Emma let out a silent sigh and turned to ascend the stairs. Emily's hands were tucked into her coat pockets as she took a step upstairs. The bedroom door pushed open, and Emily caught the heavy odor of smoke.
"You need to leave," Gimson's eyes landed on Emma's face, and he coldly spat out these words.
All of Emma's words were stifled; she didn't dare to confront her son. She took three steps out of the room and closed the door behind her.
Emily stood in the room, her voice cold, "What do you want?"
Gimson's eyes fell on her hands. He coldly said, "Hands out."
Emily obediently withdrew her hands.
"Take off your jacket and throw it at the floor," Gimson ordered coldly.
Emily complied without hesitation, tossing the jacket to the ground, a crisp sound emanating from it.
"Hiding knives in your pockets again, Emily?"
Emily sneered defiantly, "Against you, a knife is sufficient."
Gimson fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a black remote control. "Do you know what happens when I press this red button?"
Emily pursed her lips, refusing to respond.
"I've planted a bomb in the villa yard where you live. As soon as I press it, the house will explode with a bang." Gimson made an exaggerated gesture. "Your four children are on the second floor. Will they be blown up instantly, or will they die in the aftermath of resuscitation? Let me guess."
"You're crazy!" Emily squeezed those words through her teeth, thick with hatred in her eyes.
"I don't want to resort to such madness, Emily, but your behavior leaves me no choice." Gimson walked over to her, hooking her chin with the remote. "Go with me voluntarily, and I'll destroy the remote. If you resist, don't blame me for showing no mercy."
Emily tried her best to suppress her emotions, but her fingers shook involuntarily.
"Fine, I'll go with you," Emily said, opening her lips with difficulty. "I'll leave with you immediately after you destroy the remote."
"Agreed, but first, you'll have to ingest this." Gimson took out a white bottle filled with an unknown liquid from his pocket.
"What is this?" Emily looked at the strange liquid and suddenly felt uneasy.
"Don't worry; I just want to make you a bit more compliant." Gimson smiled wryly. "Of course, you can choose to refuse, but..." Gimson raised the black remote control, shaking it toward Emily.
After Emily consumed the medicine, Gimson took the lead, striding towards the open door. He pulled the door ajar, then turned back unhappily, saying, "Hurry up!"
Emily pursed her lips and complied, trailing Gimson out of the room.
Meanwhile, Emma stood in the corridor, her lips trembling. "Gimson, where are you taking Emily?"
Gimson sneered, not bothering to respond.
Emily's steps halted, and her lips formed a cold, emotionless smile. "Emma, you're aware of what Gimson has done. Yet, you choose to aid his escape from the basement. Are you not afraid that Derek and your grandchildren will fall victim to Gimson?"
Emma denied, "No, no, Gimson wouldn't do that."
Before Emma could finish, Emily tossed something black onto the floor. "Do you know what this is?" she asked coldly, anger in her eyes. "It's the remote control. Your dear son Gimson planted a bomb in the villa yard where we live! If I don't go with him today, he'll activate the remote, and you should be well aware of the consequences. Gimson is a madman!"
Emma's breath caught for a moment. Emily lowered her voice, "Emma, are you satisfied now?" Emma shook her head vigorously, "No. It's impossible."
"Are you going to call the police?" Emily stared at her. "Your son is going to harm your grandchildren. So are you going to call the police, Emma?"
Emma's face paled, her lips quivered, her fingers trembled, but she still hesitated to call the police.
Disappointed, Emily turned away coldly, following Gimson's brisk pace.
From now on, Emma would no longer be her children's grandmother.
As she stepped into the yard, a different scent caught her attention. She surveyed the area and noticed several people hiding behind the greenery. Emily sensed it, and Gimson did too.
He twisted Emily's arm and asked in a cold voice, "Did you call Derek?"
Emily replied faintly, "Now that I'm in your hands, what can he do? Let's get in the car and go."
Her docile appearance created an illusion for Gimson, as if she was truly willing to abandon everything and venture to the ends of the world with him. However, this illusion shattered completely when Gimson caught sight of her cold eyes.
Roughly pushing her into the driver's seat, he lowered his head, feeling around her body to ensure no hidden knife, before tying both of her hands.
Gimson settled into the driver's seat, and the car sped away. Almost instantly, an additional sports car appeared behind his car. The bodyguard took the wheel, while Derek, armed with a black gun, occupied the passenger seat.
"Flank left, force him onto the main road," Derek coldly ordered.
The three or four cars behind him coordinated, occupying all the left turn positions, compelling Gimson to take the main road.
"Shit!" Gimson laughed fiercely, pressing the gas pedal to the floor.
As he accelerated, Emily, with her hands bound behind her back, maneuvered a knife up her skirt and cut the ropes.
"BANG!" The car was suddenly struck from behind, causing Emily to struggle to steady herself. The once numerous cars on the road now dwindled to four or five, chasing each other.
Emily's narrowed eyes seized the opportunity as the car turned a corner. She lunged over, stabbing the knife toward Gimson's neck aorta with her right hand, simultaneously turning the steering wheel with her left to collide with the guardrail.
"Bang!" A bullet pierced through the air at the same time, shattered the car window, and struck Gimson squarely in the left chest, piercing his heart. Gimson's evil eyes snapped wide open, and he twisted his head to look at Emily, who sat on his right side.
The knife in Emily's hand pierced his neck, releasing a flow of blood. Shot in the chest, his black clothes were instantly stained with blood, and he slowly collapsed. His eyes still gazed sorrowfully at Emily.
"Emily! Emily!" Derek pounded on the car window. Emily's hands and feet were cold as she pushed the car door open and dove into Derek's arms.
"Derek, I killed him... I killed him..."
"Emily, it's okay. It won't happen again," Derek reassured, holding her and whispering soothingly. Emily gradually calmed down and witnessed the bodyguard carrying Gimson out of the car, covered in blood.
The demon that had disrupted her life was finally gone, without a sound.
