Claimed by the Alpha Prince

Chapter 5

Ch. 5 / 99 Feb 16, 2026

Alpha Kaelan held Mira’s hand tightly, feeling the spark between them, but something deeper flickered in his mind—a realization so sudden that it made him pause.

All this time, he’d assumed it would be Liana, the one others expected, the one who had been prepared and groomed to stand beside him. She had the confidence, the power… everything that looked perfect on the surface. But the bond, the instinctive pull that he’d been taught to follow, wasn’t with Liana. It was with Mira.

Mira was his mate.

The thought settled in him like a stone dropped in a lake, spreading through his body and grounding him. There was no mistake.

With a newfound determination, he gave her hand a reassuring squeeze and met her eyes, his gaze soft yet intense. “Mira,” he said softly, “you’re the one. My true mate.”

Mira’s lips parted in surprise, her cheeks flushed as she searched his face for any hint of doubt—but there was none

Her father’s face twisted in confusion and anger. “This… this is absurd! Mira is weak, quiet. You deserve strength—power!”

But the Alpha only tightened his grip on Mira’s shoulder, his expression unchanging.

“She isn’t weak,” he replied firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. “You’ve all been looking in the wrong place.”

The Alpha, known as Kaelan, watched her with an intensity that made Mira’s skin tingle. He took a step forward, his gaze unwavering. “Mira, you are my mate. You’re the one I’ve been searching for,” he said softly but firmly, his deep voice resonating through the hall.

Mira’s stomach twisted. The words sounded right, but surely he must be mistaken. She barely knew him, and the mere thought of standing beside such a powerful Alpha seemed like a fairytale far beyond her reach. The whole room was waiting for her to respond, and she could feel the weight of a hundred eyes upon her.

“This… this doesn’t make sense,” Mira stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. “Maybe you’re mistaken. It’s… it’s supposed to be Liana.” Her gaze drifted to her father, who was watching her with an expression mixed with shame and anger.

Her father’s face contorted further, his voice seething with disappointment. “No, this cannot be,” he spat, addressing Kaelan with a hint of desperation. “You must be confused, Alpha Kaelan. Mira is… unsuitable. She’s quiet, obedient—hardly the partner fit for an Alpha.” He gestured to Liana, who was still frozen in shock, her face pale. “Liana is strong, prepared. She has trained her whole life to be your mate. Mira… she’s—”

Kaelan’s gaze never left Mira. “She is my mate,” he said with conviction. “Your expectations do not define her value.” His words silenced the hall, an unmistakable authority radiating from him. There was a rawness to his tone that made the audience shift uncomfortably. “Strength isn’t always loud or obvious. Mira has an inner resilience that speaks louder than any display of power.”

Liana’s anger flared, her hands clenched into fists. “This is ridiculous!” she shouted, her voice trembling with fury. “I was the one meant to be by your side! This… this can’t be happening!”

Mira watched her sister, a pang of guilt twisting in her heart. She hadn’t asked for this, hadn’t even dreamed of it, but here she was, caught in the center of a storm of expectations and broken promises.

“Liana,” Kaelan addressed her, his voice calm yet firm, “you have been groomed to be by my side, yes, but that does not mean you’re my mate. A bond like this is not something that can be forced or arranged. My instincts have led me to Mira.”

Liana’s face twisted in rage, and she let out a sharp laugh. “Instincts? You expect us to believe that you’re willing to throw away everything because of a feeling?” She shot Mira a venomous glare. “She’s been waiting for this her whole life, hiding in the shadows, hoping to steal what was meant to be mine!”

“That’s enough, Liana,” Kaelan said, his voice steely.

Mira’s father, unable to hold back any longer, stepped forward, his face twisted with a mixture of anger and disbelief.

“Alpha Kaelan, please reconsider. This isn’t what we agreed upon. Mira is…” He hesitated, his face flushing with frustration. “She’s not the one we prepared for you. Liana has always been the one intended for this role. Mira would bring nothing but weakness.”

At that, Kaelan’s gaze hardened. “A true mate is chosen by fate, not by human designs.”

A murmur rippled through the hall as Kaelan’s words sank in. Mira’s mind whirled, her pulse racing. She had always been the girl in the background, the one overlooked.

Mira’s father opened his mouth to protest again, but Kaelan’s gaze snapped to him with a steely warning. “Enough,” he said, his voice dropping low. “You do not get to decide who is worthy of my bond. Mira is my mate, and that is final.”

Kaelan turned back to her, his expression softening as he touched her hand again.

“Mira,” he said, his voice barely more than a whisper, “I know this is overwhelming. But if you’ll have me, I am yours, and you are mine.”

‘No, this can’t be,’ she thought, her heart racing wildly. She shook her head, glancing over at Liana, whose face was contorted in rage and disbelief.

Quietly, Mira yanked her hand from the Alpha’s grip and stumbled backward, her mind whirling as she dashed out.
