Captured by the Bad Boy

Chapter 10: The Agreement

Ch. 10 / 30 May 22, 2025

The agreement was simple, at least on paper. We would use each other, no strings attached, just physical release. No emotions. Just sex.

That was what I told myself, what I needed to tell myself. It was supposed to be clean, a way to rid ourselves of the frustration we’d been harboring for years. Nothing more, but nothing had prepared me for how real it would feel.

The first time we acted on it, I submitted physically, but emotionally? I kept myself distant. I reminded myself over and over that it was just sex. That was all it was. I wasn’t supposed to get attached. I wasn’t supposed to want more.

Yet with every kiss, every touch, I felt a part of me slipping. Tristan had a way of making me lose control, of pushing me to the edge. He was cruel, taunting in the way he knew exactly how to push my buttons, but in between the degradation, there were moments of something unexpected. Praise. Praise that felt so good, so intimate, that it nearly made me forget the harshness.

He’d say things like “You’re so fucking beautiful, Mia,” his voice low and possessive, sending shivers down my spine. And in the next breath, “You’re nothing but a toy for me to use, aren’t you?” The words came so naturally to him, and yet they struck me. At first, it made my skin crawl, but then… something in me responded. Something I hadn’t known existed.

I couldn’t explain it, but I craved both, the praise and the degradation. It was like a part of me that had been locked away for so long was finally being uncovered. Tristan was making me feel things I didn’t know I needed.

I loved every second of it. And it terrified me. I was obsessed with it. Obsessed with him.

But we both agreed—once the night was over, we would pretend it never happened. We would go back to being who we were before, this twisted connection between us nothing more than a momentary lapse in judgment.

It was easier said than done.

The next day, we were back in the office. Things were supposed to go back to normal, but they didn’t. They couldn’t.

The tension between us was palpable. Every time I saw him, my body betrayed me. I could feel the heat rising in my chest, the way my skin tingled at the thought of him. The memory of the night before played on a loop in my mind, and every time our eyes met, I could feel the weight of it between us. We were professional, we were cold. But underneath it all, there was this undeniable undercurrent of something more.

I tried to push it down, to focus on work, but Tristan seemed intent on making it impossible for me to ignore him.

He caught me in the elevator on my way to the next meeting, his presence filling the space. I could feel the tension in the air, the way our proximity made everything seem more electric. I knew he was aware of it too.

“You look good today, Mia,” he said, his voice low and smooth, almost too casual. But there was something in his tone that made my breath catch. “Like you’re ready for anything.”

I didn’t know how to respond. I didn’t want to respond. “Thanks,” I muttered, my voice betraying the slight tremor in it.

“You know, last night… the taste of your lips still lingers,” he continued, and I could feel my stomach twist. He was playing with me, and he knew it. “I still can taste you.”

I wanted to tell him to shut up. I wanted to tell him that this wasn’t something we could talk about, that it was supposed to be forgotten. But the words wouldn’t come. Instead, I just looked away, focusing on the numbers above the door as the elevator hummed its way to the next floor.

But Tristan wasn’t done. He always knew how to push, how to stir.

“I’ve been thinking about it,” he continued, his voice barely above a whisper now. “About how much you like it when I talk to you like that. Makes me wonder what other things you’re into.”

I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks. I was silent, unable to find my words. I wasn’t prepared for this. The professional walls I had carefully built around myself were crumbling with each quiet word from him.

Before I could respond, the elevator dinged, signaling our arrival on the floor. Tristan gave me a sly smile, a look that said I know exactly what I’m doing.

“You should be careful, Mia,” he said, his lips curling into a grin. “You don’t want to give me ideas.”

I got out of the elevator quickly, my heart hammering in my chest, trying desperately to ignore the knot in my stomach. I wanted to lash out. I wanted to tell him to stop, but I couldn’t deny how much I was still feeling what he’d said. The heat between us was still there, a lingering echo that refused to fade.

What just happened?

The rest of the day was a blur of meetings and uncomfortable interactions, but I couldn’t shake the tension. Every time Tristan was near, I felt like I was holding my breath, like I was walking a fine line between control and chaos. We would bicker, like always, snide comments, teasing jabs, and sharp words. But this time, it was different. Every exchange felt heavier. Every word felt like it was laced with something more than just the usual animosity.

We still wanted to kill each other, but there was no denying it, we also wanted each other. The power struggle was becoming unbearable. Neither of us could back down, not when the stakes felt so high.

In the break room, I stood with my coffee, staring out the window, trying to find a moment of peace. But that peace was shattered when Tristan walked in, casually leaning against the counter beside me.

“Something on your mind?” he asked, his voice smooth and teasing.

I didn’t look at him, knowing that if I did, I would lose all control. “Nothing you need to know,” I replied curtly, taking a sip of my coffee. He raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. “Sure about that?”

I took another sip, my grip tightening around the cup. “You think you know everything, don’t you?”

He laughed, and the sound was like a low growl. “I know you better than you think, Mia. You think I don’t see the way you look at me? The way you react when I’m around? It’s not as subtle as you think.”

My breath caught in my throat. “You don’t know anything about me,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “You don’t get me.”

He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming. “I don’t need to get you, Mia. I just need to know what you want. And right now? I think you want me.”

I turned to face him, my heart pounding in my chest. “What are you playing at, Tristan? We both know this is just some sick game for you.”

He was so close now that I could feel the heat from his body, could smell the faint scent of his cologne. “You think it’s a game?” he said softly. “Maybe it is. But the real question is, Mia—how long are you going to keep pretending you’re not playing, too?”

I swallowed hard, the words burning on my tongue. The truth was, I didn’t know how long I could pretend. Pretend that I wasn’t just as tangled in this mess as he was.

The tension between us was suffocating, thick and palpable. The time we spent in the office, the lines between professional and personal blurred more and more. It wasn’t just the constant bickering, the subtle taunting. It was the way our bodies reacted to each other. The way his eyes would linger on mine, the way my skin would burn when he was near.

We were playing a game, both of us pretending we had control. But the truth was neither of us did.

And that was the most dangerous thing of all.
