Alpha King of Ruin and Desire

Chapter 87

Ch. 87 / 150 Dec 30, 2025

“The price was my sworn oath that I would use this power to right the wrong committed against my father, and in doing so, unify the Morvanes and permanently stabilize the region adjacent to the Veil. The Queen cannot tolerate the chaos and lies festering on our side.”

Kian walked back to his desk, pulling out a small, leather-bound journal—Ryland Nightshade’s personal diary, recovered from the ruins of the old Alpha’s vault. He placed it beside a heavy, silver-tipped quill.

“The Silver Queen gave me the True Sight and granted me a vision of the past. The history we believe is a carefully constructed deception. My father, Alpha Ryland Nightshade, did not commit suicide. He was murdered.”

He looked straight at Gareth, who was now standing rigid, fists clenched. “The man who orchestrated his death, who systematically poisoned his reputation, and who is the root cause of the Nightshade’s four decades of suffering, is Alpha Marcus Vane of the Crescent Pack.”

Amelia’s breath hitched. “Marcus Vane? Zoran’s father? But… why?”

“Covetousness, pure and simple,” Kian replied, the bitterness in the word sharp. “Vane knew the Nightshade territory was vital—rich in resources, strategically positioned. He couldn't conquer it through war, as Ryland’s reputation was too solid, and our warriors too fierce. So, he destroyed Ryland from the inside out.”

Kian detailed the vision the Silver Queen had shown him, reliving the agonizing events of the past through his Fae-enhanced sight.

“It began with a subtle campaign of disinformation. Vane, using his deep ties in the greater Morvane Council, started feeding Alpha Ryland deliberately flawed intelligence about threats from distant rogue packs. Ryland, acting on this bad information, committed the Nightshade Pack to costly, unnecessary skirmishes. Each failure chipped away at Ryland’s reputation as a strong, strategic leader.”

“He drained our resources,” Myra whispered, finally understanding the source of their long-term pack debt.

“Exactly. Vane ensured that every failed venture cost us financially, weakening our pack reserves. But the core of the plan was to isolate Ryland completely. Vane was already privy to rumors—whispers that Ryland’s mate was an outsider, strange, and kept hidden. He didn't know the truth of the Fae Queen, but he leveraged the secrecy.”

Kian walked over to the fireplace, leaning his arm on the mantelpiece, his gaze fixed on the dancing flames as he described the climax of Vane's conspiracy.

“Vane launched the final, most devastating campaign. He planted false, physical evidence—dark objects and forged letters—in Ryland’s study, implying he was trafficking with black magic, that his mate was a dangerous witch who was poisoning the pack. He ensured the most conservative and fearful of the Nightshade Elders would find them.”

“Ryland was cornered. He knew if he revealed the truth—that his mate was the Silver Queen and their child, me, was Fae-Morvane—it would cause a massive panic. The Fae would invade to retrieve me, or the other Morvane packs would declare war on Nightshade for sheltering a creature of the Fae realm. The threat was not just to his life, but to the entire Nightshade Pack’s existence.”

“So, Ryland chose the lesser evil,” Kian concluded, his voice barely audible. “He orchestrated his own death, making it look like a suicide born of shame, madness, and despair over the pack’s decline. He sacrificed his honor, allowing his name to be smeared as a warning, ending the immediate threat from Vane and safeguarding the secret of my heritage.”

“And my Uncle Vane?” Gareth asked, his tone still reeling from the decades of lies.

“My uncle was a victim of the same deception. He genuinely believed Ryland had cracked under the pressure and committed the ultimate act of weakness. He seized power, yes, but he was operating on Vane's false narrative, blaming Ryland for all the damage Vane had done. Marcus Vane is the cancer. My uncle was merely an opportunist feeding on the decay.”

The revelation stripped away all ambiguity. The civil war—the internal conflict that had tormented Kian since his return—was a mirage. Their true enemy had been hiding in plain sight, an external threat using internal division as a shield.

“Marcus Vane must pay,” Kian stated, the gold in his eyes solidifying his resolve. “He destroyed my father, crippled our pack, and created the very chaos the Silver Queen tasked me with ending. Now, the full scope of his treachery must be exposed.”

“What about Zoran?” Amelia asked, her voice laced with concern for the younger Alpha. “He is Vane’s son.”

Kian’s expression hardened. “Zoran Vane has been removed from the picture. We know he was struggling with his father’s methods, and as it stands, he is currently being held in our dungeons, arrested by our own initiative on suspicion of financial fraud. We seized documentation suggesting he was funneling pack funds into offshore accounts. This gives us two crucial advantages: first, it removes a potentially sympathetic, but unpredictable, element from the Crescent Pack’s leadership. Second, and more importantly, it makes Marcus Vane vulnerable and distracted, fearing a full audit and exposure.”

He pointed a finger at the map on the wall, specifically marking the sprawling territory of the Crescent Pack.

“The Fae power is not a political tool; it is a weapon of absolute certainty. The time for diplomacy, for treaties, and for subtle maneuvering is over. I returned to end this. I have the power, the justification, and the mandate from a force far older than the Morvane Council.”

Kian turned to his Beta and Second. “Gareth, Myra, I want the pack mobilized immediately. Not covertly, but overtly. I want every single available warrior prepared for a sustained, aggressive action. We are moving against the Crescent Pack. This is not a raid; this is a war of retribution and justice.”

Gareth straightened, years of doubt and confusion clearing from his eyes, replaced by the grim determination of a warrior finally pointed at the true target. “We will prepare them, King. When do we move?”

“Seven days,” Kian commanded. “Marcus Vane will assume we are still reeling from the rogue attacks and preoccupied with stabilizing our borders. He will assume the arrest of his son, Zoran, is merely a minor political skirmish. He will not expect a full-scale invasion of his territory, led by a King whose eyes burn with the truth of two worlds.”

He looked at Amelia, who was now standing, radiating fierce, unwavering support.

“Amelia, you are the foundation. You will remain here, at the heart of the pack. I need you to orchestrate the aftermath. The moment Marcus Vane is neutralized, I will send confirmation. You will then release the full, documented truth of Ryland Nightshade’s murder, Vane’s conspiracy, and the fraud for which Zoran was imprisoned. We will not be viewed as warmongers, but as the restorers of justice. The Fae Queen gave me the sight to discern the truth. I will use it to unify the Morvanes under the banner of Nightshade.”

He walked to her, the gold in his eyes softening as he reached out, touching the familiar warmth of her cheek.

“Let’s face this together My Alpha. We are all here with you” Beta Gareth said.

The weight of the mission settled over the room—terrifying, but absolute. The Nightshade Pack was no longer a divided territory fighting a phantom war. It was a unified army, led by a King who had seen the cosmic truth, ready to deliver a righteous judgment upon the killer of Alpha Ryland. The war for the Morvane realm was about to begin.
