One Night Stand

Chapter 4

Ch. 4 / 23 Mar 10, 2026

I woke up early the next morning, eager to visit Malcolm at his work place. I couldn't wait to see his reaction.

Taking a quick shower, I threw on a blue sundress and put on my only other pair of black sandals. I brushed my hair and tied it in a neat pony tail. I applied a bit of lip gloss, careful not to use too much as I couldn't afford another tube.

Once finished, I quickly grabbed an apple to eat, but as soon as I finished my apple I had to rush to the bathroom and puke my guts out. Damn morning sickness.

After brushing my teeth, I picked up my purse and left my apartment. I decided to walk to Malcolm's work place because I didn't have enough money for a cab, and now that I was pregnant I figured I could probably use the exercise.

I reached Bennett Industries after half an hour. The brunette lady at the reception told me to take the elevator to the top floor.

As soon as I reached the designated floor I was greeted by a blonde receptionist who was sitting chewing a gum and filing her nails.

"Hi, I'm here to see Mr. Malcolm." I told the receptionist who looked at me as if I was fly that need to be swatted immediately.

"Do you have an appointment?" She asked with distaste.

"No, but I have something important to tell him. Could you please tell him that Ariana Drake is here?" I requested the lady who rolled her eyes.

"Whatever," she picked up the phone and pressed a number.

"Mr. Bennett, a Miss Ariana is here to see you, she says she has to talk to you about something important."

"Okay, I'll tell her." The lady hung up and told me to sit on one of the waiting chairs as Mr. Malcolm was busy. I nodded and went to sit on one of the chairs.

After three hours of sitting in one spot, the lady finally told me to go inside. I thanked her and strode over to Malcolm's office.

His office was your typical boss's office. With a big desk, a computer, and other office paraphernalia, his office had no personal touch to it.

"What did you come here for, Ariana?" Malcolm demanded with annoyance.

"I have something to tell you." I replied.

"Go on with it, I don't have much time." He snapped rudely.

"I -" I twisted my fingers together in nervousness, "I'm pregnant, Malcolm." I blurted out.

Malcolm said nothing simply raised an eyebrow, "What do you want me to do about it?"

"I'm pregnant with your baby, Malcolm." I told him with a smile, but he only glared at me.

"What the hell are you saying?! Are you out of your mind?! Stop lying to me, and get out of my office!" Malcolm roared in fury, making me flinch.

"I'm not lying, Malcolm, I swear. We didn't use protection that night, I just went to the doctor because I wasn't feeling well, turns out I'm pregnant." I explained to him hurriedly.

"You whore, you go sleeping around with men, and you come up to me and tell me I'm the father of your disgusting child! Get out of my office, you filthy gold digger." Malcolm continued to shout at the top of his lungs.

Tears formed in my eyes at his accusations. "Malcolm, I'm not a whore nor a gold digger, I'm pregnant with your child, I'm telling the truth." I begged him to believe me, but it seemed as if he didn't want to listen to me.

"Get out, you pathetic skank, and don't ever show me your face ever again. And for the record, I would never have a child with you, not even by mistake." He told me and picked up the phone.

"Yeah Ed, send security up to my office, there is this crazy woman in my office who needs to be removed, send security immediately." Malcolm hung up and glared at me. I had tears streaming down my face at his reaction.

"Malcolm, please believe me, I'm not lying to you." I pleaded one more time.

The door opened and a couple of security guards appeared. "Take her away, and make sure next time no one let her enters the company's premises." Malcolm ordered the guards who nodded and shackled my bicep with their hands.

"No no, I - I'll leave on my own," I told the guards who immediately released me and turned to look at Malcolm, "Good bye, Malcolm." With that I turned and walked out of his office, wiping stray tears from my eyes.

I wanted to take a cab but I didn't have any money for the ride home. So I had no choice but to walk home.

Once I reached my one bedroom apartment, I immediately ran to my room and threw myself on the bed and let my tears loose.

I cried for my unborn baby who would never get to know his father. I cried in fear of raising this baby alone, without anyone there to help or support me.

I felt helpless now, because I was afraid for this baby. I would have to raise this baby alone, and that meant I had to earn more money than I was currently earning so my baby could have a secure future.

My tears dried eventually but the heavy feeling of fear didn't leave my heart. I knew the next nine months, hell the rest of my life wouldn't be easy, I just had to make myself stronger, not for me but for the baby.

I just wish I didn't let my baby down.
