One Night Stand

Chapter 18

Ch. 18 / 23 Mar 10, 2026

People usually get excited when Saturday is here, but I was anything but excited. Saturday was suppose to be Malcolm's day off from work and I had been dreading this day all week.

What was he going to do today? How would he react? Would he be his usual cold self or would he be nice to me like he had been the day before yesterday?

These and many more questions like these kept swarming in my mind. I was afraid to leave my room in case Malcolm was in a foul mood, but as it was, I was his maid and I had to make breakfast for him; so despite wanting to stay locked in my room, I hesitantly ventured out of it and went inside the kitchen.

When I saw or heard no sign of Malcolm, my heart relaxed a bit. I got the ingredients out of the pantry and set out to make breakfast for Malcolm.

I had just finished putting food on Malcolm's plate when he strode out of his room. He was wearing a gray shirt with white shorts, he looked really nice, it was a shame that he wasn't actually nice.

"Good morning, Ariana," Malcolm greeted, sitting down on the chair in front of the counter.

"Good morning, Mr. Bennett," I replied, pushing the breakfast plate towards him. "Your breakfast is ready." I washed my hands and exited the kitchen.

"Ariana," Malcolm called out.

My heart started drumming in terror as I turned to face him. "Yes?"

"We are going to go to the mall, buy clothes for you and other things, go get ready," Malcolm told me.

"No, no, no, I don't want clothes, I have all the clothes I need, I don't want more," I said, shaking my head. I was not going to accept anything from him. He had given me a roof to stay under and that was more than enough.

"Ariana, don't be silly, you own a total of five outfits, you need to have more clothes," Malcolm persisted, but I wasn't going to budge.

"No, no, I don't want more clothes, I have enough. I don't want anything," I stated.

There was something wrong with Malcolm. For the last couple of days he was being so nice to me, when only a few days ago he was calling me trashy and worthless. I didn't know what was wrong with him, but I also knew I couldn't fall for all this. Who knew if he was just acting, or maybe he had a hidden agenda.

Malcolm sighed and stood up from his chair. He strode over to me until he was standing right in front of me, only a few inches separated us.

"Okay fine, we won't buy clothes for you okay? We'll go buy clothes for the baby; and don't even think about arguing with me on that, this baby is mine and I'm going to buy lots of clothes and toys for my baby, so be a good girl and go clean up, we'll leave in fifteen minutes," Malcolm said in a stern voice.

Not wanting to anger him, I nodded and hurried to my room. Brushing my hair a few times, I tied my hair in a pony tail, then grabbed my lip gloss and applied a thin layer of it on my lips. Once I had applied my lip gloss, I looked at the tube in dismay, it was almost about to finish and I needed a new tube.

Pushing my lip gloss worries at the back of my mind, I exited the room and met Malcolm by the foyer who gave me a once over before opening the door and walking out of the penthouse with me following behind.

As soon as we arrived at the mall, Malcolm led me to a store which only consisted of baby things. Grabbing a basket, Malcolm told me to buy whatever I liked for the baby and not to worry about the price. He then told me he had to go buy something for a friend so he was going to join me later.

Once Malcolm left me to shop for things for the baby, I begun wandering around the store looking for anything that would catch my eye and I would want my baby to wear.

A sales lady came to me asking me what I would like to buy, she even congratulated me on my pregnancy and asked me where the father was. I just gave her a tight smile in response.

When Malcolm returned twenty minutes later, I had selected two onesies and three pairs of cute socks for the baby.

"That's all you selected in twenty minutes?" Malcolm enquired eyeing the basket with an unreadable expression.

"I'm sorry, th - that was all I liked up till now," I muttered softly, afraid that he would yell at me.

"Don't apologize, let's look at the toy section," Malcolm told me.

"Wait, um...did you buy whatever you wanted to buy for your friend?" I asked, I didn't see any sort of a bag in Malcolm's hands which made me question whether he had actually bought anything.

"Yes, it's going to be delivered to her house," Malcolm answered while looking at various toys.

After filling two baskets with toys and clothes, Malcolm went to the checkout counter and paid for the items. When the cashier stated the amount out loud, my eyes nearly bugged out. But Malcolm only nodded and took out his credit card and paid for the items.

When we exited the store I only had one thought on my mind; my baby was going to be spoiled rotten.
