Alpha's Caged Love

A Threat

Ch. 8 / 159 May 05, 2026

Selena heard beautiful classical music as soon as she woke up. She simply relished the music for a moment. She remained calm as the melodies drifted over her. For a moment.

She didn't realise there was an arm around her waist until everything that had transpired flashed through her mind, making her acutely aware of the throbbing migraine in her head and the fact that she was currently in bed. She searched her mind for an explanation as her heart was racing. She concluded that the man must have visited her while she slept. To create as much space between herself and the man, she wriggled out from beneath his toned, muscular arm. She then slid to the side of the bed.

The voice said, "Good morning."

Selena didn't need to turn around because she recognised the voice by this point, but she didn't feel reassured. That voice conveyed strength and danger to her. She sat motionless, unsure of whether to recognise his presence. Should she try to go away? She made no decision. She kept quiet as she sat on the side of the bed.

Even though she felt the bed sway slightly, she ignored him. She felt his hot breath against her neck as he uttered, "I said, good morning, my toy," and then he lightly kissed her neck. Selena sprang out of bed and backed away, stumbling into the furniture in her haste because the contact, however light it had been, felt like a burning coal.

She yelled, "Stay away from me!" while also observing that he was completely dressed, reassuring her that nothing inappropriate had occurred last night.

Cayden continued to lie over the bed, the epitome of male virility, and he purred, "Come on now, it doesn't need to be this way."

Selena approached the door and tried to open it with all of her strength, but it was still locked. Cayden was amusedly watching her as she turned back around to face him.

She said in a calm voice, "Let me out."

He cocked his head to the side and said, "No," as though evaluating her.

She pleaded again, this time with clear rage in her voice, "Let me out."

His shirt was unbuttoned to display the top of his muscular chest. Because his face wasn't enough. He also needed to have an amazing, drool-worthy body.

"If you don't want me to do anything, quit staring at me that way." He growled.

Selena knew she had been staring.

When she said, "I wasn't looking at you," she got his full-blown smile that nearly made her gasp. He became unreal from being just attractive.

If he kept smiling like that, it would be hard to conceal his impact on her. Cayden cautiously got up from the bed and walked up to her. As he approached her, he gave her a direct look.

"You agreed to this. Why are you being difficult, then?"

He imprisoned her by placing his hands on the wall behind her head.

"If you don't follow through, I'll break my commitment to you as well. My men would love to ravage some new girls."

As she became aware, her eyes widened in fear.

"No! please don't do that. I am sorry."

She pointed to her silver collar and said, "But before we.... I mean, before we do it.... could you take these off?"

Cayden glared at the band, his eyes burning with contempt.

"As soon as I locate a witch, I'll take care of it. While you were sleeping, I tried to take it off, but it zapped me."

"Its.... Is it enchanted?" Selena exclaimed abruptly.

"Yes, you didn't know? It may have stayed put for all these years because of that. Any wolf would have succumbed to silver poisoning."

Before she asked him more. Selena winced in shame when her stomach grumbled loudly at that precise time. Even though she had a substantial meal last night, she was still peckish this morning. How long had she been asleep?

"Let's get you a bite to eat. Little wolf." He laughed.

The door promptly opened when he ordered "Open," having been cleverly unlocked by the guard who had stepped back to let him in. When the door opened, Cayden grabbed Selena by the arm.

Uncomfortably shifting, Selena was on the verge of bolting, but where would she go? Before she could make it to the end of the corridor, she would be apprehended. She wanted to walk rather than be forced on, although being aware that she had no other option. His contact caused tingles to spread over her flesh as his hand touched her lower back. Although his hand was in the hollow space directly above her butt, it felt so private and intimate, even though he wasn't touching her through the clothing. She never felt that way with Gerald. It was both terrifying and quite perplexing. He either didn't sense Selena stiffening or was pretending not to, since he didn't move his hand as they made their way from the room to the expansive kitchen.

She climbed the stairs, conscious of his proximity. She could feel his attention fixating on her behind. Selena immediately entered another opulent realm. A few others were already seated in the big eating area, but they oddly avoided her like she didn't exist. That confused her whether to feel relieved or irritated, but she didn't dwell on it for too long. She was too preoccupied to do anything but stare. This cafeteria was huge. Everything was in black and white, and it had at least a hundred seats.

There were various seating places with a variety of comfortable looking chairs and armchairs. There were large-screen TVs everywhere, and they were all tuned to different channels. As he took her to the rear, Cayden remained silent. He continued to take her straight towards the table that they had just abandoned by 4 wolves who had fled as soon as they saw Cayden. He showed for her to sit down. As soon as her bottom touched the couch, she sighed. She leant back against the pillow and took in her surroundings.

A stunning woman wearing a red crop top and tight black slacks suddenly materialised and fixed an ardent glance on Cayden. She seemed like she was going to throw herself at him and rip off his shirt.

"Sir, what can I get you?"

Selena shuffled nervously in her seat as the woman purred, wondering if she was going to jump into his lap. Her voice came off so sexual. It was irritating to see that woman drooling over him.

"The usual. Make it two, Michelle." Without even bothering to glance at her, Cayden gave the order.

She finally turned to Selena with a frown, asking, "And drink?" with a hint of hurt in her voice.

She responded in a hoarse voice, "just water."

When Cayden did finally look at Michelle, he commanded, "Coffee for me." She appeared to be expecting him to tumble head over heels in love as her face lit up. Instead, he merely responded, "That's all," while looking at his phone.

Michelle gave Selena a menacing look, as if she intended to kill her before stalking out. She was pretty enough to draw a lot of male attention as she walked away, but clearly not from the one she wanted.

"You slept with her?" Selena abruptly inquired.

He cocked his head, his sneaky grin spreading across his features.

"A few times. It meant nothing and Michelle knows her place. Are you jealous, little wolf?"

She rolled her eyes.

"What happened to my girls?" She switched the topic.

He answered sternly, "They are safe."

"Can I see them?"

Before he could respond, Michelle showed up with two plates of delicious-smelling, full English breakfast. Instead of walking away, she waited and gave Selena a cold, hard look.

"Michelle, do you have a problem?" Cayden questioned with finesse. The threat in his voice was apparent.

She inhaled deeply before pushing a lock of her lovely blonde hair back.

"No, But I want to know who she is and why is she here with you?"

The atmosphere suddenly changed, many people stopped eating and stared at the altercation going on.

"That's none of your business, Michelle. The only thing you need to know is what would be my next order. Is that all right?" He stated with a frigid stare.

Michelle turned pale, and her eyes were filled with tears. Almost dramatically, she stifled a sob and stamped out of the kitchen.

Cayden called softly, his voice just slightly raised, "Max."

Max approached them while grinning broadly.

"I don't wish to see her again, ever. Take care of her."

Max didn't show if he thought that was an odd request. "Sure, boss."

Cayden took one plate and gave it to Selena, telling her to eat.

"What are you going to do to her?" She asked, her voice almost in panic. Michelle was annoying, but she didn't want her to die because of her.

"Don't worry about her. You want to see your girls? Then eat." He commanded and casually sipped his coffee.
