Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 152

Ch. 152 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Billie had been kicked out of the Lowe Group today. Sandy had lost another helper.

This was all because of Marilyn. Sandy hated Marilyn's guts.

Marilyn did not drink mango juice. Sandy now suspected that Marilyn was from the Chambers family. She had a big surprise for Marilyn.

Debbie did not agree with Malcolm's words. In her heart, Malcolm was the best candidate for a son-in-law.

She always thought that Marilyn had ruined her daughter's happiness.

Velma said that Marilyn was pestering Malcolm.

"Malcolm, you're a steady man. Don't be fooled by Marilyn." Debbie glanced at Marilyn with disgust.

Then she sneered, "Marilyn, Malcolm is too good for you. He won't marry someone like you."

Arturo could no longer stand it. He spoke before his mother could. He looked up at Debbie with a smile, and his voice was soft and moving. "Madam, I know that you live a rich life. But what you lack is morality."

When Debbie saw Arturo's handsome little face and his bright smile, she felt a sense of guilt.

What had she just said in front of a child?

She had been too impulsive just now.

Marilyn looked at Arturo with admiration. Arturo had grown up, and he knew how to protect his mother.

"Great, Arturo. When you grow up, remember to respect people instead of hurting them." Jeannie smiled and walked to Marilyn's side.

She gently stroked Arturo's head.

"Mommy has always taught me to respect the old and cherish the young." Arturo smiled back at Jeannie, but there was some kind of bitterness behind it.

Debbie's face turned red.

Velma sneered, "How can you say that, Arturo? Marilyn, you really know how to educate children. He does not respect the old. You guys are just being jealous."

Velma knew this kind of people. They were poor, so they were jealous of rich people. They would do anything to become rich.

She had seen many of these dirty things.

"Miss Remington, don't blame me for what you didn't get." Marilyn sneered.

"Well, suit yourself, I've got work to do." Marilyn held Arturo and left.

Velma felt humiliated.

Marilyn walked fast. Ever since she woke up seven years ago, she had warned herself that she would never surrender. If she fell, no one would help her. She had to help herself.

Malcolm followed Marilyn without saying anything.

Jeannie walked to Debbie's side. She was much taller than Debbie. She looked at Debbie and smiled coldly, "Mrs. Remington, I know you're rich, but don't you dare to bully a single mother. Marilyn is kinder than any of you.

"Do not judge a hard-working woman with bias.

"Your straightforward words may hurt others. Debbie, please save your words."

Jeannie said rudely. Then she left and went after Marilyn.

Debbie stood there in a daze. She had never received such great humiliation before.

Julian looked at Debbie with disappointment.

Then he looked at Sandy and Velma coldly. "Interns, do you want to be late?"

With that, he quickly left to chase after Jeannie.

He looked at Jeannie's back. Thinking of what she had just said, he slightly smiled.

Was Jeannie a good woman?

Julian was praying from the bottom of his heart. He wished that Jeannie could love him back.

Sandy smiled. "Mr. Munoz, we'll go back to work now." She held Velma's hand.

"Mom..." Velma looked at Debbie worriedly.

"Go to work. I'll go back and rest." Debbie looked down and left.

She didn't even look at Velma.

Debbie's staggering steps made Velma feel very upset.

Velma knew Debbie very well. Velma could not control Debbie. And she could not control anyone in the Remington family.

Only Debbie would listen to her.

But Velma was not so important to Debbie.

In Debbie's heart, Carolyn was the most special one. Velma could never win Carolyn.

"Velma, hurry up. We will be scolded again if we are late." Sandy left.

She was ready to watch a good show.

Velma turned back with a gloomy look and left with Sandy.

"Lynn, are you alright?" Malcolm asked after following Marilyn for a long time.

Arturo had jumped out of Marilyn's arms and walked on his own.

Marilyn and Arturo chatted as they walked, hand in hand, completely unconcerned about what had just happened.

Hearing Malcolm's words, Marilyn turned around and glanced at Malcolm. She shook her head with a smile, "Mr. Lowe, don't worry. I'm fine."

Marilyn could understand why Debbie had done that to her.

But Marilyn would never forgive Debbie.

Malcolm looked at Marilyn worriedly. He wanted to defend Debbie, but he gave up.

He had lost Marilyn once, so he cherished what he had now.

He was reluctant to let Marilyn suffer anymore.

Malcolm knew it in his heart.

So he didn't explain anything to Marilyn.

Malcolm took a step forward and said guiltily, "Lynn, I'm sorry!"

Marilyn shook her head. "Mr. Lowe, I'm really fine." She was smiling calmly. However, she still felt a little uncomfortable deep down. Perhaps she was thinking too much.

Maybe if she could leave for a while, she would be able to get over it.

People were not always good to others. When someone was indifferent to Marilyn, she could see the truth better.
