Violet worked for Damien for about six months, before he started trusting her with a lot of things which were job related of course.
He couldn't possibly let down his guard where his heart was concerned. He admitted that the men who had come close to her in the past months had got him feeling very angry but he just did not want to investigate the reason for the anger further because it really didn't matter.
It didn't matter or was he afraid of what he might find out? He thought, It could not be jealousy. He could not be jealous of Steve, no matter what it was that he was doing with her and he had known that Clark was a hopeless flirt, but he behaved himself reasonably well where Violet was and the reason for that could only mean that he cared what Violet thought about him and when a man cared what a woman thought of him, then he was smitten.
One day, he needed to meet up with a deadline and worked late and did not know that Violet was also in the office trying to finish up with something to make the work load lighter the next day. She felt tired and felt she should go home and finish up the next day but she had made up her mind to finish she typing all that had been dictated to her earlier. She didn't have a date and was just going to go to bed when she got home. But she was tired and just wanted to rest her head a little so that her aching eyes could rest. She placed her head on her desk and closed her eyes to relief it a little before continuing and then going home.
He stretched thinking that he was the only one in the office. He opened her door and found Violet resting her head on her table, her PC open in front of her. He was shocked and looked at her. She had turned her face from facing down to facing her side and Damien watched her while she slept. She looked so innocent like a baby. But she was no baby and neither was she innocent. She had been going out with Steve and for him to remain entranced meant that something was keeping him this and what else could it be if not being intimate with Violet?
He felt the familiar anger rising in him again when his eyes fell on her neck, we hich was as graceful as that of a peacock and lower down, he saw her lacy bra and the pale breast being exposed as she moved her hands. She must have unbuttoned her shirt while she was typing to get more more comfortable.
Damien wanted to look aware but he stood there transfixed, staring at her and found that his body had come to life. It had been a while since he had a woman. He had not had interest in being a woman for some time lately. That could be the reason e was reacting this way over the sight of a little exposed skin.
He had seen more female skin exposed and had hardly reacted this way except with Corrine of course but that was in the past.
He was surprised that he had not thought about her and his brother for a long while.
Violet woke with a jerk, most probably because she heard a sharp intake of breath. She jumped to her feet when she saw Damien in the same room with her. I must have fallen asleep, she thought in panic, seeing how dark his eyes had become with desire. His grey eyes which could be icy was deep and dark now.
He rarely stayed too long in her office. If he wanted to dictate something or assign a duty to her, she was always called into his office.
As she jumped to her feet, she tripped on a pen lying on the floor and staggered and might have fallen but Damien caught her with his very fast reflexes. It was like a spark went through him and seeing the shock in her eyes, he felt sure she felt the spark as well. They quickly let go of each other in shock and Violet was dazed and would have fallen again but he caught her once more, this time more reluctantly. He was afraid of feeling that electricity from her touch again. But he did catch her and looked into her eyes and saw her look at him with shock again and then down at herself. He followed her gaze and found his hand holding her breasts. He jerked his hand away, steadied her on her feet.
'I'm sorry. It was not intentional ', he said looking at her in embarrassment.
Violet was sure it was an accident but it did not reduce the shock she felt at what had happened.
'It's okay. I'm sure it was not. Thanks for saving me from falling', she said sounding very shaken though she had tried to sound calm but failed miserably.
She started packing her things in a hurry and wondered how long she had been asleep. It was getting dark. And what was he still doing in the office anyway? She wondered. He normally didn't stay as late as this before, as far as she could tell, since she started working for him, he always left before her except of course, if he came back when others had left but she didn't think so.
'I have to go home, now', she said.
He nodded. He had come out to get something but for the life of him, he couldn't remember what it was.
'I shall be on my way as well. Let me drop you off at your house. It might be hard getting a cab at this time', he offered.
Violet would have accepted, afterall, they had become civil and polite to each other for a while now. Damien seemed to have changed a bit but with the events that just took place, she felt that she was better off away from him than being in any cosseted enclosure with him.
'Its okay. I shall make my own way home'.
'Don't be silly. It isn't as though I will eat you up', he said getting exasperated.
'I'm sure you won't but I'd rather go by myself. Thanks but no thanks'.
He wanted to say more but by this time she was through getting her bag ready and brushed past him with a curt, 'Good night'.
Damien watched her leave, feeling shaken and excited all at once. He felt wired. But he was sure Violet refused his offer to drive her home just because of what had occured and he felt responsible. He decided that he was going to follow her without her being aware, just to make sure she got home safe. He waited till she had gone down the stairs, then he picked his suit from the back of his chair where he had hung it, flung it on one shoulder, got his car keys out and went out of his office, out the building too, carrying his briefcase to where he parked his car reserved specially for him and got in.
