"I...I'm not injured." Lita bit her red and swollen lips, feeling a little embarrassed.
But Alice still had some inkling when she saw her. She didn't have to ask. Her red swollen lips must have been kissed by Alex. She smiled knowingly and said, "Mrs. Selmy, it's good that you're not injured."
Lita felt that Alice's smile was weird. It seemed that she had already seen through her and knew that she had been bullied by Alex. But Alice did not take her side for the angle of justice. Was she being partial to him?
Thinking of something, Alice suddenly asked, "Mrs. Selmy, did you just say that you had a draw with Mr. Alex? You, you didn't hit him, did you?"
"Yes! I bit him!" Lita did not hide it and directly admitted. In this way, Alice would know that she was not weak. After being bullied again and again, she showed her fangs.
"What? You bit Mr. Alex? Which part of him did you bite? How could you bite him?" When Alice heard that Alex was bitten, she felt sad for him..
"Why couldn't I bite him? He molested me first! was just defending myself!"
Lita didn't want to hide anything from Alice. Alex molested her again and again. The problem couldn't be solved by unprincipled forgiveness. Her tolerance and hiding would only encourage Alex to bully her more unscrupulously.
"Did you really bite him? Which part of him? Did he get hurt serious? Did he bleed?" Alice did not understand that Lita was complaining to her. Instead, she only felt sorry for Alex and was concerned about his injury.
Lita was indignant. She felt her heart was aching and she almost couldn't breathe. She seemed to realize that all the people in Selmy's family were partial to Alex! Unprincipled partiality! Her grievance wasn't worth mentioning at all.
She really regretted not biting the man a few more times! It would make him know that even if a rabbit was cornered, it would bite people!
What's more, Lita didn't think she was a rabbit at all!
Under Alice's repeated questioning, Lita deliberately exaggerated, "I bit very hard and he lost a lot of blood. Go upstairs and check on him!"
"Ah? My God, why did the wife and the husband fight against each other like enemies? What should I do?" Alice spoke without thinking because she was really worried about Alex. She did take his side.
"What do you mean by wife and husband? Alice, you are partial to him! Next time if he dares to molest me, I will tell Ethan! If Ethan can't control him, I will call the police!" Lita said angrily and went back to the guest room.
She felt grievance. Why did everyone in Selmy family take Alex's side without principle? What was Ethan's position in this family then? They seemed to feel it was just and reasonable for a man to molest his brother's wife!
But then again, except for spoiling Alex too much, Alice and Harry really treated Lita well. It could be said that they cared about her very much. At least, Lita felt the warmth of being cared about.
Early next morning.
It took Lita more than one hour to cook some nutritious fruit and rice porridge for Ethan. However, her good will was once again rejected outside the heavy door of the treatment room by Alex and Doctor Owen.
She couldn't help but feel frustrated. Lita clearly realized that she was incompatible with Selmy family. She had been excluded from the family members. Even though she was now Ethan's wife.
Even Harry and Alice could enter Ethan's treatment room. She was the only one who was kept out of the room. By law, she was Ethan's guardian. Why didn't she even have the right to go in and take a look at him?
She felt lonely and miserable when she left the room with the porridge. Lita did not blame anyone, nor did she force them to tell her why they refused to let her see Ethan. She knew that Alice and Harry were doing this for the sake of Ethan's health.
She went back to the kitchen with a broken heart. She sat down by the bar and stared at the bowl of porridge that she cooked for one hour. It was terrible to be disliked by others.
Chloe's words echoed in her mind. "Does Selmy family think that the reason why she was willing to marry into their family is that she covets Selmy's Group?" She lamented, 'If they really don't like me and are on guard against me, then how pathetic I am! No wonder when I asked Alex for one hundred thousand dollars to give to charity, he humiliated me like that. So Alex thinks that I married into their family for money.'
Lita smiled bitterly. Alas, Selmy's Group. She was not interested at all! Since she had promised her uncle to marry Ethan, she only wanted to take the responsibility as a wife and take care of Ethan. However, everyone of the family was on guard against her all the time!
Since that was the case, why did Ethan still want to get married? What was his purpose of marrying her in the first place?
Lita didn't want to make things difficult for their family, but she hate to see Selmy family treat her like a thief!
Suddenly she felt that the air around her became thinner, she looked up, and saw Alex's tall and straight figure. He stood beside her proudly, like a king, and looked down at her.
She only took a glance at him and then averted her eyes, stared at the porridge that was disliked by others too. It didn't matter if others didn't appreciate her sincerity, but she couldn't waste her own work.
So, she reached her hand for the bowl of porridge that shared the same fate as her.
But a strong hand took the bowl away faster than she did. Being surprised, she looked up and saw Alex start eating the porridge in big gulps. Before long, a bowl of porridge was finished.
"Tastes good, just a little too light." Alex put down the empty bowl and gave a brief comment.
It was specially made for Ethan, so she only added very little salt and condiments. Naturally Alex would think it too light.
Lita kept silent and did not answer him. She got up early to cook this for Ethan, but it ended up being eaten by Alex. She really did not know whether she should feel comforted or angry.
"Why wouldn't you say something? Have you become a mute?" Alex could detect her sadness in the silence. "Didn't you have a fierce mouth last night."
Recalling what happened last night, Lita blushed with shame. This man was talking about her biting him in a roundabout way? He deserved it. He should blame himself for showing no respect to her!
Lita lowered her head and ignored him. The more she talked with this man, the more smug he would be!
"Alice," Alex said to Ann, who had been staying outside the kitchen all the time. "Please go to buy some pig ribs today."
"Okay! I'll do it later!" Alice eplied.
Lita didn't pay much attention to what he said. He seemed normal so far today. However, his next sentence changed her mind.
"From now on, you should give this lady more pig bones to gnaw, so that she won't bite people," Alex said unscrupulously.
Lita was speechless.
