Alpha King of Ruin and Desire

Chapter 82

Ch. 82 / 150 Dec 30, 2025

The initial, staggering shock of the dimensional shift had passed. Kian’s Morvane instincts, normally screaming in defiance of the pure magic surrounding him, were slowly yielding to the commanding presence of his mother. Anya, the Silver Queen, had led him away from the imposing, moon-woven Silver Throne to an alcove that offered a semblance of intimacy.

They were seated in chairs carved from solid, luminous white jade, grouped around a low table of solidified starlight. The air here was cool, impossibly clean, and hummed with the slow, rhythmic pulse of deep-seated power. The surrounding crystalline walls allowed glimpses of the Fae realm's impossible architecture: spiraling ice towers, luminous mountains, and the indigo sky dominated by the perfect, twin silver spheres of the moons.

Anya watched him, her silver eyes radiating an intense focus, now tinged with genuine maternal curiosity rather than royal authority.

“The disruption caused by your arrival will settle quickly, Kian,” Anya reassured him, her voice maintaining its bell-like clarity. “But I can sense the immediate turmoil in your Pack. A King vanishes, and the structure trembles. Tell me what I have disrupted. Tell me of the anchor who holds your reign steady.”

Kian felt the instinctive need to protect his home and his mate, but the Nectar of Preservation, which Anya had insisted he drink shortly after his arrival, had stabilized his dual nature, allowing him to speak with a clear, calm mind despite the urgency he felt.

“My anchor is Amelia, my Luna,” Kian stated, the name evoking a warmth that contrasted sharply with the Fae world's glacial beauty. “She is a Morvane, not a witch like Myra. She is strong, Mother, forged in the harsh realities of the territories, not just in raw power. She is a warrior and a leader in her own right, utterly without vanity. She runs the Pack’s day-to-day welfare, the training, the health of the younglings. When I am consumed by the politics of the Alphas, or when the Fae side of my blood pulls me toward the mystical, she brings me back to the scent of pine and the necessities of the earth.”

He smiled faintly. “She’s likely giving my Beta, Gareth, a strategic nightmare right now. Amelia’s fear does not manifest as panic; it manifests as cold, calculated fury. She will have sealed the Pack borders and ordered a full-scale covert mobilization. She is the Queen of the Wolfheart.”

Anya’s expression shifted, a rare, profound appreciation for a different kind of strength.

“The Morvane bond is a source of continuous, profound wonder here,” Anya mused, running a long, elegant finger over the crystalline tabletop. “We Fae, we prioritize longevity and magical aptitude. To willingly tether your millennia-long soul, your very life force, to a partner whose existence is so fleeting, so utterly dependent on the stability of a physical form... it is the ultimate vulnerability. You have chosen the hardest, most beautiful burden.”

“It is life,” Kian countered softly, yet with absolute conviction. “The cold perfection of this realm, Mother, is beautiful, but it is static. It is unchanging. My world is fire, chaos, fear, and love. Amelia is the reason I fight to keep the forest whole. The joy of the Hunt, the ferocity of the defense, the simple pleasure of watching our wolves thrive—it is worth every moment of the terror.”

“And Gareth, your Beta,” Anya prompted. “Your right hand. And his mate, Myra—the witch who opened the Nexus. Tell me of their alignment. That is a unique pairing in your world—Morvane strength mated to mortal magic.”

Kian described the indispensable role of his Beta. “Gareth is the law, Mother. Where I am the Alpha, driven by instinct and command, he is the tactician, the steady hand. He is unwavering. And Myra… she is his balance. She provides the foresight and the insight that my Morvane senses cannot detect. She is deeply private about her magic, using it only for protection, healing, and guidance. Her bond with Gareth is fierce, rooted in shared purpose. Right now, Gareth will be relying entirely on her calm counsel and her ability to read the magical disruption to keep the Pack from dissolving into fear.”

Anya nodded slowly, absorbing the complexities of the Morvane and Witch dynamic. She spoke briefly of her own separation from Kian’s father, explaining the inevitable fracture.

“Your father was a magnificent King, but two Alpha powers—Fae and Morvane—cannot peacefully reside in one ruler without causing a catastrophic imbalance in the realms’ laws. I had to step back and allow the Morvane Code to guide your upbringing, trusting that when the time came, the Fae blood would answer the call. And it has.”

She returned her focus to the pressing, deadly reality that had necessitated his presence. Her tone shifted, becoming the precise, formidable voice of the Silver Queen.

“The conversation of your life is vital, Kian, for you must know precisely what is at stake. But the clock ticks in both our worlds. You were pulled here because your world is fracturing, and the man responsible for that fracture, the one who orchestrated your father’s murder and currently poisons your territories, is protected by laws that span the three realms.”

Anya rose from her seat and walked toward the luminous walls, her silhouette sharp against the crystalline light.

“You have been called to this Nexus because you are the only creature in all three realms—Fae, Morvane, and Human—who can legally execute Marcus Vane without triggering a political war that would tear the mortal world apart.”

Kian stood instantly, his Morvane form vibrating with alarm. “Marcus Vane. He was the Crescent Pack Alpha, Mother, before he disappeared years ago. The one who disappeared after my father’s death. But he is a missing person in the eyes of the territories. His pack scattered. How can he be actively threatening us if no one knows where he is?”

Anya turned, her silver eyes piercing. “Vane is not merely missing; he is hidden. His disappearance was strategic. He was the Crescent Alpha, yes—a man of immense power, ambition, and, crucially, access to ancient, forgotten Fae contracts through a corrupted branch of his bloodline. He orchestrates the current chaos, the rogue outbreaks, the corruption, and the increasing political pressure on your borders from a place of deep, magical protection and political impunity.”

She began to pace slowly, describing the perilous legal position.

“The First Law of Territorial Sovereignty prevents any outside force from executing a standing or retired Alpha without the full, unquestioned agreement of the Alpha Council, which Vane controls through hidden manipulation. The Second Law of Non-Interference prevents the Fae Courts from intervening in the internal affairs of the Morvane territories. And most dangerously, Marcus Vane is shielded by an Ancient Accords treaty that grants his bloodline, due to an act of historical sacrifice long ago, a unique form of magical immunity from direct Fae retribution.”
