Abbie
I stared at Hunter like a dummy, unconsciously smiling. I hadn't noticed I had my hands on his chest. His chest rose beautifully up and down. I could hear his heartbeat pumping fast. My heart quickened. I looked at his lips, they looked so good. So... kissable. His lips tugged into a smile, making them look so freaking tempting. I wondered what he tasted like. I bet his kisses are sweet, like the sweetest fruit you'd ever tasted.
I leaned a little, almost closing my eyes, expecting the kiss. I could feel his warm breath near my lips, sending sparks over my body. "Abbie cakes," he whispers in a husky low tone, sending shivers down my spine. The sound of his husky voice alone made me want to moan.
"Yeah," I whispered, biting my bottom lip, gripping his shirt in my hands as I felt his chest rising up and down so seductively.
"We should get going?" he clears his throat, making me snap out of it. "Uh, right...yeah. Let's go." I say, pulling away and turning quickly. He chuckles, nodding his head. Like, what the hell? What was that? Why was I in such a trance?
I almost let him kiss me there.
I instantly felt a void inside of me, though; my body felt cold, missing his touch. No... he can't possibly have this big effect on me in such a short time. Impossible. What the heck is happening to me? Get over yourself, Abigal.
His car was parked right up front in the first parking spot, making my eyes widen in shock. "Holly shit. You drive an Aston Martin?" I said, my eyes wide in shock. It was a beautiful dark blue, with tinted windows and customed interior.
"Yeahp. Aston Martin Valour. It's next year's model, but I was able to pull a few strings and bought it early for myself." he says, making me tilt my head. "Oh. That's... Ok, that's actually impressive, to be honest." I say making him chuckle as he opens the door for me.
The car still had that new car smell, and the seats were quite snug. I was very impressed. I had never ridden in a car this luxurious. I felt like I was dreaming. And all differences aside, I was happy for all of his success. Everyone here seems to love him, he looks like he turned out to be a great leader, just like his dad.
He closed the door behind me and ran to the other side, got in, and started the engine. Before I knew it, we were right back in the pack house.
✨✨✨✨
"Hunter! I'm not a baby. I can dry my own hair." I grunted as he grabbed my towel, rubbing it against my hair in an attempt to dry it after I had showered. He stood behind me in sweatpants, shirtless and looking like a freaking God. Hot damn, I hate him.
I had just gotten out of a long hot shower, and I honestly debated getting out. His shower was like standing under a big warm magical waterfall. It made me feel so relaxed in there that I seriously debated getting out for nearly a half hour. The water really helped me relax after this shitty day. I wore a huge extra comfy bathrobe that felt like a warm blanket wrapped around my body, making me feel like I was ready to doze off.
"Ouw! Hunter, you're pulling my hair!" I said, turning and smacking him with a pillow, making him chuckle.
"I'm sorry. I'm just trying to help, I swear," he says, holding the towel.
A knock is heard at the door, making us turn. "One second," he says, as he places the towel down and clears his throat. He runs down the steps and opens the door. I peek down and see Livie at the door smiling at him. "Hi, Hunter. We came to steal your mate away for a few moments. Can we?" she says, looking inside.
"Uh, what for?" he asks, scratching his head.
"We were supposed to meet with Lily did you forget? We would have met with her sooner had you not taken her for a joy ride. Where were you guys all afternoon?" she says, walking in.
I decided to change quickly, almost stumbling as I put on my underwear. I went with sweatpants suit in a light gray tone and paired it with a white t-shirt. I put on socks and quickly put on my sneakers. "It's a bit late, Liv. I don't think it's a good idea for her to go this late."
"But why not? You guys always stay out super late. I see nothing wrong with her joining us for a few hours. Besides, Brandon and Ricky have been waiting for you to go practice at the race tracks." she says as I make my way down, putting my hair up in a messy bun.
"Oh, shit. I forgot," he says, covering his face with his hands. His biceps looked so good flexing so effortlessly. Damn it, what is the matter with me? Why am I being so hormonal right now? I can not be getting turned on by his damn arm muscles.
"Hi, am I interrupting?" I said, making Livie turn with a smile.
"Oh, Abbie. Great, you're here. Come on, let's get out of here."
"Uh, where... where are we going, again?" I asked as she grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the door.
"Dress shopping," she says, making me feel confused.
"Sorry, dress shopping? But, it's late. Isn't it close to eleven o'clock?" I asked, Making her chuckle. "Told you," Hunter says, crossing his hands over his chest.
"Yes. But this is honestly the only time we can do it. Any time earlier would not be good for Lily. She doesn't like being around too many people you know?" she says, making me feel even more confused. The last I knew, Lily was a big social butterfly and loved being around people.
I looked back at Hunter who had his arms crossed over his chest, chuckling as Livie pulled me away. "Wait, but, I don't have any money," I State, making her stop. "Silly. You're not paying for your gown," she says, making me tilt my head.
"I'm not?"
"No. Hunter is," she says pointing toward him. "Oh, I don't know about this."
"Abbie, just go. Have some fun. Don't worry about expenses, ok? Besides, Lily would love to see you." Hunter says, his smile falters, and a sad expression envelops him. Was I missing something?
I looked at Livie who gave me a sweet smile. "I... I guess it would be good to join you guys. And... I haven't seen Lily in so long. Ok, lead the way I guess." I say shrugging my shoulders and smiling at her.
Livie opens the door and motions for me to step out the door, then turns toward Hunter, "Don't worry, lover boy. I'll make sure to bring her before you're back. Just.. Try not to crash too many cars, will you?" she says, making my eyes widen in worry.
"Car crash?" I ask, concerned as I look at Hunter smiling mischievously. "Yeah, don't worry. They're just practicing for work," she says, making me tilt my head pensively.
"Uhm. Ok." I replied, crossing my hands over my chest.
"Don't think too much about it. I promise they won't get hurt... much," she says, trying to hide her own concern.
We made our way to the other side of the floor we were in and waited when she knocked on the door. "Come in," I hear a soft voice answer.
Livie opens the door and gestures for me to walk inside. The room is so welcoming, but dark. It had the same design as Humter's room, except her windows were draped in long curtains, exposing only the ceiling windows. It was still pouring out. The only difference was that her room was slightly smaller than Hunter's, and by the looks of it, her room was downstairs. It only had a small balcony with a small sitting area and a bookshelf filled with books of all kinds. Her room didn't have a kitchen either like Humter's did, and her chimney was on the opposite side from where Hinter's chimney was located.
But all I could think of was what Livie said.
Were they really going to be out driving right now for practice? What practice, and for what? What if Hunter loses control? What if he crashes really badly and breaks a bone or gets seriously hurt?
"Hi, guys. Come on in." a girl with light brown hair says, making Livie smile. "Hi, Bella. Where's Lily?" she asks, looking around. "She'll be out. She went up to her room for a second.
"Isabella, this is Abbie, Hunter's mate," she says with a smile, gesturing to me. I smile politely, making the other girl smile back.
"Abbie, this is my sister-in-law, Isabella Watson," she says proudly. "It's good to meet you," I say as I see her rosy cheeks as she smiles.
"Likewise, Abbie. Come take a seat with us."
"Abbie?" I hear a warm sweet voice from our side, making me turn.
Lily stood by the door to her room, her eyes had this distant look. I almost didn't recognize her. Why did she look so sad? This was not the Lily I remembered.
"Lily!" I said softly. She instantly began to cry, running to me and hugging me tightly around my neck. I was startled, hugging her back. My eyes widened in surprise, unable to comprehend what was happening.
I am not sure if I should ask if she was ok. I saw the way Hunter's expression changed when I asked him about his sister, and she was always so cheerful when we were kids. What changed?
"Maybe I'm just thinking too much about it, right?" I asked myself in thought. But something felt off. Very off. It made my heart swell with sadness for her.
Still, we made small talk. Lilly seemed void and distant at times making me wonder if things were ok. Maybe I should ask Hunter about it. I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable.
"What do you think of this dress?" Livie asks her, bringing out a blush pink long-sleeve chiffon dress. "I love it. I want this one," she says, tugging her lips into a small smile.
"Then it's settled. This dress for me, this is Bella's, Lily's... and what about you, Abbie?" I was not really comfortable getting a fancy dress. They looked so expensive and the last I needed was for Hunter to spend money on me.
"Don't think so much into it, Abbie. Just pick the one you like the most. Hunter won't mind, I promise. Besides, I know my brother, if you don't pick a dress he will pick one for you, and you don't want that." she says with a small chuckle. Her eyes were still sad, but I was happy to see her smile.
Livie and the girls reassured me it would be ok. Besides, I think I could maybe pay him back in the long run, right? I just need to find a good job first.
I sigh, biting my bottom lip. "Ok. There was one that caught my eye. The long black one with the hand-sewn flower-like ribbons." I say, making Bella's eyes gleam.
"Oh, the one with the heart shape front and the high slit on the side? Oh, Hunter is going to love that one. You will look so stunning." she adds, making me smile.
I always dreamed of owning a fancy dress, but I never thought it possible. I suppose it would be nice to do it at least once in a lifetime, right?
We remained in Lily's room talking and then I became far too sleepy. I bid my good nights, hugged all of them, and made my way back to the room. The thought of Lily's sad face lingered in thought. I knew a little too well the troubles of life that can break you, I had too many of those and hit rock bottom way too many times. But, what could have happened to Lily for her to look so sad, all while trying to smile through it?
On one hand, I don't know if I want to know, but the other aches for me to know... maybe, I could help her. I hope I can help her.
