Chapter 452: She’s Ungrateful
The sudden appearance of Phoenix Alliance Group’s mysterious CEO set the internet on fire.
When Dave walked onto the stage in a black suit, his tall frame and sharp features left the audience in awe.
Social media exploded with excitement. The hashtag #DaveOvershadowedBlake shot to the top of the trends.
"The CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group is so handsome! He’s nothing like the rumors said!"
"Wow! He’s rich, powerful, and good-looking. How can someone be this perfect?"
"It hurts knowing he has a fiancée. Honestly, Skylar doesn’t seem worthy of him!"
"I heard Skylar comes from an ordinary family. She just studied abroad and plays the violin well. How did she even meet Mr. Evans?"
"Suddenly, I can't stand Skylar!"
Bianca stared at the comments, speechless.
If Dave hadn’t kept his identity a secret, and people knew about her connection to him, she couldn’t begin to imagine the backlash she’d face.
If they thought Skylar wasn’t good enough for him… then what about her?
"These netizens are so obsessed with looks, acting like they’re worthy of the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group. He’s just rich and handsome. We don’t even know what kind of person he really is!"
Diana scrolled through the comments, shaking her head. Then, she noticed Bianca’s nervous expression. She placed a hand on her arm.
"Bianc, are you okay?"
Bianca snapped out of her thoughts. "The livestream is about to start. Have Blake and Reese arrived?"
"They’re there. Everything’s under control."
Bianca felt relieved. "That’s good. I just hope everything goes smoothly..."
Seeing her worry, Diana quickly reassured her. "Relax. Everyone knows Blake and Reese are top contenders. Even before the show ends, they’ll likely be more famous than Shelly Nelson from Orion Entertainment. They won’t be defeated in the popularity race."
"I hope so," Bianca murmured, still bothered. Something felt off, but she couldn’t figure out what.
The uncertainty made her restless.
Meanwhile, Skylar lay in bed, scrolling through the trending comments.
Her eyes widened in shock. Overnight, Dave had become the perfect dream man for many, while she became a target for ridicule.
Netizens had dug into her background, shared unflattering photos, and spread hateful remarks.
Skylar’s hands tightened around her phone.
She was furious.
‘These netizens had no sense of decency or respect for the law. Did they really think she was an easy target?’
The marriage arrangement was Lucas’s decision. It had nothing to do with her.
Skylar had already endured so much negativity. Now, seeing the harsh criticism online, she became agitated and annoyed.
Right now, she was only known as Dave’s fiancée, yet she was already facing so much hate.
A thought crossed her mind.
If the public found out that Dave was having an affair with Bianca—a mere agent—while engaged, and that Bianca was far less capable than her, then she could shift the attention and ruin Bianca’s reputation.
With this plan in mind, Skylar sat up straight. The gloom on her face disappeared.
"Bianca, just wait. This time, I’ll make sure your reputation is ruined!"
Meanwhile, the show was about to resume. After the commercial break, the live stream would begin.
Feeling anxious, Bianca decided to head to the studio herself. If anything went wrong, she needed to be there to handle it immediately.
Backstage, she found Reese, who didn’t look well.
Reese was surprised to see her. "Hi, Bianca. What brings you here?"
"I came to support you. You have to believe in yourself," Bianca said, holding Reese’s hand.
Reese lowered her head and whispered, "But Bianca… I’m scared…"
Bianca gently patted her shoulder. "Don’t be. I’m right here with you."
Reese took a deep breath, then looked up and nodded. "Thanks."
Bianca glanced around. Blake was nowhere in sight.
"By the way, where is Blake?" she asked, and her eyes searched the room.
Reese replied, "He's already at the venue."
Bianca smiled. "He's really putting in the effort. It looks like he’s taking this livestream seriously." She gently pinched Reese’s cheek. "Come on, cheer up! You’ve got this!"
Reese’s expression falter. She bit her lip as if she wanted to say something but stayed quiet.
"I understand, Bianca."
Bianca gave her an encouraging push. "Alright, it's time. The audience is waiting for you."
Reese nodded silently, then turned and walked toward the stage.
The livestream started soon after. Bianca watched from backstage, keeping an eye on it through her phone.
On screen, Reese looked a bit tense, while Blake remained calm. Shelly, wearing soft, sweet makeup, looked especially charming today.
The host began with an energetic introduction before interviewing the three winners, asking them to share their behind-the-scenes experiences.
At the same time, a popularity poll went live on Star Search’s official website.
Blake led with the highest votes, and Reese followed in second place. Their stable rankings gave Bianca some relief.
But just as Reese started to speak—something went wrong.
Instead of showing the stage, the live stream suddenly switched to an outdoor scene.
A group of stern-looking people stood outside, causing a commotion.
They shouted angrily.
"Reese doesn’t deserve to be a star!"
"She’s ungrateful!"
"She abandoned her own family! She’s heartless!"
Bianca’s mind spun in shock. She stared at the screen and recognized the middle-aged man and woman leading the commotion.
They looked familiar.
Then it hit her—they were Reese’s aunt and uncle-in-law. She had seen them once at the company entrance.
Why were they here? How did they know about the livestream? How did they even find this place?
And why was this being broadcast live?
It was clear—the production team was behind it.
Snapping back to reality, Bianca rushed backstage.
She needed to stop the livestream before things got worse.
As Bianca neared the control room, two tall staff members stepped in her way.
She glanced at them and reached out to knock, but before her hand could touch the door, they blocked her.
"Sorry, Miss, the livestream is in progress. You can’t go in right now," one of them said.
Bianca took a deep breath, keeping her tone polite. "I’m Reese and Blake’s agent. I need to speak with the broadcast director immediately."
The staff exchanged glances, then looked at her with impatience.
"The director’s orders are clear. No one is allowed inside during the livestream. Especially agents."
"What?" Bianca was stunned. "Why? Did the production team plan all of this?"
One of the men responded coldly, "We’re just following orders. We don’t know anything else. Either way, you can’t go in. You’ll have to wait until the live stream is over."
