Chapter 52 My Jake

Ch. 52 / 115 Dec 18, 2024

Lea's POV

I was prepared to completely lose Jake and was whimpering, my head over my knees though o could barely fit my belly between my head and my knees. It was getting too frustrating when a pair of hands hugged me from the back. I knew exactly who it was but didn't move because it felt so good.Too good. All I wanted to do was relish in that feeling. I was tired. Tired of crying, tired of worrying, tired of running, I could feel it.

"Lea," Jake's voice was soft, filled with an emotion I couldn't quite understand. It was somewhere between grief, relief and agitation.

I didn't respond. I couldn't. I just kept crying, the pain too overwhelming.

Jake tightened his hold on me, resting his chin on my shoulder. "I'm back. Are you not even going to look at me?Do you hate me that much? " he murmured.I finally looked up, my vision blurred by tears. He smiled at me, a small, reassuring smile. "Lea, look at me."

I did, but then my eyes darted to the door, expecting Rosa to walk back in at any moment. "Where's Rosa?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper, pretty much shaking.

"She's gone," Jake said firmly, pulling my chin towards him so I was looking into his eyes. "For good."

I shook my head, my heart still pounding with fear and anger all in a furious hotchpotch. "But... what about the preg...I.mean the baby she was talking about?"

Jake sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Lea, there's something you need to know."

I braced myself, my heart racing. "What is it, Jake?" I asked even though I didn't want to hear it. I knew the answer. I knew exactly what he was about to confess. I could read it in his face. I didn't want it in words. I preferred it to stay hidden.

He took a deep breath. "I did sleep with Rosa a couple of days ago. I was mad and confused, thinking about you and Phill and the child. I was drunk. I almost did drugs. I made a mistake. A huge one. But Lea, listen to me," he said, his voice urgent, panicked as he cupped my face tenderly and made me look right in his eyes.

It was working, whatever he was doing. He hadn't uttered his next words but I was already melting.I grabbed onto the pillow beside me to steady my beating heart as much as was possible." That woman sleeps around with everyone.I won't believe a single word until I get a proper test and sort out other things. It's too early for her to know.Anyways, I'm not running from my responsibility. I will see if it's authentic and I am liable. But even if it's true," It was as if time froze. He grabbed onto my cheeks tighter as if afraid I might slip, "you're on top of every list, Lea. I can't live without you. It's too tiring, pretending I can."

I felt like my heart had stopped. I couldn't find my voice. Not even a whisper. My insides were shaking with disbelief and hurt hearing what he said even though I already knew it.It was a very very different thing hearing him say what he did."Lea, I know I messed up. But I need you to understand that it meant nothing. It was a mistake. I was angry and hurt. And while I am at it, I want to clarify what happened that day...when you had an accident. When you saw...whatever you saw. I swear,Lea I don't remember anything.I was completely wasted. All I remembered was seeing your face. I swear....you have to believe me. ”

I pulled away from him a little, trying to process his words.I still couldn't say anything but he continued bashing himself.

"I was an idiot," he admitted, his eyes filled with regret. "I was stupid and reckless. But Lea, please, give me a chance to make it right. I can't lose you. I won't lose you.Damn it.I love you."

Tears streamed down my face. "Jake..."

He took my hands in his, his grip firm. " I swear, Lea, I'm done with the lies and the mistakes and all the misunderstanding. I need you. You're the only one I want. I'll do whatever it takes to prove it to you.I don't want to remember anything apart from your love. I need you, girl."

"Jake, I..." I started, my voice breaking.

"Please, Lea. Let me make it right. For us. For what we had...have," he pleaded, his eyes desperate.

I looked into his eyes, searching for any sign of deceit. But all I saw was sincerity and regret. "Alright, Jake.We.can try. "Jake nodded, pulling me into his arms. "Thank you, Lea. I promise, I won't let you down."

I rested my head against his chest, feeling his heartbeat. "I love you, Jake. But what about your career? How are you going to explain this situation to your agency and managers? "

"I know," he said softly. "It will be a tough job. But nothing is impossible if we put enough effort and faith into it. And I'll be here, every step of the way. I'm not going anywhere."

We sat there, holding each other, letting the reality of the situation sink in. Despite everything, we were together. And as long as we had each other, we could face anything."Now," Jake said, his voice lighter as he played with my hair, "how about we focus on the baby? We've got a lot to look forward to."

I nodded, feeling a sense of peace for the first time in what felt like forever. "Yeah, let's do that."

Jake smiled, his eyes filled with nothing but love ,overflowing. "We’ll get through this, Lea. I promise."

As we sat in silence, smiling at each other and finding a rare moment of peace, we heard some commotion outside the room. At first, we ignored it, too wrapped up in the solace of being together again.

But the noise grew louder, more chaotic. The sound of raised voices and hurried footsteps filled the corridor. I glanced at Jake."What's going on out there?" I asked, my voice tinged with worry.

Jake frowned, straining to hear. "No idea. Probably nothing.Just ignore it. "Right at that moment, the door burst open and a nurse came running in, her face absolutely flushed . "Mr! You need to leave. The media is outside, and they're looking for you. It's getting out of hand!"

Jake's expression darkened. "What the hell? How'd they find out I was here?"The nurse shook her head, her voice rising with panic. "I don't know, but it's a madhouse out there. Cameras, reporters, everyone. They’re causing a scene. Security’s trying to handle it, but it's getting crazy.”
