Who's My Triplet's Alpha Daddy?

Chapter 117

Ch. 117 / 245 Apr 30, 2026

Thalia’s POV

I reach the hallway in wolf form and the first thing I see is blood.

A pool, spreading beneath my husband's motionless body while Phoenix kneels over him pressing both hands against his chest with strength that's bending the floorboards.

Luna stands frozen, her empathic senses drowning. Orion has torn a strip from his bedsheet and is packing the wound around his sister's hands with methodical calm.

I shift back. Kieran's eyes are closed and his skin is the color of ash.

"How long has he been unconscious?"

"Maybe two minutes," Orion's voice is flat. "The blade entered below his left collarbone… I worry about him, Mommy! Is Daddy gonna be okay?"

"The blade is still in him," Phoenix's voice shakes. "I didn't pull it out because you said never to remove an impaled object, Mommy—"

"You did exactly right. Keep pressure around it, just like you're doing."

"He jumped in front of it," she's crying so hard her words blur. "The man was coming for me and Daddy stepped in front and it went into his chest and he told me he'd keep me safe—"

"I know. I need you to breathe for me. Can you do that?"

"Is he going to die?"

"No, baby. But we need to get him to Elara."

Phoenix's jaw sets through her tears— soaked in her father's blood, channeling grief into the strength the hunters came to exterminate. She sits near Kieran with a gentleness, waiting for more help to come.

Lysander and Caroline appear at the end of the hallway, and she drops to her knees beside us.

"What can I do?"

"Pressure on the wound. Both hands, firm and steady. Don't touch the blade."

"I know basic field medicine," she replaces Phoenix's hands with her own. "The compound on the blade—is it the same formulation they used in the dart?"

"Concentrated version, probably designed for lethal effect on a child."

Elara meets us at the medical wing with her team assembled. They transfer Kieran to the surgical table with practiced efficiency, hands moving with the urgent choreography of healers who've had too much practice this week.

"Blade removal first," Elara's hands glow with supernatural healing as she assesses the wound. "I need to identify the compound. Caroline, anything you have in files on chemical specifications?"

"I can pull them up in ten minutes if someone gives me a terminal."

"Do it. Lysander, take her."

The blade slides free with a wet, sucking sound that makes my stomach revolt. Elara packs the wound and begins flushing the chemical from his bloodstream.

"How bad?" I ask.

"The physical wound I can manage. Missed the lung by a centimeter and the subclavian artery by less. Alpha has the luck of the damned."

She pauses. "The compound is another matter."

"Tell me."

"The first dose was catastrophic enough, but this one, concentrated and delivered directly into major vessels, has reinforced every bit of that damage."

Her eyes meet mine. "There's nothing left to heal. The pathways connecting him to his wolf have been cauterized at the cellular level. Scar tissue where living connections used to be."

"Can you reverse it? Gene therapy, supernatural intervention—"

"Every avenue leads to the same conclusion. The wolf is gone, Thalia, permanently."

"And the mate bond?"

"Same. The pathways can't regenerate, I'm sorry."

I stand holding my husband's limp hand, and the absence that greets me is familiar now—an old ache instead of a fresh wound. But knowing it's permanent—no miracle waiting, no healer who might crack the code—that's grief without an expiration date.

Caroline returns with chemical schematics from her father's files. She hands the tablet to Elara, then stands beside Lysander in the doorway.

"Thanks for your help" I tell her. "You didn't have to."

"Your Alpha is the brother of the man I love. Of course I had to."

Hours pass. Healers finish their work and withdraw, leaving Kieran stabilized and sleeping. I send the children to Lysander to stay with my husband as long as I can.

He wakes near midnight. Eyes open slowly, unfocused, and when they find me there's a blankness I've never seen—the complete absence of the recognition that the bond used to provide.

He's looking at me the way a stranger would look at a woman sitting beside their hospital bed. Someone familiar, maybe. Someone he knows he should feel something for but can't locate the feeling.

"Thalia," his voice is hoarse. "The kids. Are they—"

"Safe. All three, because of you. We carried you to the medical wing fast."

Silence stretches. I take his hand, thread my fingers through his. He doesn't squeeze back.

"I can't feel you anymore," the words come out broken. "Not through the bond, not through the wolf, not through whatever part of me used to know you were mine without looking."

"Kieran—"

"The first time, I thought it was temporary. Told myself the healers would find something, that the wolf was dormant, that eventually I'd feel you again." His eyes find the ceiling. "Now there's nothing left to hope for."

"You saved our daughter. You stood in that hallway without your wolf and fought three armed men and took a blade to the chest for her. That's the bravest thing I've ever witnessed."

"Brave is what people call you when you're too weak to do something effective."

His voice goes hollow. "I was able to protect all of you. Now I can barely protect one child from one threat, and even that requires getting stabbed."

"You're alive. Everything else we figure out together."

"Together…" He repeats the word like he's testing whether it still means anything. "You'll have to teach me what that looks like without the bond to guide us. I don't know how to be married to you as just a man, Thalia."

I press his hand to my lips, breathing against his knuckles, refusing to let go even though he can't feel what I'm offering.

"We learn," I whisper, "starting right now, with this—me and you there, and neither of us leaving until morning."

His fingers twitch in mine. The smallest movement—an acknowledgment that somewhere inside the wreckage, he's trying.

Outside, the compound settles into the exhausted quiet that always follows violence. Inside, I hold vigil over a marriage that's lost its supernatural foundation, betting everything on the stubborn hope that human love is strong enough to carry what remains.
