Lea's POV
Jake's lips moved from mine to my neck, sending shivers down my spine. His hand was still on my belly, feeling the baby move, and I could see the awe in his eyes. I took a deep breath, ready to tell him the truth.
"Jake, there's something you need to know," I began, my voice trembling with anticipation. But just as I was about to speak, the door burst open.
"Jake!" Rosa's shrill voice cut through the room like a knife.
I stiffened, my heart racing. Rosa stood in the doorway, her eyes blazing with anger. Jake's expression darkened, his grip on me tightening protectively."What the hell are you doing here, Rosa?" he snapped, his voice low and dangerous.
"I could ask you the same thing," she retorted, her gaze shifting to me. "Jake, being with her is going to ruin your career. You know that."
I felt a pang of discomfort, shrinking back against the pillows. "Jake, maybe she has a point," I started, but he cut me off.
"Shut up, Rosa," he spat, glaring at her. "You don't get to waltz in here and tell me how to live my life."
Rosa smirked, her eyes flicking between me and Jake. "Oh, really? Well, maybe you should know something, Jake." She paused, relishing the tension in the room. "I'm pregnant with your child."
Jake's face went white, his hand falling away from my belly. "What?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.
"That's right," Rosa said, her tone dripping with malice. "Remember that night a few months ago? You were so drunk, Jake, after the party at your place when Lea had caught us red handed? "
I felt like I'd been punched in the gut.The memories coming back with more impact than the accident had on my body. Where I almost lost my child Tears streamed down my face as I looked at Jake, searching for any sign that this was some sick joke. But he looked just as shocked as I felt.Rosa continued, her voice low and sultry. "You were all over me, Jake. You couldn't keep your hands off me. I didn't think you had it in you to be so... passionate."
Jake's eyes flickered with confusion and anger. "Rosa, what the hell are you talking about?"
She smiled, a wicked glint in her eyes. "We spent the entire night together. You remember, don't you? The way you kissed me, touched me. You couldn't get enough. And neither could I." She moved closer and I curled my toes in disgust.
"And then the other night just a couple of days ago...You remember that night, Jake? You could barely stand. You came to my place, stumbling through the door. You grabbed me, Jake. Pulled me close and kissed me like you were starving. You said you couldn't stop thinking about me, about how much you wanted me.We didn't even make it to the bedroom at first. You pushed me up against the wall, your hands everywhere. You were so desperate, so hungry. I could feel how much you needed me.When we finally made it to the bedroom, you were all over me. You whispered things in my ear, things you'd never said before. You couldn't get enough, Jake. You were relentless." She licked her lips ," I remember every moment, Jake. Every touch, every kiss. And now I'm carrying your child. Our child. You can't just walk away from that."
Jake turned towards me, "Lea, I..." he started, but I couldn't bear to hear it.I was trembling, grabbing onto my bedsheet to stabilize myself. But the machines beeped so wild it gave me away.
"Get out," I choked, my voice breaking. "Both of you. Get out."
Jake turned to Rosa, fury blazing in his eyes. "We need to talk. Now," he growled, grabbing her arm and dragging her out of the room as the nurses rushed to my side.
As they left, I heard Rosa's mocking laughter echo down the hallway. The nurses fussed over me, checking my vitals, but their concerned whispers barely registered.
I was left alone, my heart shattered into a million pieces. The room felt cold and empty without Jake, and I hugged myself, trying to hold it together. How could this happen? How could everything fall apart so quickly when it just seemed like everything was falling into pieces? Was he gone forever? My Jake? Lost?
Tears blurred my vision as I thought about the future, the baby, and the man I loved who was now tangled up with another woman. I didn't know how we were going to fix this, or if it was even possible.
A nurse gently squeezed my hand, her eyes filled with sympathy. "It'll be alright, dear. Just try to rest."
Rest. How could I rest when my world was collapsing around me? The truth I had been about to reveal to Jake seemed pointless now.
All I knew was that I felt more alone than ever.So alone that I wished I ceased to exist anymore.
