The Alpha's Mate Who Cried Wolf

Chapter 177

Ch. 177 / 181 Nov 11, 2025

Suddenly, May mind-links me urgently. ‘Alpha, Pandora’s Box, it’s been destroyed. There's nothing left!’

‘What do you mean it’s gone?’ I mind-link back.

‘Yiselda returned home to grab a few items, and the entire Covenstead was up in flames. She managed to port all the animals and creatures to Silverfay Forest, but it was too late to save Pandora’s Box. We then found Hank nearby, attempting to flee the scene. He was the one who started the fire. Yiselda is completely distraught. She killed Hank for what he had done to her home.’

‘I’m sorry you all have lost your Covenstead. Yiselda is part of our pack. Our home is always her home, too,’ I mind-link back, my heart heavy for their loss.

Alec engages in a fierce battle with Alpha Amir, his movements a mesmerizing display of speed and precision. He seamlessly appears in front of Alpha Amir one moment, and then, in the blink of an eye, he's behind him, delivering swift kicks and punches with fluidity that makes it seem like he's not moving at all. The confrontation reaches its climax as Alpha Amir collapses in defeat, only to be swiftly torn apart by a pair of Grimghouls.

With Alpha Amir defeated, Alec releases the soldiers from his control. The Shadow Reapers materialise from the soldiers' throats and fuse with the remaining wolves loyal to Alpha Bennet. Chaos ensues as the wolves turn on each other, leaving the soldiers bewildered by the surreal scene of werewolves tearing into their own kind.

Nina dashes towards Kadva, wielding her wand with determination. 'Restraino Detainous!' she commands, and a purple wind encircles Kadva, lifting him off the ground and rendering his arms and legs immobile.

Approaching Kadva, Nina removes his hood, taking a step back in surprise at his unexpected appearance.

Nina P.O.V

Kadva's azure-blue eyes gleam like precious diamonds, framed by cascading snow-white hair gracefully accentuating his heart-shaped face. He exudes exquisite beauty. His youthful appearance also mirrors my age. My wand weaves through the air, severing the magical binds on Kadva.

Reaper gracefully descends, perching on my shoulder. 'Kadva, it's all over now. Alpha Bennet and the others are no longer alive,' I tell him.

Kadva scans the strewn bodies and seems surprised but relieved to see Alpha Bennet and Alpha Amir have met their demise.

A relieved laugh escapes Kadva. 'They're dead?'

'Yes, Kadva, the Wolf Council is no more,' I affirm. Inquisitively, I question his compliance with their orders. 'Why were you following their commands?'

Fear lingers in Kadva's eyes as he reveals, 'They threatened to expose me to the humans, divulging my location if I defied them. I couldn't risk being taken hostage or subjected to their experiments.' Kadva then places his hands on my head and utters an incantation, restoring my ability to mind-link.

'Alpha Bennet is no longer a threat to you. Do you have any friends or family?' I ask.

A solemn shake of his head accompanies his response. 'No, I don't have anyone.'

I swiftly communicate with Magnus and Alec through our mind-link. 'I think we should invite Kadva to join our pack. He was afraid Alpha Bennet would hand him over to the humans for experimentation. He's alone and needs a place to belong,' I convey.

Magnus and Alec share a meaningful glance before nodding in agreement.

'Kadva, you don't have to be alone anymore. Would you consider joining our pack?' I propose.

A sudden encirclement by soldiers disrupts us. 'Stand down!' a soldier commands.

Reacting swiftly, Alec materializes at my side, adopting a protective stance. 'She is not coming with you,' he hisses, his eyes ablaze with an intense determination. Grimghouls and Shadow Reapers assemble behind me, poised for conflict, ready to strike against the encroaching soldiers.

Magnus stands proudly beside me, his wolf form emitting a low growl aimed at the approaching troops. A reassuring touch on his head from me conveys a sense of control as I step forward, facing Alec. 'It's all right. I'll speak with them and try to defuse this situation,' I reassure, taking a step towards the soldier.

'Fine, but don’t get any closer to them,' Alec cautions, a protective tone underscoring his words, his worry evident in the furrow of his brow.

'My name is Nina, Luna of the Shadow Crest pack. I respectfully request that you lay down your firearms. We are not here to fight,' I proclaim, my voice carrying a blend of authority and earnestness.

Soldiers exchange perplexed glances before returning their focus to me. A soldier from the group steps forward, demanding answers. 'Who or what are you? How did you get here?' he shouts.

I hold my head high. 'I am half-werewolf and half-witch. Behind me stands Alec, the vampire king, and Magnus, the Alpha of Shadow Crest, and this is Kadva, a mage. We have been living here unnoticed and away from human society for thousands of years,' I explain, my gestures encompassing the figures behind me.

Shocked mutterings ripple through the soldiers at the revelation of our supernatural existence. 'The Wolf Council is responsible for the attack on your city, but they have now been eliminated. We hope to peacefully return to our territory and for you to return to yours,' I continue.

However, scepticism lingers among the soldiers. 'Those two were in the city, causing chaos and destruction along with those creatures!' a soldier points accusingly at the Grimghouls and Shadow Reapers.

'They didn't have a choice. They were forced into it,' I assert, appealing to their sense of reason.

'Lies! They attacked us once. They will attack us again,' another soldier shouts, triggering a sudden eruption of gunfire.

In an instant, Alec envelops me in his cloak, lifting me into his arms, and we vanish into the distance. Magnus follows in his wolf form, flanked by Kadva and Reaper. The grimghouls and shadow reapers act as a rearguard, slowing the soldiers down to buy us precious moments for escape.

I clutch Alec's shirt firmly, finding comfort in the warmth of his embrace, and lay my head on his chest. He responds with a tender kiss on my forehead, his expression radiating relief and happiness.

'It feels incredible to have you back in my arms,' Alec smiles.

'It’s good to be back in them and see you free of that dungeon,' I reply, a mixture of gratitude and contentment in my voice.

However, my moment of happiness is cut short as I peer over Alec's shoulder and notice Magnus struggling to keep up. Something is clearly wrong.

'Alec, please stop. Something is wrong with Magnus,' I urgently tell him.
