fine honey. It’s not me about whom he wants to talk about; it’s him about whom I want to talk to you about.”
Silence.
For a second I thought she might have panicked and disconnected the call, but just as I was about to lose hope she said, “Hello Mrs. King, what do you want to talk about?”
My poor baby girl, I can sense the stiffness that might have spread over her body in the stressed tone of her voice. Listening to her calm yet stressed voice made me pray to the Moon Goddess, in order to request her to keep mom in her hold so that she might not end up embarrassing my mate.
Isabella’s P.O.V.I was flabbergasted on hearing his Mom’s voice from the other side of the phone; one second it was Mason’s stuttering and the exact next minute I hear his mom’s demanding voice.
Did I do something wrong?
Oh my god, did Mason complain about my stupid behavior to his mom? What is he, five? Why does she sound so mad? What is she mad about? Who is she mad at? Is it really me, who is in trouble?
God Mason, why would you do that?
After a second I respond with, “Hello Mrs. King, what do you want to talk about?” I can hear someone giggle behind her.
Was that Mason?
No. Mason is too masculine to giggle like a school girl. Then who might that be? I’m thinking about it, when I hear a distant grumble from someone whose voice I’ve grown to familiar with; Mason. He says, “Shut up Rach.” It’s then when I realize it was Rachel who was giggling about something; I’ll ask her what it was that she was giggling about when I meet her.
I am brought back from the self debate that I’m having, when I hear Mrs. King say, “Oh. Call me Emma, darling.”
“Okay Emma” I say to her request as she speaks up again, “So I heard Mason was a jerk to you today. Is that true honey?”
Holy shit.
She is not mad at me, but at Mason. Who might have told her that?
RACHEL!
I clear my throat as I say, “No Emma. It was just a misunderstanding.”
“But Rachel told me...” she speaks again but before she can complete her statement I say, “She might have misjudged, it’s not her fault either.”
“No mom. Your son did it, she is covering up for him” I hear Rachel whine from somewhere far away.
Emma clears her throat before asking again, “Are you sure, he wasn’t being a jerk sweetie? You know you don’t have to cover up his mistakes and neither are you supposed to be scared of him, so please don’t think about what he will do if you complaint back to me. I’m his mother and Alpha or not, I’ll whoop his ass if he misbehaved or ill-treated you.”
She thinks I’m scared of him?
“She is far away from being scared of me, mom. It’s more like I’m scared of her” I hear Mason say with a hint of amusement latched to his speech.
“Good. it’s supposed to be like that. There is a reason why your dad is scared of me as well” she counter says to his last comment.
I snicker at her statement and she brings her attention back to me as she says, “I just wanted to tell you, you can tell me about anything sweetie. Whenever you find yourself in trouble, call me. And I promise I’ll take care of it” she pauses a little before she continues, “I’ll let you two love birds speak. Take care honey. Good night.”
Before she can get rid of the phone I speak out, “Thanks for saying it Emma. It means a lot to me.”
“Oh it’s nothing sweetie, after all what kind of a mother-in-law that makes me; if I couldn’t be there for my daughter-in-law when she needs me” she says, as if calling me daughter-in-law is not that big of a deal.
Well, now I know from whom Rachel got the idea of calling me sister-in-law.
“Thank you once again, take care and have a very good night Emma” I tell her, she hmms to my words and pass it to Mason. I hear a click sound and move my phone to check if he disconnected the call, but see that the call is still going on; I move it back to my ear and ask, “Mason?”
“Yes baby girl?” he asks.
“Are you okay?”
“Yup” he says, popping the p a little too much as I ask again, “Is she mad at you?”
“She was, but after talking to you, I think she is content that everything is fine between us and now she is already out of sight as I’m making my way towards my room” he finishes his rant and at the same time I hear a thud sound from behind him, as he releases a long breath.
“What was that sound? Are you okay?” I ask again.
I hear him snicker as he says, “Yeas, I’m fine babe; that was the sound of me plopping down on my bed” pausing for a second he adds, “I mean our bed”
Oh my poor ovaries, did he just say, our bed?
I gulp down and it does not go unheard by him as he says, “Dreaming about me already babe?”
“Wh… What?” I stutter.
What the hell Bella? Get a grip.
“Um hmm. Well, I’m…” he says.
“You are what?” I ask him, confusion laced in my words, not understanding what he meant.
He clears his throat as he says, “Dreaming about you” my body stiffens hearing it as he continues, “on my bed” I gulp again, “in between the sheets” my eyes close on their own as I feel a thousand butterflies flutter their wings inside my stomach, but what he says next makes my panties go wet; it feels like the whole goddamn zoo in my stomach as my mouth gape open at the image that he pinned to my brain as he says, “NAKED”.
