Olivia Blake
I gulped. Whatever he'd just said, he meant, and I feared he knew more than he was letting on to. The real question though, how he'd found out about my playdates with Johnathan between the time we fell asleep and I came down the stairs.
He had been outside, was soaking wet, but that still made no sense in conjunction to my long standing crush on his Beta.
“Oh!” The cook stopped dead in her tracks and I swept my arm up to cover my bare chest.
Blushing, I apologized and hurried from the kitchen, running up the stairs and into the bedroom. He'd just finished slipping a dress shirt over his shoulders and it hung off his muscles in a godly way. His paused position upon my entrance had me blushing and I rushed to my dresser.
“Olivia?”
“You threw out my shirt!”
He chuckled as I searched the drawer and found a tank top and light sweater to put on. I felt him walk behind me but he kept on to his closet.
Peeping over my shoulder, I watched him tuck his shirt into his dark pants and fastening his belt around his waist. God, he was hot...
In a slow step, I crept forward enough to continue watching him.
“What is it, Olivia?” He hadn't even looked up, yet he'd known I was staring.
I felt now was the opportune time to question him on what he said downstairs. “How'd you know about Johnathan?”
He stepped out of his closet with a nice pair of boots in hand and headed towards the door. “We're going to be late, we'll talk on the way.”
“Err....” I snatched my purse and followed his lead. “I didn't eat breakfast.”
He stopped in the hallway at the bottom of the stairs and collected his keys off a near side table. “Go grab something, I'll warm the truck up. It's a bit cold and chilly today.”
I swung my bag over my shoulder and walked back into the kitchen, feeling my face heat as I came face to face with the cook again. “H-hi...”
“Would you like an egg sandwich, Luna?”
“Oh, ah...”
She handed me two wrapped and prepared items. “One for Alpha Wyler. He hasn't ate yet either.”
“Thank you,” I whispered, snatching up the food and spinning away from her to leave. “Wait...” I turned back to face her. “You can call me Olivia. That's my name.”
She gave me a soft smile. “Have a good day, Miss Olivia.”
“You too.” I left this time, jogging for the door and slipping on the pair of converse I'd worn the day before. I rushed out towards his idling truck and got in the passenger side, a bit wet from my run to the vehicle.
“Yes, I'll see you soon,” he said softly into his cell phone.
I slowed the motion of my seat belt to try and hear who was on the other end, not that I would have known anyway.
“Bye.” He hung up the call and put his phone onto the console. “Ready to go?”
I nodded, unwrapping my food and handing him one. “The cook made us these.”
“Nice of her.” He took the food, backing the truck out of the driveway. It was a brand new vehicle, sleek with it's leather finishes and touch screen. He fit it perfectly too, all dressed up and I wondered why...
“You said we'd talk on the way.” I took another bite.
He unwrapped his food once on the highway. “You were moaning his name in your sleep while you dry humped me.”
I coughed from inhaling a piece of bread. “I did what?”
“Moaned Johnathan's name. Several times.” He gave me a glance. “Are you okay?”
“I swallowed wrong.” I coughed again and he offered me some water from the drink holder between us.
I took it, snapping the lid off and drinking the clean tasting bottled water.
He didn't say much as he ate and I couldn't gauge if he was angry about what I'd done in my sleep or if he'd already let it go.
“I had a small crush on him.”
“Had or have?”
“Had.” I snarked and he gave me a look of disapproval. quickly I turned my eyes off him.
“Why would you have been moaning his name like that then, if it's done with?”
I sighed, unsure if I should be honest with him but I knew he'd push for it either way so I had little choice. “We were really good friends. So good, we thought we would be mates. We figured our natural connection as childhood buddies would turn into something more. On my sixteenth birthday he showed up and we both expected the mating instincts but we looked at one another and there was nothing.”
He grunted. “How disappointing.”
“After that, we'd hang out, sometimes smoke a bit too much weed and mess around but – it all stopped when he found Katie. I hated her, for a long time...”
He finished his sandwich. “I understand how that could be upsetting, but you were clearly made for greater things.”
“Greater things meaning you?”
“Meaning Luna,” he corrected.
I snorted, slumping my shoulders into the leather.
“Olivia, what exactly were your plans after you graduate in a month?”
“I had many, many plans, thank you.”
He gave me one of his looks again. I just couldn't help my natural snark and he really brought it out in me. “Which were?”
“Travelling, maybe college, I dunno.”
“We can travel together.”
I stifled a snort. “You're not any fun.”
He tapped the steering wheel. “You seemed to have fun this morning with me.”
“Yeah, until you left me without a shirt in front of the cook!”
He smirked. “Sorry.”
“You're not sorry.” I held the need to lash out and hit him. I had plans on being at school today so I could complain to Sarah about how god awful Alpha Wyler was – and I was pretty sure hitting him would result in servicing him all day. “Who even does that stuff when there's others around anyway? You don't seem to give a crap if they walk in on us.”
“It's my house. I can do as I please.”
“Is that how you see Silvermoon? Doing with it what you please?”
“Don't question my business. You're not in any position and what do you even know about what I plan for Silvermoon? All you do is whine about how inconvenient our relationship is to your need to run off and smoke pot.”
“You're such an asshole,” I chirped now that he was pulling the truck into the drop off at my school.
“That right?” He stopped the vehicle.
“Yep, that's right.”
“When are you done?” He changed the subject.
“Around four,” I shrugged a shoulder, lying my ass off.
He narrowed his eyes and saw through me. “I'll call the office and confirm.”
“I'm done at two fifteen!” I snapped.
“Good. Have a nice day.”
“Yeah, you too...” Rolling my eyes, I exited the truck.
“And Olivia,” he said before I got away. “Don't lie to me again.”
Our eyes fused as my anger budded and I slammed the door, trudging away and not looking back. So focused on rejecting the pull I had to run back to him, I headed dead straight for the doors and right into Sara.
“There you are!” She grabbed my shoulders and I snapped out of my fury and heartache.
“Hey...”
“Not hey!” She shook her head, pulling me into the building. “What's going on?”
“Uh--” I lowered my voice. “I'm beefcakes mate? Did you miss the memo?”
“No, we all know that. I mean with Johnathan.”
“Oh my god!” I exclaimed. “Did Wyler like, put it on twitter or some shit?”
My outburst had startled her and she stepped back with a few blinks. “Olivia, he stripped Johnathan of Beta this morning. No one knows why... Johnathan won't say a word to anyone! He's got twenty-four hours to leave Silvermoon.”
I'd felt many forms of anger in my life, but never this kind. Never a blood curdling, seeing red sort of anger and it was all directed toward my arrogant mate!
