In Kinnis.
The dawn broke, the sun rose, and a new day began.
The Parker family seized the opportunity of Fiona's grandmother's birthday to organize a grand banquet, inviting several dignitaries in Kinnis. The event took place at the city's largest five-star hotel. Additionally, the president of the Scott Group, rumored to be unrivaled in the entire country, was expected to attend, ostensibly to invest in a Kinnis project.
At the hotel entrance, a throng of journalists had gathered, each eagerly waiting with a camera in hand. Alongside the reporters, key figures from prominent families in Kinnis were also in attendance.
"When will Mr. Scott arrive?" inquired a reporter who, after a prolonged wait, had yet to spot the president of the renowned Scott Group.
"Mr. Scott is occupied with work and unsure of his arrival time. I suggest you proceed with the banquet for now," replied the staff member. Disappointment filled the room as everyone reluctantly returned to the banquet hall.
As more guests arrived, the banquet hall became enveloped in the fragrance of incense and shadows. The Parker family members rose to greet and entertain their guests.
Suddenly, the banquet hall door swung open, prompting a collective hush as all eyes turned toward it. In walked a suited man, none other than Derek's special assistant, Erik. Instantly, reporters surrounded him with questions.
"Could you share details about the size of the Scott Group's investment in Kinnis this time?"
"Will the Scott Group continue its deep resource development in Kinnis in the future?"
Erik, uninterested in responding to these queries, revealed that Derek was supposed to attend but had to deal with a last-minute company issue. He had come in Derek's stead.
As Erik surveyed the crowd, he abruptly froze. With one glance, he understood why Derek, a man focused on day-to-day affairs, had ventured to a relatively small place like Kinnis.
"Please, gentlemen, don't rush," Erik raised his hand and gestured for silence as the noisy crowd suddenly hushed.
"Scott Group will indeed invest in Kinnis, but the specific project is still under discussion. Once the initial work is ready, Scott Group will hold a press conference. Please be patient," Erik announced, stepping down from the platform.
He walked over to Paul and greeted him, "Hello, Mr. Parker."
"Hello," Paul replied, feeling a bit flattered.
"Mr. Scott would like to see you," Erik said respectfully, turning to Emily and adding, "And you, Ms. Parker."
Paul shot Emily a suspicious look, wondering why Derek wanted to see her. Emily hesitated for a moment before stepping forward, "Lead the way, please."
They followed Erik to a hotel suite and waited for almost ten minutes before a soft knock on the door announced a visitor.
Paul and Emily eagerly stood up, both fixing their gaze on the door. Erik opened the door, standing respectfully aside as a man with a slender and upright figure stepped out.
The man, dressed in a black suit with short black hair, had eagle-like eyes, a high nose, and thin lips that exuded a stern aura. The golden buttons on his cuffs emitted a dull, low light under the crystal lamp, giving him an elegant and arrogant appearance.
Emily froze, sensing a familiarity. Though she followed financial news, she was certain she had never seen this person's picture in the media before.
"Mr. Scott!" Paul rushed to welcome him, having checked the information overnight and learned that the president of Scott Group was a young man of thirty.
Paul stiffly introduced himself, "Hello, Mr. Scott. I'm Paul, the president of Parker Group."
Derek reached out, shaking his hand gently, and his gaze shifted from Paul to Emily. In that moment, a soft light gradually emerged from his cold eyes.
"Please ask Mr. Parker to step out and wait for a moment," Derek requested, twisting his fingers faintly. "I would like to talk to this young lady for a moment."
Erik approached and respectfully guided Paul out, leaving Derek alone with Emily.
Before leaving, Paul glanced meaningfully at Emily.
The door of the room closed gently. Inside the room, only two people remained.
Emily still had an unperturbed look on her face as she spoke faintly, "Mr. Scott, what do you want to talk to me about?" Her voice, like the sound of wind bells, silk into the ear, from the eardrum straight to the deepest part of Derek's heart...
This familiar voice, this voice that had been repeated in his dreams, finally appeared in his ears with such clarity.
In this instant, he could be certain that this was his wife, this was the Emily he had been searching for for four years!
No one knew how much he wanted to embrace her into his arms, caress her face, kiss her lips deeply, hold her despite everything, and tell her about these four years of longing at this moment...
But he couldn't! He couldn't make any decisions before he knew what Emily's condition was.
Derek took a step and slowly approached Emily. He sniffed gently, "I wonder what perfume you're wearing, Ms. Scott?"
Emily frowned and took a quick step back. She realized that the Mr. Scott in front of her was looking at her strangely.
She was about to step back when she saw Derek raise his hand and snapped his fingers. The sound buzzed in her ears, and her mind suddenly went blank; her whole body fainted unexpectedly.
"Emily, I finally found you."
Derek scooped her limp body into his arms and buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply. This was his Emily. She smelled exactly the same as she had four years ago.
He sniffed lightly at her scent, which slowly turned into a deep kiss, moving from her neck to her lips, intertwining licks and bites over and over again...
"Crap! I don't see anything!" The door to the room inside the suite suddenly opened, and a blonde-haired, blue-eyed teenager walked out. Seeing this scene in front of him, the teenager hastily covered his eyes, turned around, and flew to close the room door.
"Come here." Derek pulled Emily's neckline upwards, making sure that not a single trace of her smooth skin could be seen before he said, "Peter, come and see what's going on."
Peter was a well-known psychiatrist specializing in hypnosis.
