Abbie
We drove for what seemed forever. Jessie clutched onto my hand the whole time until she fell asleep, followed by me shortly after. I never realized how far I had strived away from the pack until now. Boy, did I really run so far when I was young? How in the world did I even manage to survive running so far away?
After a long drive and a quick nap later, I woke up, something inside me told me... I knew we had arrived. I gasped as I saw the huge gates leading to the pack entrance. The place was heavily guarded by warriors. Luke placed the window down, smiling toward them. I had forgotten how pretty Hunter's pack was. The huge iron gates in New fresh black paint made it look even fancier. The small olive trees his dad had planted when we were kids were now massive beauties.
"Good morning. Identification, please. And may I ask what your visit here is for today?" one of the guards asked, making Luke nod with a smile. He handed him his ID card along with his invitation. "We received an invitation from your alpha and he asked that I come early for the party. You can ask him yourself if you need to." Luke said with a smile.
The guard looked at the ID and invitation, then looked at Luke and Felicity. "Alpha Luke. No need Sir. Our alpha has been expecting you. It's a pleasure to meet you, sir. Would you please be so kind as to give us the names of all your guests, please? We just want to ensure we have everyone situated in proper sleeping quarters." he says, making Luke smile as he grabs the tablet and fills in the list.
"Here you go," Luke says handing him back the tablet. The guard looks over it and his eyes widen in surprise. "Wait, Marissa Shepherd... I know a Marissa Shepherd. She was from our neighboring pack, The Blue Lotus." he says smiling. "Oh. Yes, she's with us. She's part of our pack now." Luke says proudly.
"Is she here with you?" he asks, and I instantly want to hide. " No. She's in the next car. But you're welcome to say hi if you'd like." the guard chuckles, nodding to Luke's response. "I will. Thank you. Again, welcome to our pack, Alpha. Enjoy your stay." he says tapping on the car top. We made our way inside as they opened the gates, and my heart just went crazy.
I became more nervous than I thought possible. Is this really happening? I'm not dreaming, right? I'm really here!
I fixed my pants, ran my fingers through my hair to fix my loose curls, and smoothed out my shirt as I readied myself to get out of the car. "Ok. We got this, Merida. We got this! On the bright side... We finally get to see the rogue King in a few days when he arrives. After so many years, we finally get to see him!" I said excitedly, but Merida didn't respond. She seemed off as if she wasn't paying much attention to me today.
"Merida? Earth to Merida!" I said through our mind link but no response. She was acting so weird. I shook it off, she had her days so I learned to deal with it. Instantly, we were greeted by people from the pack as they made their way out to receive us. But I gotta say, I was really nervous, hoping none of them actually recognized me.
I have nothing against Hunter's pack, they were all pretty nice to me. Maybe because they knew Hunter and I talked from time to time, but nothing more than hello from his pack was exchanged with me. As for my old pack, I hope I don't see any of them here.
I shook my little sister Jessie lightly, making her little eyes open softly as she pouted. "Jessie, e]were here, baby," I said softly, making her sleepy eyes shoot open in excitement. "Oh my goddess... this place is so big!" she says excitedly as she sees the massive pack house. The structure was impressive with a modern resort cabin look, but still regal, with a mixture of stone and wood.
The whole pack had a huge wrapped-around patio, and from the looks of it, they had added a good three floors to the already four floors they had. His pack was the largest in this region, so I'm not surprised. She gets off excitedly, and I contemplate again... was it really a good idea to come? I guess there's no turning back. "Hi everyone. I'm Luna Black. Welcome to our pack. Please, come in. Boys, please take their bags." I hear a familiar voice, making me fill with giddiness inside. I tried to hide in the back as she gave everyone a warm welcome.
As soon as we had arrived in front of the pack house, Merida had started going crazy, making me want to snap her back into her senses. "Merida, quit it. What is wrong with you?" I scold her, getting whimpers in return.
"Marissa, dear. Oh so good to see you back here. Have you visited your parents, sweetie?" she asks, Marissa, making her smile. "Yes, ma'am. They'll be attending the ball in a few days. So you'll be able to see them."
"Good, good. I look forward to it, sweetie," she says, smiling proudly. She walked with poise, ever so elegantly as she always did. I looked down at my shoes, wiping away a stray tear. I hadn't noticed how much I missed her since I left until now.
"Abigail?" I heard my name being called out, making me look up nervously. "Yes," I answered quietly. My eyes widen as I see Hunter's mom, Amanda. She looked radiant and beautiful as ever. "Hi," I answered shyly.
She covered her mouth, tears trailed down her cheeks as she extended her arms toward me. I couldn't help but choke up. My eyes filled with tears as I quickly went to her and hugged her. Besides my mom, Stephany, Mandy was the closest thing I knew to a motherly figure. "Is it... really you?" she says unsure, and I nod, feeling my eyes fill with tears while unable to say a word. Her eyes widen, gasping in disbelief.
"Oh my goddess, it's you. It's really you my dear, isn't it? Oh my... where have you been, silly girl? Do you have any idea how my husband and I had worried about where you've been all these years? Oh my.... Look at you? You're so grown. So beautiful." she says, cupping my face and placing a kiss on my forehead. "I knew it... I always knew it. I knew you were alive, I told everyone, you had to be out there somewhere, I just knew it. Are you ok? Are you safe? How are you being treated?" she says, looking me over as if she needed to examine me personally, looking for any signs of mistreatment.
If she only knew I hid all that torture very well as a kid. She'd go crazy if she ever found out how dear daddy used to beat me.
I sometimes wished as a kid that I was part of this pack. They were all so nice and protected each other. Such a United pack. They had a great alpha and Luna who took care of them and cared for them. Not like my old pack, The Blue Lotus. They were all greedy assholes who cared only for their own selfishness and profitable gains.
"I'm fine, Luna Black. How are you? It's so good to see you. I've... I've missed you so much." I said, holding her hands.
"Oh, sweetie, it's Mandy for you, you know that. We missed you so much. But how did you... how did you end with Alpha Luke's pack? Why didn't you ever contact us? Your dad said you ran away. But, I never understood why. You were so bright, so studious. I never understood why you'd just run away without a word to anyone." she asks, making me a bit angry. I guess he did lie about the truth. But why wouldn't he? He'd never hear the end of it if they knew the truth about my sudden disappearance.
"It's a long story," I said, smiling slightly. "Oh, sweetheart," she says softly, pursing her eyebrows worriedly. "I'm just glad you're ok. Did you come here with your mate?" she asks, looking over the pack members that had arrived with us.
"No. I don't have a mate." I said through chuckles, making her look at me surprised.
"But... you're twenty years old already. Aren't you?"
"Yes. But... I haven't had luck finding my mate yet." I say, making her tilt her head slightly, pondering. "Oh," she says with a smirk, making me chuckle. "Oh, by the way... this is my adoptive family," I say making her look at me confused.
"My mom, Stephany. My dad, Bertram. You know my brother-in-law, Alpha Luke, and my sister, Felicity, his mate. This is my little sister, Jessie." I said smiling as I introduced them. She turned her confusion into a bright smile as I proudly introduced each one, making her bow in respect and she shook the hand of each one again. "If you are all her family, then you are my family," she says smiling, making my heart swell with joy. "Oh, Hunter has to know you're back. He'll, be so excited. You have no idea," she says, making me groan inside as my stomach fluttered nervously.
I was a bit compelled to tell her not to jump into any crazy ideas, but Merida began prancing like a mad woman, telling in my head as if she had stepped on dog poop or something.
"Merida, what is the matter with you? Stop it!" I told her, making her more agitated. "Mate... Mate... Abbie our mate is here!" she yells, making my eyes widen in shock as I look at Luna Black.
"Everything ok, dear?" Luna Black asks, making me feel nervous. "Uh... yes. Everything is fine. Thank you."
"Great. Come, let's get you situated. I'm sure my son will be with you and your pack in a bit. Please, all of you, come inside for a warm meal and drinks. I'm sure you had a long drive out here." she says smiling at everyone.
(Third Person POV- Unknown to Abbie, Luna Mandy had already sent out the word, with Hunter being the first to get it through their mind link. "Hunter, sweetie. The Black Raven's Creek Pack is here. Come say, hi, won't you?" she says happily as she hugs Abbie again before they start walking inside the pack house.
Hunter and Ricky look at each other and freeze on the spot as they train. "What's wrong with you, come on. Let's keep going!" Ricky says to Hunter who looks at him with shock in his eyes. "They're here. The Black Ravens. They're...here." he says, looking at Ricky worryingly.
His mind is clouded, taking off running the opposite way as he feels Titus jumping with joy and howling in his head. "Why am I this excited, Titus? Like, what the fuck? I thought we wanted to wait for Abbie, but why am I this excited to meet this girl?" he asks his wolf, making him howl. "Mate... Mate, Hunter. We found her. Can you smell her? What does she smell like?" his wolf asks excitedly, making Hunter run faster toward his pack house. "Damn... I can smell her from here. She smells just like the cardigan. Cherry blossoms and peonies. She smells so good, Titus, it's driving me wild." he runs faster, almost knocking over an old 0mega who was getting up from sitting on a bench near the garden to the pack house. "Sorry!" he says as he dashes past him, making the omega chuckle. "No worries, Alpha," he replies through his chuckle, seeing his alpha run.
"She's here Titus. Our mate is finally here!" he says as he bursts the doors open, making everyone inside stop to look at him in shock.)
