Mason’s P.O.V.She sleeps like a baby.
I don’t know for how long she hasn’t had a proper sleep, but the moment she closed her eyes and cuddled closer to me, she was off to her dreamland. She was looking so pure, so precious like a baby who was not aware of the cruel world outside the comforts of its mother’s arms. I couldn’t bring myself to accept the fact that she could be as heartless and as brutal as she claimed to be. After hearing everything that she said, I knew for sure that I wanted to keep her safe; from the world and most importantly from herself. There was a voice nagging me, informing me or making me aware about the fact that nothing was as dangerous for her as herself, no one had the ability to harm her or break her apart except for her own thoughts and I had to make her see herself through my eyes, no matter what; I have to make sure that she loves and accepts herself just as she is, if I have to keep her alive.
It wasn’t even a good ten minutes, when I heard a small knock on the door; I felt her move at the voice but as if on instinct I lulled her back to sleep and mouthed a small come in. I know it was enough because we all are werewolves, born with amazing hearing skills; which worked as a great plus point in this moment. Rose peeked inside the room and a smile was slowly growing on her face; anyone who has seen both of these girls together could say that they loved each other more than they loved themselves and I was really happy that Bella had someone like Rose as her best friend. She walked up to the edge of the bed and mumbled, “It’s already 3.30 pm, so I came here to ask her if she wanted to go home”
I nodded and asked whispering, “You want me to wake her up? She just slept like ten minutes ago and by the look of it, I think it is much needed.” She immediately shook her head; a little too vigorously, I wonder how she isn’t dizzy after this, as she added “Nooooo… She needs it. Let her sleep as long as she can, we’ll go home and she can come once she is awake.” I give her a small nod to agree with her words, when she asks, “Unless and until you want to go somewhere?” I shake my head to deny about having any plans, when I remember that I had dinner plans with Matt, so I say, “I do have dinner plans with Matt at 8 pm, but other than that I don’t have any other plans and from how much I have figured her out, I highly doubt she will be sleeping till 8.”
She stifles her laugh as she says, “Yeah... You’re right. She won’t be sleeping till that late. But whenever she wakes up, she will turn frantic looking at the time and worrying about her siblings. So just tell her that I and Ryan are there to take care of everything.”
“Okay” I say, she nods and turns to leave when I call her out and continue, “And Rose, Thank you for being there for her. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. Thank you for everything.” She gives me a small smile as she says, “Ohhh come on boy and it’s nothing. You should just thank the Moon Goddess that I’m straight enough and have been mated to Matt or else mate or not, I wouldn’t have allowed you to even stand in a 10 meter radius of my girlfriend.” I can’t help but laugh at her words; I notice her smile drop and her face turn serious as she adds, “Just don’t hurt her. She has been through a lot and right now she needs all the love she could get in this world. All I ask from you is, to be there for her when she needs and I’m asking you to do this, not because you are supposed to or you can, but because you want too, I can see it in your eyes whenever you look at her. Just be what she needs you to be, a lover, a friend, a mate, a protector, a supporter, whatever it is. The question here arises is whether will you?”
“Yes I will” is my answer, after which she smiles and leaves, closing the door behind her. I turn my attention back towards the angel who is wrapped up in my arms; I didn’t notice this earlier but she looks tired, the dark circles and puffiness under eyes are making her look older, the creases on her forehead makes me feel like even when she is sleeping, she really isn’t resting as there are a thousand thoughts going in that pretty little brain of hers, her nose is red and I know it’s because of all the crying episode she had before my arrival. I’m busy looking at her, when she throws her leg over my waist, tightening her hold on my sweatshirt, nuzzling her face in my neck. She is too cute to be such a badass, but her sleeping posture is going to be a problem for me in the future; she is a warrior head, that to a strong one and her leg on my waist is restricting my movement, I know for a fact that when she wakes up, I’m going to be the one complaining about some back pain, with that thought in my mind and my girl in my arms, I slowly drift off to sleep.
I woke up with a jerk, it felt as if something was snatched from my arms and I soon realized that it wasn’t something, it was someone; when my eyes landed on the person beside me. She was looking at me with a confused expression, but a hint of amusement and adoration clearly visible in her eyes. I smiled at her and said, “Hey princess. How are you feeling now?” She smiled, no; she beamed at me as she replied, “I can’t remember the last time I slept that well.”
I am going to take that as a compliment.
I sat up from my sleeping position, all the while looking at her; she had her bed hair which was messed up, some strands falling on her face. I took a strand and clasped it behind her ear, the blush was slowly rising on her cheeks; I knew that my actions affected her to no extent and she wasn’t good at hiding the after myths yet. Before I could initiate anything else, she spoke, “What time is it? How long have I been sleeping?”
I just responded with a, “I don’t know maybe for an hour or so. We slept somewhere around 3.15, I think.”
“What?” she shouted and as Rose said, she was frantic; moving around the bed, running towards her desk like a headless chicken, she took her phone in her hand and turned it on. Whatever she saw left her speechless was a few seconds, I thought maybe her siblings were calling her or maybe Rose called her and she was horrified at the number of calls she missed; but when she opened her mouth I realized it was neither of these reasons, “It’s 7.20 in the evening?” It was more of a question, instead of a statement.
I didn’t say anything because I knew the rant was about to come, having a sister gave me a pretty good idea about what was going to come next; and I was patiently waiting for the same. She started it with, “Oh my god. I’m such a horrible sister. How can I sleep when I know I have to be home for them, what will they be thinking about me? They are going to be worried sick, thinking what happened to me? I need to go home. Nooooo wait, I need to call them first, Yes I’ll call Mia and tell her that I’m alive and on my way home. Shit I’m…”
I interjected her self rant by saying, “Whoa, easy there tiger. Rose and Ryan are at your house right now taking care of everything. They left you here so you could sleep for a few hours, so take a deep breath and stop panicking.” After listening to me, it took her a minute to understand everything I just said and calm herself down, she shoulders relaxed after a few minutes which showed that she was now back to her old self. I walked towards her and engulfed her in my arms, pecking her forehead, I ask, “How about I drop you home and then you could see them yourself, will that give you some peace?”
She nodded to reply to my question as I heard sniffing; I pulled back and tilted her face up to confirm my doubt, perhaps she was crying. It pained me to see her in such a mess, its something I realized today that I don’t like seeing her sad or crying, it broke my heart. Wiping her tears I asked, “What is bothering you love? Tell me and we will try to find a solution together; I don’t know if you have noticed it but we are pretty good tem to say the least.” She giggled on hearing my words, smacking my chest in a playful manner, she said, “You’re delusional Macey.” Hearing her giggles made me smile as well, when I asked again, “And why would you think that?” “Because you think I’m going to be good as a partner, why would you think that?” she asked.
“Because I believe in you” is all I said, her eyes gleamed with some emotion, I wonder if it was pride and admiration, smiling at her I asked, “Now will you tell me what is bothering you?”
“I don’t want to let down their expectation” was her simple answer, I didn’t have to ask her whom she was talking about, I knew by them she meant her siblings and I felt proud of her, she was breaking every minute but she still wanted to stand strong and tall for them, that’s the mark of a true warrior. My girl is strong, loving, caring, powerful, adamant and righteous; the qualities of a real Luna. My pack was going to get one hell of a Luna and I have a feeling that they are going to love her just a much as I do.
I do? Seriously? Do I love her?
I don’t know if what I feel for her is love or something else, but whatever it is; it was one hell of a strong feeling which didn’t plan to go away anytime soon. I wrapped my arms around her again and said, “They know who you are, we all do. If once in a while, you put yourself above them; they aren’t going to think any less of you. In fact, I think everyone wants you to put yourself above them, even your siblings might be thinking the same. Stop pushing yourself over the edge love. Just breathe and live your life, everything else will fall into space accordingly.”
She hummed and asked, “Can we leave now? It’s almost 7.30 now.” I smiled at her cute request and replied with a “Okay” making our way downstairs towards the main door. The house was clean as if none of us ever visited; Bella locked the door and made her way towards her car. They had left her car hear, which meant I couldn’t drop her home. The ride back to her pack house was a good 30 minutes; she turned towards me to ask, “You want me to drop you home?”
Home, it sounded good from her lips. It will soon be OUR HOME.
I pointed towards my car, which was parked at a distance and said, “I have my car and I’m not going home. I have dinner plans and I have to be there by 8, so I think I’m going to go directly over there.”
“Ohhh” she said. I could see the wheels running in her brain, her saddened eyes gave it out; that she thought I had a date. She was glowering with jealousy which could be made out by the clenching of her fists, the gritting of her teeth; she looked cute. To ease her pain, I cleared it out, “I’m not going on a date babe. It work related, so you can stop punishing your fists and teeth for the same” with a smirk.
She was flabbergasted at my observation as she said, “I wasn’t jealous.” I smiled at her lame attempt to hide her jealousy and said, “I never said, you’re jealous, are you though?”
“Nooooo” she said, flustered at her own failed endeavor and continued, “We should get going. I’ll see you at college. Bye” as she hurriedly made her way to her car and entered it without sparing a glance my way. I chuckled at her behavior as I said, “Drive slow. I’m going to follow you to make sure you reach your pack safely and then I’ll make my way towards my destination” as I made my way towards my car.
This was going to be a very long and painful drive.
