Kieran POV
I jump over the bar and head straight for Wesley. I don't bother glancing behind me. I know these rogues are no match for my fathers. They have taken on far more with much less at stake.
Wesley's bravery fades from his face, and he turns to run through the door that leads to the bar's backroom. He pushes the door open and races through. I pause. I don't know what is waiting for me on the other side of that door. It could be just Wesley, or it could be a whole shit show I am not prepared for. I do know one thing, and that is I cannot let him get away.
I turn to see my fathers wolves covered in blood on top of a pile of dead rogues. There are only five bodies. The rest must have run, but they aren't the target.
Quickly, I grab the shotgun off the bar and check the breech, it is loaded, but that only gives me one shot. "Here goes nothing," I say to no one in particular, but I hear my fathers wolves jumping on the bar behind me.
I kick the door open, and the sound of snarls fills my ears. Wesley is definitely not alone. I wait for the first one to approach the door, and I don't have to wait long. A long, gangly, rogue wolf jumps into my view.
He couldn't be more than a few years past eighteen. His wolf is clearly still green. He is snarling, but I can see the fear in his eyes. He doesn't want to be a part of this fight. It would be a pity to waste my single shot on him.
"Run," I say through gritted teeth.
The rogue cocks his head to the side and whimpers. He is afraid to turn his back on me.
"Run," I shout loud enough for anyone in the back room to hear.
"Don't do it, Jack," Wesley's voice calls from behind him. "It is a trap. The Great Alpha Kieran would never leave survivors."
"Fuck you, Wesley," I yell over the young wolf. "Let the kid go. He has nothing to do with this. This is between me and you."
Jack paws at the ground nervously, but he doesn't move out of the way. I point the gun at his head, and he whines loudly.
"I thought I told you to run," I remind him.
Jack looks over his shoulder at Wesley and runs for the front door. He zooms around the bar and my fathers, not daring to look back. My fathers voices chuckle in my mind as they watch the young wolf struggle to get out of the front door.
The sound of boxes falling over turns my attention to the back room. I kick the door open again to find Wesley attempting to climb out of a high window. He is hanging half in and half out.
Barging into the room, I see movement out of the corner of my eye. I point the shotgun in the direction and pull the trigger. Wesley squeals like a coward and tries to scramble out of the window faster, but he is stuck.
"You fucking fat ass," I growl as I grab him by the back of his pants and yank him to the floor.
He hits the ground, and his face immediately goes white. His eyes are fixated on the far corner of the room. Turning my head in the direction, I see a rogue trying to pick up pieces of his intestines off the floor. Blood is running down his pants and pooling onto the floor beneath his feet.
"He was my fucking brother," Wesley growls at me.
"He's not dead yet," I tell him. "Better go say goodbye."
The rogue drops to his knees and then face plants onto the concrete floor. A yelp comes from his lips just as he takes his last breath.
Wesley tries to crawl across the floor to his brother's body, but I step in front of him. "Too late," I shrug my shoulders.
Wesley growls loudly at me and then shifts into his light brown wolf. He lunges at me before I have a chance to shift. I lose balance and fall back into the puddle of blood on the floor. Wesley's wolf pins me to the ground with his paws
Father's wolf, Azul, is quick to jump in, but I shake my head. "This is my fight," I say through gritted teeth.
Azul respectfully backs away, but he is not happy about it. Papa's wolf, Cyan, is growling loudly, but he is also keeping his distance from the fight. They both know this is something that I have to do.
Wesley's wolf curls his claws into my shoulders and I can feel them piercing my skin. I don't show the pain on my face, but my teeth are grinding together painfully.
'Let me out,' Karr demands.
I don't have to be asked twice. My claws extend from my fingers and grab Wesley's front paws. I slice deeply into his legs, severing his tendons. Blood quirts from his legs, and he collapses under his weight.
As he falls on top of me, he tries to bite at my face, but I grab his muzzle with one hand and hold it shut. He whimpers loudly as I push him off my body.
He rolls awkwardly onto the floor and tries to get away, but his front legs are no longer working. The wounds are not deadly, but they will take some time to heal.
I get to my feet and wipe Wesley's blood from my hands. Looming over his wolf's body, I debate on killing him or taking him back to the pack to live out the rest of his life in the dungeons.
"You are pathetic," I laugh as I look down on him. "You had the chance to kill me, and you missed your opportunity."
Wesley's body begins to contort grotesquely. The fur on his body disappears, and his naked human body lies on the floor. He holds his wrists close to his chest, and his body is shaking with shock.
"If you kill me," he breathes out. "Someone else will take my place. We won't stop until you and your sister are wiped from this world."
I place my foot on his chest and press down as I hold one of my claws to his throat. "And I will kill that one and the next one."
"Francesca will never stop," Wesley groans under my weight.
I throw my head back and laugh sarcastically. "Francesca is dead. Her body has been washed out to sea by now."
"Impossible," Wesley whimpers.
"Why don't I send you to meet her?" I snarl.
Swiping my claw across Welsey's neck, a gurgling sound comes from his throat. He is choking on his own blood. He coughs, and blood spews from his mouth. I know he won't survive this, but I don't really care to watch him die. I want to get home to my mate.
I head for the door and see that my fathers have already shifted back. They are waiting for me along with the bartender. The bartender is standing with his hands on his hips looking at the mess and destruction.
"Bill me for the damages," I tell him as I walk out of the bar. "I'm good for it."
I head out of the bar and head toward my car. The setting sun is in my eyes but I can see the trunk of my car is wide open.
"Fuck!" I growl as I run to my car.
I check the trunk and it is empty. I grab the hood of the trunk and slam it down, but it bounces back up. It is broken. Someone set Tish free.
