Marilyn opened the door. Bradley was standing outside in a suit. With black short hair, he looked handsome and elegant.
Marilyn exclaimed in surprise, "Mr. Greer, why are you here?"
Bradley complained, "Lynn, why didn't you tell me you have moved to a new house? If you want to buy a new house, why don't you ask for my help?"
Marilyn was grateful. "I'm sorry, Mr. Greer. I thought you went back to Goldmere."
"Well..." Bradley said with a self-deprecating smile.
"You've all left Goldmere. What can I do over there? I decide to move to Fielddell with you." He said so loudly that the people inside could hear him.
Inside the room, Elvira smiled with bitterness and guilt.
"Lynn, sorry I didn't bring any gifts. Can I come in?" Bradley looked at Marilyn with a smile.
Marilyn moved aside and smiled mischievously. "Mr. Greer, you are really mean. It will be both my first and last time to move to a new house. How can you come empty-handed? At least bring us some cakes."
Marilyn was such a naughty!
It was a tradition to eat cakes when people moved to a new house.
But Elvira had made cakes for her.
Bradley laughed heartily.
He pointed at Marilyn's nose and said in a doting tone, "You're asking too little. If you want a house, I will be even happier." Bradley said and walked inside.
Marilyn shook her head and laughed. How could she ask Bradley for a house?
"Mr. Greer!" Dominic and Laverne happily greeted Bradley.
"Hey! Dominic, Laverne, I haven't seen you for a few days. You've grown much taller." Bradley looked at them with a smile.
"Mr. Greer!" Roland got up to greet Bradley.
Bradley greeted Roland back.
"Mr. Greer, have a seat!"
The seat was next to Elvira.
Bradley gave Roland a meaningful look.
Then, Marilyn introduced Denise to Bradley. Everyone sat down and ate together.
Elvira remained silent. Bradley glanced at her and smiled, "What? You don't want to see me?"
Elvira glanced at Bradley and smiled back, "Since you've come, I can't chase you away."
"Hey! It doesn't sound like you!" Bradley was still smiling at her, his eyes filled with deep affection.
Elvira glanced at him again and said with anger, "Cut the crap. Let's eat."
There was a boiled fish on the table. It was Bradley's favorite food. The chili was moderate and there was no pepper. He smiled and asked, "Elvira, did you know that I was coming? So you prepared the fish without putting any coriander!"
Elvira knew Bradley didn't eat pepper and coriander.
Elvira frowned, but Bradley found her charming. "Bradley, you're thinking too much. I just don't have any coriander at home!"
Roland laughed. Elvira was a good liar. There was coriander in the fridge.
However, Roland would not expose Elvira.
Elvira and Bradley kept bickering, and everyone was happy about that.
Marilyn looked at Elvira and Bradley. Her eyes were shining like diamonds.
Elvira must have thought it through.
If Elvira could accept Bradley, she would live a happy life.
Marilyn and Roland both knew that Bradley was deeply in love with Elvira, but somehow, they didn't get together.
Some nights, Elvira would sigh sadly and look at the distant sky, full of longing.
Marilyn had never asked about Elvira's parents. She did not know where Elvira was from.
Marilyn only knew the address on Elvira's ID card implying that she was from Goldmere.
Laverne chuckled, "Mr. Greer, are you going to live in Fielddell, too?"
"Yes!" Bradley looked at her in curiosity, "Laverne, can I come here to have meals?"
"Of course! Mr. Greer, if you want to have meals for free, come here every day!" Laverne's soft voice was so sweet that it could erase people's worries.
"Little girl, you think I am here for free food?" Bradley laughed heartily.
Elvira shot him a glare. "Or what? Since you just want free meals, you're only allowed to come here once a year!"
Bradley was stunned, and his smile faded. "You are really cruel. I don't want to be a guest. I want to come here a lot."
Marilyn laughed. "Mr. Greer, so you really want free meals?"
Bradley glanced at her, "Elvira and you are just as mischievous, but I like it." Bradley said in a husky voice. He was almost fifty years old, but he looked young and handsome.
People would find him gentle and elegant, but he could be dominating sometimes.
Marilyn quickly defended herself. "Mr. Greer, I am not mischievous. Laverne and Dominic are."
Laverne and Dominic were speechless.
"Mom? Don't use us as excuses." Laverne pouted.
Marilyn looked at Laverne confidently. "I'm happy with that. What can you do?"
Denise smiled, "Lynn when Laverne grows older and taller, you won't be a match for her. Be careful."
"That's true!" Marilyn agreed and nodded.
Laverne was mischievous. Sometimes Marilyn would be shocked by what Laverne said.
Laverne raised her eyebrows proudly at Marilyn, "Mom, I have a surprise for you!"
Laverne handed over a bank card to Marilyn.
Marilyn looked at it in confusion.
She blinked and glanced at Elvira.
Then she asked, "Laverne, where did you get this bank card?"
Laverne proudly touched her little nose.
"Mom, my two paintings have been bought at the exhibition. I put the money in this card."
