The Alpha's Mate Who Cried Wolf

Chapter 178

Ch. 178 / 181 Nov 11, 2025

Alec comes to a halt and gently places me down. I sprint over to Magnus, my worry escalating as I observe blood on his leg.

'Shift,' I urge Magnus.

As he shifts back, the extent of the injury becomes evident. A bullet has pierced his arm, and he is bleeding heavily.

'I’ll be fine. We need to get back to Shadow Crest,' Magnus insists despite the pain.

'No, the bullet is still in there. It will heal quickly if I remove it,' I argue, my focus shifting to the wound.

Magnus sighs in defeat, and I waste no time digging two fingers inside the wound. He grits his teeth, masking the pain admirably. With precision, I extract the bullet, and over the next few minutes, the wound miraculously seals up and heals. A mixture of relief and gratitude wash over Magnus's face as he tests the healed injury.

We shift into our wolves and run towards Shadow Crest. Alec, Reaper, and Kadva are directly behind us. The early hours of the morning embrace us with a serene atmosphere when we finally arrive home.

Kadva, however, hesitates at the threshold of the packhouse with uncertainty. I can see the fear and longing in his eyes.

I shift back into my human form. ‘Kadva, you’re with us now. We want you to join our pack,’ I reassure him and nudge him gently.

His face brightens with a hesitant smile. 'You would truly welcome me into your pack. Even after I had kidnapped you?'

'You abducted me because you were forced to, but you never injured me, nor did you wish to hurt me,' I reply with a comforting smile. 'Come on, let us have breakfast together, and I'll introduce you to everyone.'

Kadva nods appreciatively and follows me into the packhouse.

The warm aroma of home-cooked breakfast wafts through the air. As we enter, the rest of the pack, including Yiselda, Fern, May, Lilac, Ela, and Ria, dash down the stairwell. The reunion is filled with hugs and tears, a shared acknowledgment of the loss of Pandora's Box.

‘I’m so sorry, Yiselda,’ I express with genuine sympathy.

‘It’s something I will have to learn to come to terms with, but I’m glad you are all safe and back home,’ she replies.

Yiselda then turns her attention to Alec, her expression a mix of surprise and gratitude. 'Alec, I'm at a loss for words. I was certain you'd kill the humans, but you didn't. You proved me wrong, and I want to express my gratitude.'

Alec nods in acknowledgment, his response held in contemplative silence.

'Who is this gorgeous gentleman!?' Lilac squeals, her eyes lighting up as she gazes at Kadva, who, in turn, finds his cheeks flushing under the attention of the witches.

‘Girls, this is Kadva. He is a mage and will be staying with us,’ I explain, giving him a welcoming smile.

The witches react excitedly, immediately swarming around Kadva, their hands flirtatiously exploring his arms, face, and chest. Kadva, clearly overwhelmed, shoots a desperate glance in my direction. 'Um, help?' he mutters.

'Girls, cut him some slack. He has only just arrived. I'm sure you'll all have plenty of opportunities to spend time with him, but for now, let's eat.' I guide the attention back to the breakfast table, taking my seat with a relieved smile to be back home.

Exhausted and with satisfied appetites, I glance at Kadva and Alec. 'We have more sleeping quarters upstairs. Follow me, and I'll allocate you your own rooms,’ I tell them.

I present Kadva with the first available room. 'This can be your room,' I offer with a warm smile.

'Thank you. It's a nice room. I wouldn't mind resting now while I can,' he expresses with exhaustion.

Turning my attention to Alec, I guide him to the room next to mine and Magnus's. 'You can sleep in this room,' I tell him, to which Alec responds with a perplexed look, 'Vampires don't sleep.'

‘Oh? Okay, so this may be the room that provides you with your own private space to have time alone?' I suggest gauging his preferences.

'This will be your room too?' he inquires, subtly hinting at a desire for our shared moments. I smile and nod, understanding his unspoken request.

Magnus suddenly takes my hand and leads me to our room. I wave goodnight to Alec. Magnus playfully lifts me and carries me to our bed; his eyes have darkened with desire. He covers me with sweet kisses before we make intimate love and finally fall into a peaceful and restful sleep.

I awaken later that night to the soft glow of moonlight seeping through the curtains. Magnus lies beside me, peacefully wrapped in the embrace of slumber. Deciding to embrace the tranquility of the night, I slip out of bed and take a leisurely shower. Once refreshed, I feel the call of the wild, the moon's enchanting glow beckoning me to shift and let my wolf roam freely. Reaper is perched on the moon tree, already in a state of rest. As I prepare to embark on a run, a comforting warmth envelops me, and I sense Alec's presence. He stands beside me, his fingers gently tracing the fur along my back as I turn to meet his gaze.

'You are a lovely wolf,' he murmurs, his touch creating a harmonious connection between us. Alec kneels, and I instinctively rest my head on his lap, savouring the tender pats he bestows upon me. 'May I join you on your run?' he asks, a soft plea in his voice.

I nod in agreement, and we dash through the dense woods together.

The thrill of the night air, the pounding of my paws on the ground, and the shared freedom create an exhilarating experience. Having Alec, my blood flame, by my side after years of captivity must bring him a profound sense of relief.

Reaching the mountain's summit, we pause for a moment of respite. Shifting back into my human form, I lie naked on the grass. Alec hovers over me, our eyes locking. Everything feels perfect in this moonlit haven. My hand reaches out to gently brush Alec's cheek, and he leans into the touch in response.

Drawing his face closer to mine, our lips meet in a tender kiss. The mountain, the moon, and our destinies converge in this perfect moment of unity as we make passionate love.
