The One Night Stand Turns Out To Be My Professor

Ch. 173 / 187 Dec 06, 2025

Sophia’s POV

The grand ballroom of the vampire realm was breathtaking, every corner gleaming with the kind of elegance that only centuries of tradition could muster. Chandeliers hung from the vaulted ceiling, casting a soft, golden light over the room, while velvet drapes framed the windows, opening up to a view of the moonlit landscape outside. It was overwhelming. The entire place felt like something out of a storybook—ancient, timeless, and impossibly beautiful. And I was in the middle of it, wearing the most extravagant gown I’d ever seen in my life, about to marry the vampire king.

I glanced at Ian beside me. He looked regal, standing tall in his tailored suit, his presence commanding the attention of everyone in the room. His hand was warm in mine, grounding me amidst the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me. The council members sat in their designated places, their expressions neutral, though I could sense their keen observation. They were here in a formal capacity, but their presence meant more than that—it was a sign of support, an acknowledgment of our union and what it meant for the realm. But there was also something unspoken lingering in the air, a tension I couldn’t quite place.

I leaned toward Ian, whispering under my breath, “I still can’t believe we’re doing this here.”

His lips curved into a small smile, his eyes twinkling. “Neither can I. But it’s where we belong now, Sophia. And I’ll make sure it’s a future we can both live with.”

I squeezed his hand, my heart swelling with a mixture of love and nervousness. This was a world I had never truly belonged to, and now I was stepping into it as its queen. But as overwhelming as it all felt, with Ian by my side, I knew I could face whatever came our way. Even the council, with all their stern faces and formalities, couldn’t take that away from me.

The ceremony itself was short but meaningful, words of binding spoken in the ancient tongue of the vampire world, words that connected us in more ways than one. My vows, in contrast, felt simple—more human, but no less powerful.

“Ian,” I began, my voice shaking slightly as I gazed up at him, “we’ve been through so much together. You’ve shown me a world I never knew existed, and in it, I found you. I love you more than words can say, and I promise to stand by you, in this life and whatever comes after.”

Ian’s expression softened, and when he spoke, his voice was full of quiet strength. “Sophia, you’ve changed everything for me. I never thought I could love someone as deeply as I love you. And now, with you by my side, I feel like I can face anything. I promise to protect you, always. To love you, forever.”

A soft murmur spread through the crowd, and for a moment, everything seemed perfect. It was as if all the struggles, the dangers, and the fears had faded into the background, leaving only the two of us in this ancient, sacred space. The officiant completed the ceremony, and when he finally said, “You may kiss your bride,” Ian didn’t hesitate. He pulled me close, his lips brushing mine in a kiss that was both tender and full of promise.

The applause that followed was loud, echoing through the ballroom as our guests rose to their feet. I couldn’t help but smile as I turned to face them, feeling like we had just stepped into a new chapter of our lives, one filled with hope and possibility. The council members stood as well, their faces unreadable, but at least they were present. They were showing their approval, in their own way.

The reception that followed was grander than anything I’d ever imagined. Tables were laden with food and drink, the finest the realm had to offer, and the music that filled the air was enchanting, pulling everyone into its rhythm. Ian and I moved through the crowd, greeting our guests, accepting their congratulations.

Jenny was the first to reach me, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She pulled me into a hug, nearly knocking me off balance. “Oh my God, Sophia, you looked amazing! That dress! The whole thing was just… wow!”

I laughed, hugging her back. “Thanks, Jenny. I’m still trying to wrap my head around all of this.”

“Well, you better get used to it. You’re the queen now.” She gave me a playful nudge, her grin wide. “And you’ve got a kingdom to rule.”

I rolled my eyes, though her words struck a chord. This was real. I was part of this world now, in a way that went far beyond being Ian’s wife. It was a lot to take in.

Jacob appeared beside her, nodding his approval. “You guys did good. And the realm needed something like this. A fresh start.”

I glanced at Ian, who was deep in conversation with Mike and a few other council members across the room. His face was serious, though his eyes softened every time they met mine. “I hope so,” I said softly. “I really hope so.”

The night went on, and the celebration seemed to flow seamlessly. There was dancing, laughter, and for a while, it felt like the weight of everything that had been looming over us was gone. I danced with Ian, feeling his strong arms around me, the warmth of his presence grounding me in the midst of so much uncertainty. It was perfect, almost too perfect.

That’s when I felt it—the shift in the air, like a storm cloud gathering on the horizon. My skin prickled, and a strange unease settled in my chest. I pulled back slightly, looking up at Ian, my brow furrowing.

“Ian, do you feel that?”

He stilled, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the room. “Yes.”

Before I could ask what was happening, there was a loud crash. Glass shattered, and the air was filled with a sudden rush of chaos. Guests screamed, scrambling to move away from the source of the noise. My heart leaped into my throat as I turned toward the entrance, where a group of figures had burst into the ballroom, their movements swift and deliberate.

Vampires. But not just any vampires—rogue vampires, their eyes glowing with a fierce, wild hunger. They moved with deadly precision, cutting through the crowd, heading straight for us.

Ian’s grip on my arm tightened. “Get behind me.”

My breath caught as I obeyed, my mind racing. How had they gotten into the realm? And why now, of all times?

Ian’s eyes were locked on the intruders, his face a mask of cold fury. “Everyone, get back!” he shouted, his voice cutting through the panic.

The council members were already moving, their expressions grim as they stepped forward, ready to defend the realm. But the rogue vampires were fast, too fast, and within moments, the entire ballroom had erupted into chaos.

I felt Jenny grab my arm, her voice panicked. “Sophia, what’s happening?”

“I don’t know,” I whispered, my eyes wide as I watched the fight unfold. Vampires clashed, their movements a blur of speed and power, and the sound of metal meeting flesh filled the air.

Ian was at the center of it, his movements deadly as he fought off the attackers, but there were too many of them. My heart pounded in my chest, fear coursing through me.

“We need to get out of here,” Jenny said, her voice trembling.

I nodded, my mind spinning. But before we could move, one of the rogue vampires broke through the line of defenders, heading straight for us. My heart lurched, and for a moment, time seemed to slow. I could see the hunger in his eyes, the raw, animalistic need for blood.

I braced myself, but before he could reach us, Ian was there, his body a blur as he intercepted the vampire, throwing him back with a powerful blow.

“Run!” he shouted over his shoulder, his voice tight with strain.

But I couldn’t move. My legs were frozen in place, my mind unable to process the chaos around me. I watched as Ian turned back to the fight, his movements fluid and deadly.

And that’s when I realized—this was just the beginning.
