The Dark Don’s Punished Bride

Chapter 138

Ch. 138 / 150 Dec 04, 2025

Aria and Damian Officially Co-Lead the Syndicate Meeting

The chamber is darker than usual—low lights, steel shadows, tension thick enough to slice. For the first time, Aria does not stand behind Damian. She sits at his right. His Second. His equal. The room reacts instantly—stiff postures, narrowed eyes, whispers crawling under the table like rats—but Damian doesn’t look at them. He looks at her.

Aria begins the briefing.

Her voice is steady, cold, lethal. She outlines the Serpent Circle’s infiltration points, the attempted assassinations, the intercepted codes. Every man in the room listens despite himself. Damian leans back in his chair, jaw tight, watching her with a hunger he doesn’t bother to hide. Every sentence she speaks is a blade. Every fact she presents is a flex of power learned under his hand.

When she finishes, the room is silent.

Then a rival boss—Gregor Vance, old blood, old arrogance—laughs. Slow. Mocking.

He leans forward, eyes on Aria, dripping disdain.

“Impressive performance, girl,” he sneers. “Did Wolfe rehearse your lines for you?”

The table tenses. Guns shift. Even the air seems to freeze.

Aria tilts her head. Calm. Cold.

“No,” she says. “But I can rehearse your funeral if you’d like.”

A beat of silence.

The insult hits the room like a grenade.

Someone chokes on a laugh. Someone else curses under their breath. The tension spikes until it vibrates.

Gregor opens his mouth to bark back—

But Damian moves.

One step. Two.

He stands between Aria and the table, shoulders squared, voice low enough to chill bone.

“When she speaks,” Damian says, “you listen.”

Gregor shuts up so fast it echoes.

The entire council stares—because Damian Wolfe has never defended anyone like that. Never put anyone’s voice above the Syndicate’s. Never placed himself behind someone else’s power.

Aria feels his heat beside her. The silent claim in the way he stands. The warning in the way he looks at her enemies. She doesn’t need to look at him to know what that gaze contains: pride, fear, hunger, devotion, danger.

The council begins whispering.

Some in outrage.

Some in disbelief.

Some in fascination.

One name rises among the murmurs, half-spat, half-reverent:

The Collared Queen.

Aria hears it—but she doesn’t flinch.

Damian hears it too. His lips twitch into the kind of smirk that promises violence and prophecy.

They have no idea how accurate that title will become.
