Who's My Triplet's Alpha Daddy?

Chapter 128

Ch. 128 / 245 Apr 30, 2026

I request a full pack assembly, and the compound holds its breath.

The whispers start before the announcement reaches every corner. Pack-wide gatherings are rare—reserved for Alpha succession, declarations of war. The last one ended with half the pack in tears.

"What's this about?" Marcus asks as wolves file in. "The traitor?"

"Is the Alpha stepping down?" someone whispers.

I stand near the platform at the front of the hall, watching two hundred wolves arrange themselves with the particular tension of people expecting bad news.

Caroline waits beside me, hand in mine, spine straight despite hostile eyes tracking her across the room. She's wearing her own clothes today—the deliberate choice of a woman refusing to face judgment in borrowed skin.

"You don't have to do this," she murmurs. "We could keep it between us, keep the relationship quiet until the war settles—"

"Quiet is what got us here. Secrets and whispers and letting the pack draw their own conclusions based on rumors," I squeeze her hand. "They deserve the truth, and you deserve to stand beside me without hiding."

Thalia catches my eye from the side. She nods once—not approval, but acknowledgment. She knows what I'm about to do.

The hall settles into reluctant quiet. I step onto the platform.

"Thank you for gathering on short notice." I scan the faces before me—some curious, some wary, some openly hostile. "I've asked for this assembly because there's something this pack needs to hear from me directly, before speculation and rumor do what they always do."

"Get on with it, Lysander." Elder Thomas, impatient as always.

"I want to announce Caroline Montgomery my chosen mate."

Three seconds of silence before the hall detonates.

"You've lost your mind—"

"A Montgomery? A hunter's daughter as a Fenris mate?"

"This is a joke. Tell me this is a joke."

"ORDER." Thalia's voice cuts through the chaos with Luna authority that silences even the loudest objections. "Let him speak. Every wolf here will have their say, but first you will hear him out."

The noise subsides into furious murmuring. I wait until even that fades.

"I claim her publicly, before this pack, staking my honor and my position on her loyalty. My wolf recognized her the day we met. She is human, yes. She carries the Montgomery name, but she has proven her commitment to Silvermoon in ways that most of you standing in this hall have never been asked to."

"How?" A patrol leader named Garrett steps forward. "By existing inside our walls while her family attacks us or having access to our intelligence while hunters probe our defenses?"

"By providing the counter-intelligence that will end this siege!" I let that land.

"Or, she's feeding us disinformation designed to draw our defenses out of position," Garrett counters.

"Classic infiltration doctrine—provide valuable intelligence to build trust, then deliver the killing blow when defenses are weakest."

"I've reviewed it personally," Thalia steps forward. "Cross-referenced it against our own observations, intercepted communications, and tactical patterns. It's legitimate. The level of detail and internal consistency would be impossible to fabricate without intimate operational knowledge."

"That's exactly the problem." Magnus's voice carries from the back of the hall, and wolves part to let the former Alpha through.

He moves slowly, age showing in joints that creak, but his presence still commands attention.

"My son stands before you claiming a woman whose family has killed more wolves in the last century than any disease or natural disaster combined. Their blood carries the legacy of our destruction."

"Her blood doesn't define her choices, Father."

"It always does. It's the foundation everything else is built on."

Magnus faces the assembly.

"I love my son. I respect his courage and his conviction. But courage without wisdom is recklessness, and claiming a Montgomery as mate during active conflict with her clan is the most reckless act of leadership I've witnessed in my years of pack service."

"With respect, Alpha Magnus," Caroline's voice rings clear across the hall, "your years of service were spent fighting an enemy you refused to understand."

The hall goes still. A human woman just challenged the former Alpha's legacy in front of his own pack.

“My father's files contain communications between the Montgomery clan and Silvermoon dating back decades—overtures for dialogue that were rejected without consideration. Opportunities for peace that your generation dismissed because hating was easier than negotiating."

Magnus stares at her with an expression I can't read. "You have your father's nerve, I'll grant you that."

"I have his strategic mind and analytical training. The difference is I'm pointing those tools at his organization instead of yours," she doesn't blink. "Judge me by my actions, Alpha Magnus, not by whose DNA I carry."

"Your actions include embedding yourself inside our compound during the worst assault in pack history—"

Her voice doesn't waver: "What have your objections produced except delay?"

Murmuring ripples through the hall.

Some wolves exchange surprised glances—the Montgomery woman has teeth, and she's not afraid to use them.

Others harden further, the challenge to Magnus confirming their suspicion that she's dangerous in ways that go beyond bloodline.

"I call for a show of faith," I reclaim the platform. "I'm not asking permission to love the woman my wolf chose, but I'm asking this pack to give her the chance to prove through action what words alone can't establish. She's delivered intelligence, so let us use it. When the assault comes—and it will come—judge her then."

"And if she betrays us during the assault?" Garrett asks. "If her data is a trap?"

"I bear responsibility for every death. My judgment, my consequences."

The hall fractures. Wolves who've served with me nod with cautious acceptance. Magnus's faction glares with open hostility. The largest group watches with suspended judgment, waiting for evidence.

"She's given us intelligence that will save lives," I say into the charged silence. "What more proof do you need?"

The answer lives in their faces—Garrett's rigid jaw, the elders' suspicious eyes, patrol leaders whose friends died in ambushes they're not convinced Caroline didn't facilitate.

Nothing she does will ever be enough for some of them. The Montgomery name is a wall that no sacrifice will breach, and those wolves have already decided that blood condemns regardless of choice.

The pack is divided. The line is drawn. Caroline stands beside me, hand in mine, chin raised against the hostility from half the room.

My wolf howls inside my chest—not distress but defiance. When the assault comes, Caroline will stand with Silvermoon, and the wolves who judged her by her surname will reckon with the woman who burned her heritage to protect them.

Until then, we wait. And the line I've drawn cuts through the heart of a pack that can't afford to be fractured but has no choice except to be.
