The next morning, Emily and her four kids gathered around the dining table for breakfast with Emma.
After nearly finishing their meal, Emily spoke up, "Yesterday, I received a call from abroad."
Emma set down her chopsticks, asking, "Was the call about something important?"
Emily nodded, "Yes. When I came back with Chris and Diana, I was in a hurry, and some formalities were left incomplete. They called to ask me to go over and complete the final paperwork. So, I want to take Chris and Diana on a trip out of the country."
Emma furrowed her brow, questioning, "Do you have to go in person?"
Emily smiled, "Yes. Plus, my friends abroad helped me a lot during that time, so I thought I'd visit them as well."
Emma expressed her disapproval, "Chris and Diana are still young; it's too much trouble to go abroad, and adapting to a new environment can lead to sickness..."
"Grandma, my sister and I have lived abroad for many years, and we want to go back and visit," Chris said cheerfully. "We planted a tree at the back of the house, and I want to see if it's still alive."
Diana added, "I even carved a bunny into the tree."
"Really?" Aaron asked curiously. "I'd love to go abroad and see the bunny you carved."
Ian chimed in, "Grandma, I also want to go abroad to see where Mommy and my siblings used to live."
"Of course, you can, my little one. But you must promise Grandma that you'll take care of yourself while abroad," Emma said lovingly.
"Yay, great! I can follow Mommy abroad!" Ian exclaimed, jumping up three feet high and running around the living room. Aaron also smiled.
After breakfast, Emily began packing the kids' clothes.
Emma walked away to assist her in organizing her daily necessities.
"Emily, is it so urgent that you're leaving today?"
Emily nodded, saying, "We won't reach the airport until the early hours of tomorrow morning if we're leaving today. Afterward, I'll be taking the kids abroad for a few days. Don't worry; I can handle several children."
Emma let out a long sigh. It wasn't that she doubted Emily's ability to care for several children, but an inexplicable worry lingered in her heart.
As Emily folded clothes, she tentatively shared, "You know what? I had a particularly funny dream yesterday. I dreamt that Derek had a twin brother. It must be because I gave birth to multiples, so I always think Derek has siblings too. Huh, Emma, why do you look so uneasy? Did I say something wrong?"
"No... Nothing," Emma forced a smile. "How could you dream about this..."
"It could be... Derek's personality has changed so much lately, making me feel like he's a different person," Emily remarked, casting a meaningful glance at Emma. "In the past, before I was married, he took care of me and was tolerant and loving. Now, it's more about me tolerating him..."
Emma's face grew paler as Emily spoke.
"Emily, I'm suddenly a bit uncomfortable. I'll go to my room and rest. Later, you can ask the maid to take you to the airport." Emma put down the clothes, turned around, and walked out of the room.
In that instant, Emily's face turned cold.
So, Emma was involved, right?
"If Emma is involved, then Derek shouldn't be in too much danger for a while..." Emily thought to herself. She needed to get the four kids out of here fast.
Emily packed up the children's daily necessities quickly and carried two huge suitcases downstairs. The four little ones had already changed their clothes and were standing at the front door with excitement.
Emily pushed two suitcases and walked into the airport lobby with her four children, attracting the attention of countless onlookers. All four children were in high spirits.
Guilt flashed through Emily's mind as she spotted Louise standing not far away.
She squatted down, glancing at her children before speaking slowly, "Now, Mommy is going to say something very important. You must listen carefully."
"Mommy may not be able to go abroad with you guys..."
The children's faces fell simultaneously, disappointment evident in their eyes.
Chris pursed his pink lips. Since he heard Mommy utter those words during breakfast, he sensed that something was amiss.
Bitterness filled Emily's mouth as she met the children's puzzled eyes, but she had to continue, "I was supposed to go abroad with you guys, but the project encountered a temporary issue. I had to stay behind to handle the work first. However, I found Louise to accompany you guys."
Gimson was treacherous and unpredictable, willing to harm her own brother and even her brother's children. Emily couldn't risk putting her children in danger. Only by sending them away could she confront Gimson without any worries.
Ian pursed his lips and said, "Mommy, don't worry. I will take care of my younger siblings."
Chris fell silent, instinctively feeling that Mommy must be dealing with something more important than the four of them.
The four children bid farewell to Emily. She pushed back tears with all her strength and turned to Louise, saying, "I'm sorry for troubling you this time. I'll thank you again when I'm done with this."
Louise waved her hand nonchalantly, saying, "Just call me if you have any difficulties."
At that moment in the office, Gimson answered the phone and asked, "What's going on?"
"Boss, we've located them. Louise took the four children out of the country, and their destination is the exact town where Emily has been living for the past four years..."
"Arrange for a few people to follow them there," Gimson said in a cold tone. "Keep an eye on them twenty-four hours a day."
As soon as he finished speaking, he felt a sharp gaze upon him. He looked up to find Emily, who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere, staring at him with a cold and emotionless gaze.
He raised his hand and hung up the phone.
"Who was that?" Emily inquired.
Gimson uncomfortably tugged at the corner of his lips. "My assistant called."
"Did you have someone follow those kids?" Emily stared at him and suddenly shouted in anger. "Yes, I intentionally sent the kids away."
