Third person's POV
They were about to enter the perilous area known as the Demon's Abyss.
Wilmot was determined to eliminate the lurking danger.
He believed that the intruder was hiding in the storage room. He wouldn't dare to come out.
The storage room, which only contained some maintenance tools and was seldom visited, was the perfect hiding place.
As Wilmot pushed open the door to the storage room, a pungent and musty odor assaulted his senses.
It was mingled with a faint scent of blood.
With the approaching evening and an overcast day, the entire sea was shrouded in darkness, and the storage room on the lower deck was pitch black.
The only sound was the waves crashing against the ship, making the room eerily quiet.
Wilmot stepped cautiously into the room, his intuition telling him that the person he was looking for was there.
Wilmot knew that that man was like a venomous snake lurking in the dark, waiting for the right moment to strike.
The sky grew darker, and the sea breeze picked up.
Tabitha felt a cold draft despite the windows and doors being closed tightly, causing her heart to feel uneasy and restless.
She glanced outside to see the howling wind and the turbulent sea, waves following one another.
Entering the Demon's Abyss was like facing a temperamental demon ready to swallow any passersby and ships.
The waves battered the ship, causing it to rock violently.
Occasionally, towering waves several meters high would rise, instilling a sense of dread in anyone who witnessed them.
The deep color of the sea, devoid of sunlight, made the surroundings appear even more ominous and terrifying.
The Demon's Abyss lived up to its reputation for danger and horror.
Tabitha stood by the window, her heart filled with trepidation as she observed the scene outside. She thought to herself that it must be about to rain soon.
If it did, conditions at sea would undoubtedly worsen.
The thought of spending the next several hours navigating through such a treacherous sea made Tabitha feel nauseous and sleepless, her worries mounting.
Suddenly, another massive wave hit, and the ship lurched even more violently.
Tabitha almost lost her balance, nearly falling to the floor.
She paced back and forth in her room, contemplating going out to find Wilmot.
His presence brought her a sense of security.
Over time, she had unknowingly grown dependent on him.
As soon as she opened the door, when she was intending to step into the hallway, a gust of wind roared in, slamming the door shut.
The door nearly hit her nose.
A crew member's voice carried through the wind, "Ms. Hartley, please stay in your room. The wind is strong and the waves are high. The ship is rocking severely. You could get hurt easily."
Tabitha wondered where Wilmot was.
Her heart raced with anxiety.
Wilmot, holding a powerful flashlight, walked slowly through the storage room.
The beam revealed old and damaged tools.
Dust danced in the light, and cobwebs adorned the corners.
The glistening webs swayed with the ship's motion.
A large spider was descending along a web when Wilmot swiftly swept the flashlight behind him.
He discovered a masked man standing behind him.
That masked man was holding a dagger only an inch away from Wilmot.
Wilmot's reflexes were razor-sharp. The flashlight's intense beam momentarily blinded the man, causing his strike to falter.
Seizing the opportunity, Wilmot kicked out fiercely.
There was a muffled "thud" as the man crashed into a nearby toolbox, causing several hammers hanging on the wall to fall, raising a cloud of dust.
"Freeze!"
Wilmot directed the flashlight's beam straight at the man, who quickly shielded his eyes. His tall figure appeared forlorn and disheveled amidst the chaos.
Only then did Wilmot scrutinize the man. Upon seeing the mask on his face, his expression changed dramatically.
He uttered in surprise, "It's... you."
