Meanwhile, right as Nelly came out of the bathroom, she heard someone calling her name in a low voice behind her.
“Nelly .”
When she turned around, Alpha Kilian darted over to her and pinned her against the wall before kissing her. Nelly 's heart skipped a beat when she saw Alpha Kilian 's attractive face a hair's breadth away from hers.
She kept her eyes open at the start, but as Alpha Kilian deepened the kiss, she gradually let her eyes flutter close.
After what seemed like an eternity, Alpha Kilian slowly let go of her.
His forehead remained plastered to hers as Nelly panted. When he saw her reddened lips, he smiled. “What are you smiling at?” she asked.
“Nothing. I just find you beautiful right now,” Alpha Kilian replied.
Nelly glanced at him for a moment as she panted. “So you're hoping that this kiss will pacify me?” “You're finally admitting that you're angry.”
“I'm not admitting anything, but aren't you doing this just to find out if I'm really angry?” Alpha Kilian gazed at her quietly.
A beat later, Nelly said, “Alpha Kilian , I told you I'm not angry.” “But you—”
“I was upset initially, but Alpha Kilian , I trust you, and I trust that everything you say and do is for my sake, so I'm genuinely not angry.”
Alpha Kilian was stunned for a long while. “Do you really think that?” Nelly nodded. “Yes.”
“What if I've said some untruthful things?”
“If it's not for my sake, I'll be mad. If it is, I won't,” Nelly said, shaking her head. Alpha Kilian smiled at that. It was then he finally felt at ease.
When he saw the damp state of her hair, he uttered, “I don't know why, but I'm feeling both relief and somewhat disappointed.”
“Huh?”
Alpha Kilian looked into her eyes and mulled over his thoughts for a considerable amount of time before answering, “Nothing. This is something you'll probably understand when the right time comes.”
Nelly did not dwell on his words for long. “Then we'll leave this for the future us. I have something to attend to now.”
Nelly pulled his hand away from her and walked to the side.
Alpha Kilian ended up hugging the air. As he watched her leave, he asked, “What are you going to do?” Nelly did not give him an answer as she walked to the computer.
Seeing that, Alpha Kilian went to the cabinet to grab the hairdryer to dry her hair.
While Nelly was fully focused on using the computer, Alpha Kilian would glance at the screen every once in a while as he dried her hair.
When he saw what was on her screen, he stiffened. Nevertheless, he continued blow-drying her hair. Only when her hair was mostly dry did he put the hairdryer aside to sit beside her.
“Nelly , what are you planning to do?” Silence answered him.
“Are you going to invite Thalia to a meeting as Shadow Seeker?” he continued. Nelly turned to him slowly. “Yes.”
Alpha Kilian furrowed his brows in worry. “Nelly , putting aside whether or not this will be useful, what if she still insists on not coming back even if you meet her as Shadow Seeker?”
“I'll make a promise with her before I meet her. Thalia's one to stick to her promises, so I'm sure she'll keep her word,” Nelly said confidently.
Alpha Kilian had mostly guessed what Nelly 's plan was. After a period of hesitation, he said somberly,
“Nelly , you'll end up in danger. As I said, the lesser people who know about this, the better.” Nelly mulled over his words, but her response was, “I know, but I still believe in her.” “Nelly ...”
“Alpha Kilian , Thalia's like us. Maybe we're both people who don't have long to live, so the identity issue doesn't matter to me right now. What's most important right now is to have Thalia by our side.”
She knew well how it felt to be caught in the throes of the poison activating in her body.
She had to get Thalia to return to their side. That way, she would at least have someone taking care of her when she was caught in the episode. Otherwise, it would be a difficult time to endure on her own.
Alpha Kilian held her hands and said, “Nelly , you'll be fine. I won't let anything happen to you.” Looking at him, Nelly forced herself to curl her lips. “Mm, I know. I'm just assuming the worst.” Alpha Kilian pursed his lips. “Okay, then. I'll respect your thoughts.”
This time, it was Nelly who reached out for his hands. “Don't worry. Thalia's been looking for me for a long time. She has been wanting to get me to join Darknetz, so she definitely won't expose my identity and let any other organizations headhunt me.”
“So you mean to say you and Thalia go back a long way?”
Nelly nodded. “Something like that, so you really don't need to worry about this.” Alpha Kilian bobbed his head. “Okay.”
Right then, a grumbling sound could be heard from Nelly 's stomach. Upon hearing that, Alpha Kilian asked, “Are you hungry?”
Nelly looked down at her stomach. “Yeah.”
“You didn't skip your meals the whole day, did you?” “Hmm... I think I did.”
Alpha Kilian immediately gave her a frown.
Seemingly realizing something, Nelly uttered, “You go down and get ready first. I'll get changed and join you in a bit.”
Alpha Kilian arched a brow at her. “Get changed?” “Mm.”
“Then... do you need my help? It's free.”
Nelly nearly choked on her saliva. “It's fine. Just go outside.” She rose to her feet and started pushing Alpha Kilian out of the room.
Alpha Kilian let her do as she pleased helplessly. He turned around to look at her only when he was by the doorway. “Okay, I'll wait for you downstairs. Don't take too long.”
“All right.”
Glancing at the time, Alpha Kilian added, “Five minutes.” “Sure.”
Finally, Alpha Kilian exited the room. Nelly closed the door behind him.
The smile she had on her face dropped almost instantaneously.
