Who's My Triplet's Alpha Daddy?

Chapter 127

Ch. 127 / 245 Apr 30, 2026

Lysander's POV

Caroline spreads her father's files across the war room table like a woman laying down arms.

Financial networks mapped in blue ink. Communication chains traced in red. Operational hierarchies documented with the kind of detail that would make intelligence agencies weep with envy.

The complete architecture of the Montgomery clan's hunter organization, decoded from Robert's encrypted server and organized with the meticulous precision of a woman who builds legal cases for a living.

Every page is a weapon pointed at her own bloodline, and she hands them over with steady hands and eyes that hold mine without flinching.

"The northeastern cell operates from three locations," she points to an annotated map.

"This warehouse in Portland handles weapons, and this one in Boston manages communications. As for the ranch in Montana, it is their primary training facility."

"How current is this?" Thalia leans over the documents.

"Financial records through last month. Communication protocols rotate quarterly, next change in six weeks. The hierarchy is accurate as of my father's death—there may be promotions since, but the structure won't have changed. Montgomery doctrine values stability over innovation."

"You're handing us the keys to your family's entire operation," I say from the corner.

She meets my eyes. "The burner phone confirmed what the tactical analysis suggested—the probing attacks were preparation for a full assault. These files let me estimate their force composition, weapons inventory, supply lines, and assault vectors."

"And when they realize you're the source?"

"They'll know immediately. I'm the only person with access to these files and the analytical training to weaponize them."

Her voice stays level, but her fingers tremble.

"The Montgomery clan doesn't forgive treason, Lysander. My father's protocols for dealing with internal betrayal are in these files too. They're thorough and they're not gentle."

"Show me," Thalia says.

Caroline pulls a thinner folder bound in red.

"Traitors are stripped of clan identity, marked for elimination. Assets frozen, contacts severed, safe houses revoked. Kill order issued to every operative, effective indefinitely."

She opens to a page I wish I hadn't seen.

"The last defector was my father's cousin Thomas. He disappeared in 2011. They found his body in 2014."

"Three years of running."

"And Thomas didn't have half my intelligence value. Robert Montgomery's daughter, carrying his operational knowledge—they'll dedicate resources to finding me that make his case look like a parking violation."

Thalia gathers the files. "I need to review these with security. If the intelligence checks out, we build our strategy around it."

She pauses at the door.

"Caroline, what you're doing takes more courage than most wolves I know. I won't forget it."

She leaves. The door closes behind her, and the room contracts to just Caroline and me surrounded by her family's secrets spread across a table that's witnessed a hundred pack strategy sessions but nothing quite like this.

"You're quiet," she says. "I expected more reaction from the man whose chosen mate just committed treason."

"I'm trying to find words that match what I'm feeling. English is failing me." I cross to where she stands. "You just signed your own death warrant to protect people who voted on exiling you."

"I signed it to protect the man I love and the family he belongs to. Pack politics are secondary."

"The Montgomerys will hunt you forever."

"I know," simple, without drama. "I'm choosing you anyway, Lysander, the wolf who showed me his truth on a hiking trail when he could have kept lying."

"Caroline—"

"I need to know you're choosing me back."

Her voice cracks—the fear beneath the briefing and the maps and the clinical recitation of her family's elimination protocols.

"I need to hear you say it. That this isn't the bond accepting what's convenient, but you're making a conscious decision to stand beside a woman who just became the most wanted human in the hunter network."

I take her hands. They're shaking now, the adrenaline of the briefing wearing off, leaving behind the raw terror of a woman who's just burned every bridge connecting her to everything she knew.

Her fingers are cold in mine, and I feel the trembling travel up her arms into her shoulders—the physical cost of courage that nobody warns you about.

"I love you." My voice is fierce, stripped of careful hedging.

"I love you too. But loving me is going to make your life significantly harder."

"My life was hard before you, but it was just also empty." I press my forehead to hers, breathing her in—the scent that makes my wolf settle every time, the one constant my body recognizes across every form of chaos.

"A wolf and a hunter's daughter. We shouldn't work. My pack's history, your clan's doctrine, centuries of violence—we are the definition of impossible."

"And yet here we are."

I kiss her—slow, deliberate, promise more than passion.

"I will do everything in my power to make this pack trust my decision. I'll fight for you in every council meeting, every whispered conversation, every moment of doubt. I will spend the rest of my life proving that choosing you was the smartest thing I've ever done."

"That's a lot of pressure on a woman who still can't tell the difference between a pack bond and a parking violation."

I laugh—genuine, startled, completely inappropriate for the gravity of what we've committed to.

But that's Caroline. That's always been Caroline—finding humor in wreckage, cracking jokes while the world burns, making me laugh when laughing should be impossible.

"We're going to take your intelligence, build a defense that makes your father's organization regret hearing the name Silvermoon, and then figure out how to build a life nobody thought was possible."

"Is that a proposal?"

"That's a promise. The proposal comes later, when we're not surrounded by classified documents and facing military assault."

"Very romantic. I'll mark my calendar," her smile is small and brave and breaks my heart in the best way. "Lysander? Thank you for not trying to talk me out of this."

"Would it have worked?"

"Absolutely not."

"Then I saved us both embarrassment," I pull her against me, her head under my chin, her heartbeat against my chest—fast, scared, alive.

My wolf settles with the bone-deep certainty of an Alpha holding his mate, the kind of certainty that doesn't require bonds or destiny to confirm it, and for one quiet moment the war outside doesn't exist.

Just us.

The impossible couple in the impossible situation, choosing each other with open eyes and full knowledge of the cost.

A wolf and a hunter's heir, standing in the ruins of her inheritance, building something from the wreckage that neither world prepared them for.

The world will insist that what we are cannot survive. Let them. We've chosen, and wolves don't unchoose.
